This only works for calls. You can't connect for audio, so you can't connect to listen to music. I've NEVER had an issue with Bluetooth until this radio. I can make calls but I can't play anything. It literally says "calls only" so... I'm not sure why nobody has addressed this.
Thats literally what this video shows you how to do. It works for music too IF your phone allows it. I explain how to do it. I listened to music off of my phone thru bluetooth every time I drove this car. If you look closely in the video, you will see in the upper right hand corner of the radio, that it has 2 green tiles lit up. One right below the "PM" and one almost right below the "F" in the temperature. That's the bluetooth icon and the shuffle icon for music because I was listening to music from my phone.

Mine was a 15 2LT and I had a Samsung galaxy S9, which is what I recorded the video with and also connected to my radio to play music. I no longer have the equinox or that phone. I'll try to do a follow up video with my challenger, to show the exact screens on the phones. I had a business phone that I can link up to it and record with my main phone.
Hi. This comment is going to refer your older vids. I have a 2003 F150 4.2. I have a K&N in my stock air filter housing, and I am considering doing a Gotts mod. I was surfing RUclips for suggestions on this matter and came across you battling that 275 chump dude who was bashing V6 trucks. BRAVO! Thank you lol. The GOTTS mod was originally for the 5.4L from 04-05 or 04-06. They were tuned lean from the factory. Cold air intakes moved the location of the mass airflow sensor, which made the computer run slightly too lean. So it could mess up your engine. The GOTTS mod was to get the benefit of more air without moving the sensor. So it would adjust accordingly but still be just under the limit of being too lean. With a 4.2L, you can do either. I loved my 4.2 trucks. Got rid of the 08 because I moved to Colorado and needed 4x4 for all the muddy driveways and dirt/clay roads that would turn to slime when wet. So I traded it in on a 14 4x4 ram which is also long gone lol.

It doesn't work for everyone's car i think. I have a 2012 and it doesn't give me the option to play music. I have a zzfold 4 so it's not the phone. Maybe the radio and mine is exactly like yours
@No Shade No Lemonade they had the same radios, but I believe mine had more options available within the radio than yours did. I've been told that many had the same radio, but some of the apps were grayed out on theirs. So same radio but not same features. That might be your issue. I had a verizon galaxy S9 and a cheap straight talk galaxy J3 Orbit connected to mine. Both worked fine. I no longer have my equinox so I can't show how to connect anything anymore. I now have the z fold 4 also and it works great on my other car.

I'm noticing more and more people who can't. It's kinda half incompatible phones and half lower model radios that won't allow it. My equinox was a 2015 2LT. So for sure it will work on a 15 or newer 2LT or higher trim.
@@timmypstyleit’s got nothing to do with compatible phones, any phone in this day and age will connect to any cars Bluetooth and play music IF the car allows it. But the SLE trim doesn’t allow you to play music through Bluetooth
I don’t have that Bluetooth icon on my home page. I have to use the usb to listen to music. Right now the music plays but the screen says files not found. It was working properly but now whenever you touch any button it stops usb play and goes to the radio. Any thoughts on what the problem could be? Thanks.
I actually figured out how to fix this for ios at least. You have to have at least 1 song in your playlist that you’ve bought from I tunes. After that you can change it to whatever without it saying that

I have a 2016 Equinox LS screen looks the same but doesn't have the bluetooth option on the home screen. I know in the 2017 My Link was standard in them. Mine doesn't have Mylink Software but looks exactly the same. Same size screen, same layout on screen, same style of buttons. I try to see if I can update it with built in 4G Lite built in but no option to do so. When I click on Software update it asks to plug in USB. I there a way to update it through USB.
I have heard that if it doesn't have the tiles for Bluetooth, you can't add them. But im not 100% sure on that. Either way, the Bluetooth isn't perfect and has some issues. Usb or aux cord might eork better but is just more of a hassle.

Mine worked pretty good. It had a few glitches here and there tho. But I also have a Samsung phone. But the radio in my challenger is way better at playing music and uts the most basic radio you could get in a 15 challenger.
I have a 2012 equinox, it doesn't have this screen . And yes, this car needs a new motor leaks oil .I have too many miles on it to have GM repay me if I replace the engine.
Yea honestly not sure what years it pertains to. Ive had some people with 13s say they can hook music up this way and others with 13s say they can't or have tiles missing. Not sure if older LTZ models had the bigger my link radio like this one or not.

I tried different things and it says i have too many devices saved on car to pair up. I tried deleating other devices and it wouldn't let me. How can I get rid of those devices on there to see if that will solve my issue with my phone not pairing up
After connecting Bluetooth, look in your connections menu and check Bluetooth menu on your phone. See if you have an option for music checked. If it's not checked, check the box. If you have no option, then it probably isn't possible.
They will light up when something is connected via those sources. But if you dont have the tiles at all, I dint know how to add them. Apparently some don't have all of the tiles.
@@heres2ya I use plug in all the time. The console is not lighting up I can even use Bluetooth to make phone calls its a 2013 lt1. No clue what's wrong with it. Randomly the console powers off like a reboot
I've never had an iPhone, but I know they're finicky. If you have nothing on your phone to allow music to go thru the Bluetooth, then it won't work. My galaxy s9 had the phone audio connect, but I had to go into my phone to allow the music. I also had a 15 with the MyLink radio.
My bluetooth is glitchy...it pauses and stops the song halfway thru the song...when i hit play the song starts over from the beginning...where/how do i use an aux cord with my samsung S22 ultra? GRRR
If you have the style of radio in the video, you do it thru your phone if it lets you. If you dont have the same type as in the video, then I honestly don't know.

It probably won't work, but go into your phone settings, connections, Bluetooth, then click on the radio on your phone. That should bring up a list of items that your allowing the radio to access. If you can use it fir phone calls, then phone calls should be checked. If you have a music or audio setting, turn it on. Then try going to Bluetooth on the radio. If that doesn't work, then you can't get music.
If you have this same radio, it should be in your phone under your connection settings, then go into Bluetooth and see if there is something to allow media or allow music. If its not there, try finding your car's pair under Bluetooth and go into that and see if its there. I can't show it anymore because I sold my equinox.

Yeah sorry, I don't know how to get Bluetooth to work on that. I'm guessing it was something that was only available on certain trims. For the equinox there were 4 trims. Mine was 2nd from the top.
@@marisagonzalezsilva4650 you can't add them. The radio had to come with them to use them. My 15 was a 2LT and had pandora on it. Lower trims and also older years might not have had pandora.
If it doesn't show up on your phone in the settings, it won't allow it to pair. You can try going into the settings of the phone and see if it has an extra setting that needs manually turned on.
My 15 equinox was the 2nd trim level from the top so it had heated seats, sunroof, automatic rear hatch, fog lights, etc. It might be based on which trim you have as to how much is on the radio.
If you have the mylink radio pictured in the thumbnail of the video, you should be able to hook your phone to the radio as in this video. Some phones won't allow the music to be played tho. So the other option is getting an audio cable and connect your phone to the input jack inside the center console on the front side near the bottom.
If you have an LS you might not. I think it was LT and up but not positive. Thought it was with any radio that has the hands free phone capabilities tho.
It literally says how to pair your phone with your radio for phone calls in the owners manual. This is just an extra step you have to take to allow the car to access your music. Sorry you got confused on simple instructions.
@@packedbull9902 i have an s9 and a galaxy I think A10 from straight talk. Try hitting settings-connections-bluetooth-and then whatever you have your equinox paired as. Once in there, it should have the permissions and show phone calls and audio or music. Turn both on and it should work.

You can't add apps. They have to be on the radio already.

Yeah the mylink radio is picky. I never have any issues in my challenger, and I've had 3 phones paired to it.

If you have the mylink radio pictured in the thumbnail of the video, you should be able to hook your phone to the radio as in this video. Some phones won't allow the music to be played tho. So the other option is getting an audio cable and connect your phone to the input jack inside the center console on the front side near the bottom.

If you have an LS you might not. I think it was LT and up but not positive. Thought it was with any radio that has the hands free phone capabilities tho.

It literally says how to pair your phone with your radio for phone calls in the owners manual. This is just an extra step you have to take to allow the car to access your music.

It will only connect for calls
If your phone doesn't have the settings to allow music or allow other audio, you won't be able to do it. Its a setting on the phones, not the car.

Try hitting settings-connections-bluetooth-and then whatever you have your equinox paired as. Once in there, it should have the permissions and show phone calls and audio or music. Turn both on and it should work.

Its exactly how I paired 2 phones with it so....yes it does. But it depends on the phone.
