    Terrible dangerous pump. Bought after watching your review. Arrived from Amazon today, had no problems inflating my sup. Stuck it on charge via USB-C using the same charger we use for all our phones etc. An hour later my wife said what's that burning smell? It was this pump, the screen had literally started to melt. Luckily we caught it before it caught on fire. Going straight back to Amazon.

    Hi, i purchased this pump after watching the review for the ease of taking it anywhere to use. It's a great pump and can get my 11.5ft board to 15psi in 10mins.... My only issue is how loud it gets when the 2nd stage of pumping comes in. Not sure how the people are going to like that at the water park when i turn up 😂

    Thanks and good to know there are other good pump options, you did awesome job as always. But, i think battery life, and the type of battery used, is important. There are too many rechargeable devices out there (including some other air pumps) that last a year, then you throw it away because battery no longer holds a charge. This is one device that perhaps could use a Lithium-polymer battery, like they put in the iPads, that can last for 500 charge cycles or more. But, nobody ever seems to ask this. I don’t expect you to know this, and that doesn’t take away anything from your review. But, it’s time consumers start caring about long-term product life, and the fact is, most rechargeable devices (like all those products made by Bell&Howell advertised on TV) are designed to be disposable, rather than have good longevity. Something to think about, especially since most SUP fans don’t want to buy a new pump every year.

    • @fetchOreo
      @fetchOreo Год назад +1

      I just bought this pump to replace another rechargeable pump that was dying after 2 seasons. Both of them have a 4000 mAh battery and I was worried if I should go for the whale shark instead since it has a larger battery. Cuz I want to avoid having to replace it quickly again.

    • @ethanhuffsup
      @ethanhuffsup  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the great insights! I agree with you and look forward to seeing more innovation in this area. Thankfully the pumps I’ve used by Airbank have lasted and I haven’t had one slow down on me yet but that’s not to say there isn’t room for improvement. I’ll try to talk more about the battery next time. 🤙🏼

      Sorry I forgot to add the time in there. It took just over 9min to inflate my Allstar up to 15.5 PSI. The board has a volume of 323 Liters. The Airbank Whale Shark Pro pump inflates the board about 1min faster than this pump. I can personally inflate the board with a hand pump much faster but it's a good workout haha.

    Hi Ethan, I ended up buying a puffer pro and i have to say it worked really well on our pop board that has a Halkey-Roberts valve. However it wasn't sufficient on our other boards with the Leafield D7 valves. It wont overcome the spring pressure. I had to open the valve and then top off the board with a hand pump. I'm wondering if you've ran across this.

    • @ethanhuffsup
      @ethanhuffsup  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hmmm great question. I have not personally come across this problem as the boards I have use the Halkey-Roberts valves as well which have held up just fine when pumping up to full pressure. I would recommend emailing Airbank and hearing their recommendations on this problem. Sorry I can't help more.

    I bought mine on amazon, and annoyingly threw the box away. Awesome pump but.. after fully recharging mine, i noticed two days later (tho powered off) it was making a clicking sound. the battery was drained by this to around 50%. When i plug the USB charge cable in the clicking stops and it charges... I take the cable out.. and yes it clicks again... So although a great pump... I've managed to get a duff.. and sadly can't return it.

      You're not the only one. I had the identical clicking and battery drain problem out of the box. I reported the issue to Airbank who's supposedly sending a replacement en route.
      Coincidentally, the pump died today as indicated by a longer than normal 6 hour charge time, charge stuck at only 3 of 5 bars, and a strong burned metal smell. It doesn't power on anymore and has a rattling loose component inside. All of this has been in the first 5 days out of the box.
      Airbank has been very courteous thus far, and I LOVE this pump design. But, I'm sharing my experience to caution others of this general battery powered, portable style... It doesn't seem to be unique to Airbank or the Puffer Pro. There's enough reviews consistently sprinkled in with all of the other similar 4.5+ star competitor models.
      Good luck!

Such a pleasure to deal with, I got unlucky, it happens.. AirBanks customer relations is i think the best I've yet had. No fuss, super quick responses I could have been in the middle of a lake deflating on a paddle board and this replacement would have reached me.. Honestly. Superb. And what a pump.. Aside from a great size and weight, I just love how everything you need packs into a quality case. Seriously can't paise this company enough. 5*
