Hi, those are some great books. I've been wanting try a Waubgeshig Rice book and those two you mentioned sound very interesting. 😊 I'm glad that you're back and making videos again. I've missed watching them. Hope everything is well.
It's really great to see you back! I've missed you. I hope you're doing okay. I also just read and really loved Moon of the Falling Leaves! I thought Waub's writing was even better than the first one, and agree on how Indigenous culture is just there as part of the story. Audiobook was a good choice on this one for hearing the language. I remember really loving Hotline when I read it for Canada Reads. I read Em by Kim Thúy for my April challenge book. I'm hoping to get to all her books this year. I didn't read much in April either because I was travelling, but I really loved Rebecca Solnit's memoir Recollections of my Nonexistance, which was so beautifully reflective and communal. My favourite March reads were the memoir Halfbreed by Maria Campbell, and Lorna Crozier's latest book of poetry: After That.
Thanks so much. I have missed you too. Things are ok. Em and Man are the only Kim Thuy books I haven’t read. Her writing is incredible. Halfbreed is an Indigenous Canadian classic. I will have to check out the other memoir you mentioned. 😊💙
Welcome back Jolene! Don't give up on Emily Henry just yet -- Funny Story was a win for me, and Beach Read is the only one of her books that I've truly enjoyed too.
Thanks Karen. I have And Then She Fell and it’s high on my TBR. Cold by Drew Hayden Taylor is on my up next reads as well since it’s the June pick for The Reading Across Canada Challenge. The festival sounds great. Can’t wait to hear all about it. 😊💙
Such a pleasant surprise to see a video from you this morning. Welcome back!
Thank you. Happy to be back. Thanks for watching. 💙😊
