Morrison’s books changed over the course of her career . To me her novels after Song of Solomon became really dense and complicated and then A Mercy was surprisingly straightforward. I haven’t read Home or Bless the Child.
That board book looks lovely. My favorite book from May was either Red Rabbit by Alex Grecian, which is a western folk horror, or A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C A Fletcher, which is a touching character-focused dystopian novel.
Hi Jolene. My favorite May read was the novella The Turn Of The Screw by Henry James. I was fairly certain I would like it but I liked it far more than I expected. Currently I am reading a fabulous book, A Gentleman In Moscow by Amor Towles. I'm halfway through it and I am totally bowled over by it. I highly recommend it.
I really liked Story of Us, but like you found the baby PoV a little odd. I think it worked overall, but there were scenes where I was very ??? about it. Mary Grace, Liz and Ash were such fantastic characters though! And I really loved how tender it was about both caregivers and elders. Still haven't gotten around to The Peace. Need to do that. Sorry your event with Dallaire didn't end up happening. I hope he's doing okay, and you'll get a chance a later time. My favourite book in may was Falling Back in Love with Being Human by Kai Cheng Thom, a book of poetry where each poem is a letter to someone. Really gorgeous and insightful writing as always from Thom.
The stats are back! Yay! I’m a huge Dewitt fan but haven’t read his latest yet. The Sisters Brothers is my favourite. Wonderful to have you back, sharing your reading with us.
I had really wanted to go to this years Stephen Leacock awards, stupid anxiety won and I chickened out of going... I have yet to read anything by Patrick Dewitt and I wonder how I'd get on with his story telling
Going to the Leacock awards would be great fun. One year, you will do it. I’m interested in other DeWitt books to see what I think about his storytelling overall. 😊💙
I really liked The Sisters Brothers by Dewitt.
So did I! I listened to the audio while reading and loved it. I have French Exit and The Librianist on my TBR list.
It's a great book. Dewitt has a great sense of humour and balances it well with humanity and tenderness.
Wonderful! I will have to check it out. 😊💙
@@sandyhinds2091Me three for The Sisters Brothers 🤠
I’ve heard of The Guncle and thought it might be a fun read so glad to hear you enjoyed it. Beautiful art work in the picture book!
I’ve been wanting to read The Guncle, so I’m glad to hear you liked it.
It’s worth a read. It’s an easy read with fun characters and deeper themes than I originally thought. 😊💙
@@lindysmagpiereadsif you get a chance to read it, I hope you enjoy it. 😊💙

I agree about her books up to Song of Solomon. I will see how the next two books go. 😊💙
