I see some viewers keep repeating the western propagada. Stop saying China putting Africa in debt. You want development, you need to build infrastructure. In fact when you want to build anything, you need financing. You can borrow from the any bank in the world, it will be debt. Don't just look at the railway alone. You have to see how much economic activities it will generate. There is one sure way to getting in debt: status quo, meaning staying in the past. I am confident that the African people are capable of good judgement.

Well done Kenya ! you have made a wise decision. However, I am from the West (Canada), there wasn't any reports about this success story but instead I did heard mostly negative media report about the "Debt Trap", not using local workers and extreme expansive construction cost by the Chinese company etc... Your report changed my mind.

As part of my research, it would be great to speak to locals involved in the project or affected by it. Could you maybe direct me towards people affected or involved in the project. Early stage to a developed society is always slow and painful, capital often accumulates in bloody ways, as the western countries experienced. Africa needs to be independent only if it can gain its own capability by cooperation from the globe, encouraging the spread of human resource, technology and capital. No mater which country can provide, but be aware of hypocritical empty words.

People have been asking for more train time added | wifi for the longest ; 🤷 who is managing this? and what else are they busy with? The trains are booked way in advance for awhile now. I DONT GET IT? !! At least allow a private run train to use the line in between cargo & the SGR or have them attached their salon/coach to the SGR ride to Mombasa. The train line is just sitting there unused. Kenya needs to remove inefficient government workers or tie their pay to performance of getting things done.

The imperialists before, built train tracks to make the movement of goods easier for them. China is doing the same, but instead we’re going to sign over our lands to them in exchange for the trains, which they will eventually use to move their goods across Africa. This will happen once the politicians who got paid off, run out of tax payers money to service the debt, and China gives them their wish list of what resources they want to plunder in exchange for the debt on the outdated trains, which China has no need of. What they do need is land and natural resources, when will Africa learn, our resources should never be sold off, especially at such a low price. Ask yourself why didn’t China build us a nice high speed rail network, like they are doing across China. Or ask yourself why they gave the Ethiopians a longer train line, a more modern train line at a cheaper cost than us. Ethiopia got an electrified line, and we got an outdated diesel line. This is new imperialism, they come with a friendly face and a credit card.
