@@JynxRyl i'm happy you enjoyed it.. i did warn you of how quick it is with it's pace/editing, but i think that's what's kind of genius about it. it feels overwhelming at the beginning when they're throwing like 50 names/nicknames at you (turkish, tommy, mickey, brick, Tony, boris- the bullet dodger "why is he called that"... b/c he dodges bullets, lol etc) and you guys still managed to follow not only the story during your first view, but also kept up with both stories happening at once (boxing v diamond), esp with foreshadow moments mentioning that "all they have to do is just go back to the Pikey's ground for the dog".. something i've never heard anyone reacting to this before catch considering that's how it ended with Turkish and Tommy going there just to find the very male dog, "Daisy", lol. or how actually hysterical the tyrone scene was with the front desk chick not flinching once with a gun to her face and just kindof toying with them using their surveillance turning the room into a metal cage.. and even mentioning after the scene when they're all in the car with Boris in the trunk.. and the mayhem of Tommy throwing his milk out the window, that "everything is connected".. I've seen this movie dozens of times and you guys managed to catch something i'd never connected before with how tommy drinks milk all the time, and how that came back in that car scene..
You guys caught numerous things like that which i expected knowing how much ya'll pay attention and b/c this movie feels like it's all just filled with quotables (dag) unique to every group in the scene.. but in the end, it's about entertainment and i'm just glad i saw you both laugh so much. I think the characters are so quirky and become so unique and easy to suddenly recall despite the confusing, overwhelming introduction. Guy Ritchie really killed it with the story. MY personal fave story arc is the Pikey's and the freeze shot frame in the end with Turkish narrating about "stupid faces we make at the moment of death, but seeing how Mickey (brad pitt) looked chill as sh* b/c he had already prepared for the moment.
idk if you caught this quick part in that ending when explaining that Mickey basically only played along with the "going down on the fourth" was b/c he was just buying time for his people to get ready.. and also that whilst the fight was rigged by Brick (pig guy)... Mickey had rigged his own fight by making his people take bets in THEIR favour, basically outplaying Brick and his gang on every level, including their uno reverse killing them all.
I think those little quick story tellings that can be missed first time, but still not killing the actual story is what makes this such a cult classic. Everyone can get the gist of the story and how horrible the characters are, how horrific it was burning down Mickey's mom's caravan... with mom in it.. the fights, his revenge, and finally getting the diamond. that's the gist.. but alllll the little funny connections/jokes/intricacies are genius b/c they only add to this main story making it highly replayable, you can tell how beloved this movie is with quoatables or certain characters mentioned by every comment, there's a deep cult following/love for this movie, and i'm so happy i got to watch it with you guys for your first time. ❤
