- Today I wanted to show you something a little different. I've been wearing box braids for a while and I thought it was time to switch it up.
Did my own sew in, hair extensions, weave or whatever you like to call it :)
Used 3 bundles of hair, each from a different hair company- 26 inch hair
Herimports (body wave)
Yummy extensions (curly wave)
Lotus extensions (body wave) from Tease Hair Salon located in MD
My hair is natural 4a 4b texture
I would never use this braid pattern on a client! (professional hair stylist)

OMG yes - I don't believe all this advice about not cutting tracks. If it's good quality hair, you CAN cut the tracks and it won't shed. Refreshing to hear another opinion! LOL. I think your braids were done so nicely. I could never braid like that! Your hair is fantastic - great job.
I find that for me it works best if I cut very little of the tracks because I reuse my hair so much so it's easier for me to manage a full weft opposed to cut up tracks.

What type of hair is this? Cambodian, Brazilian, Indian. It blends perfectly!
It’s from yummy extensions - Raw Cambodian wavy and curly wave. I love their hair for that reason!

Is body wave is better then getting straight hair is it because it a better blend with natural hair ?
How did you angle the hair? did you start from the back going straight across and then stop mid ear to angle it upwards or you angle the hair upwards until you got to the top where you started to do the “U” shape around your leave out with the weave.
I have tried for YEARS to straighten curly weave and it is always stiff how do you do it 😩
For me, the straightening happens when you blow dry (with a good heat protectant) and leaving the hair damp enough to create tension on the curls! Flat ironing is just the last step in the smooth process 😊. You can do it!

Do you angle your braids to the top the entire way until you can’t anymore & then do the “u” ?
Yes! Starting from the ear. It’s usually 3-4 angled tracks and then 2-3 tracks to close the u shape.

Hope someone can help me, my hair is natural and by the time I get home it has separated itself from the weave so I'm looking crazy and don't even realise. I'm not trying to fry my hair to death as I've just resurrected my hair from chemical damage and edge controls steal my edges Does anybody know of any good products I can use to lay my hair down🙏🙌🙏
Hi! Well one issue you could be having is the blow dry flat iron - that’s truly your “straightening” and then use a sealant/protectant before you flat iron.( I love Goldwell Kerasilk style, Joico Defy Damage, Heat Hero and Keratase Oleo Relax- they really help smooth and seal my ends).
And YOU HAVE TO FLAT IRON YOUR LEAVE OUT WITH TOP TRACK. This really helps to lay it down. Then top it with another sealant hair spray for humidity and frizz. At night, wear a scarf like a head band so you won’t have to apply more heat in the morning. Hope that helps!
Another issue could be how the weave was installed and possibly too silky of a texture that doesn’t blend well with your natural hair. If you don’t want to use a lot of heat, aim for more blow out, kinky straight textures. That way you could do a light blow dry or even a loose twist out to reduce the look of separation.

Hello miss , I'm thinking about getting my first sew in weave , as a hairstylist do you think they really damage our hair or is the damage due to the way people treat their extensions ?
Hi! Absolutely not! It’s the way we treat our hair when we have extensions. Also, the type of extensions you choose too - glue is a no, microlinks on short hair is a no, tight braids hell no! I’ve honestly been able to grow every head that I touched. I map out a plan for my clients and the expectations are realistic. With proper technique and care you could have 3 inches of new growth in six months. Other factors like health issues could slow this down. So just be sure to have a consultation with your stylist to be sure extensions are the right fit for you! Good luck!

@@rantsandretinol i have some more questions , how do I maintain a sew in ? Should I wash it ? If yes, how often ? What is the best way to moistirize it ? What hair product are the best to use on sew in (thick creams vs watery spray) ? When should I take it out ? ( I heard 1 to 4 months but I prefer your opinion)
My apologies! Just seeing this. Shampoo and condition once every two weeks (use an applicator bottle to ensure products gets on the scalp). I prefer spray moisturizers - Shea Moisture, Curls, Oyin Handmade, Cream of Nature and Mane choice oil. Creams are harder to apply to the hair while braided. And I recommend no more than 8-10 weeks. Hair sheds everyday and will remain trapped in the braids, so you run the risk of tangling and matting if you leave it in for too long or if you shampoo too frequently.
