Yes. The kind of problem I was having was pretty much what was shown at about 5:30 on the video you referenced. I do see that the simplify point command helps, but sometimes only marginally. I don't find that there is an issue when I draw my own graphics, such as you demonstrated in the first part of the video, it is more when bringing in Jpegs that I have problems with too many points. Did they get rid of the 'low-pass' filter in version 4? Just wondering. I have had a lot of success with bringing jpeg files in as .png files with transparent backgrounds. I am fortunate to have knowledge in Photoshop and can convert most jpegs there first. That helps tremendously. Also, you forgot to mention what Curve Quality is for. I may have missed that. Sorry for all the questions. I just want to do things the best way possible. Thanks again.
I am trying to find out how i can change cutting settings when its cutting like i could do with the cameo 3. i hope that makes sense.. i could change it on the side panel with the cameo 3
That TOOLS setting made my morning!! Couldn't stop erasing and making circles without right clicking EVERYTHING on the screen to be released!!! Thanks again
You are the best at teaching, you never rush and you make it clear what your teaching. Some videos go so fast and no matter how many time you watch it, your so damn frustrated and lose interest when it’s done.
Just a suggestion on page orientation. I have changed my default to landscape. I found that designing & cutting in landscape is much more forgiving & easier to line up than portrait. It seems that the further down the page, the more likely it is to have problems with cutting correctly. It also makes it easier to get material placed correctly on the cutting mat. It just gives a generally more consistent result.
Thankyou you so much I hate drawing a shape then having to go back to top to change back to the cursor it’s so frustrating I had no idea I could change it so again thank you
LOVE-LOVE-LOVED this video. Thank you, Becky, so much. The whole shape drawing option was really getting under my skin because I would always forget to hit the select button after each one and I have only had my Cameo 4 Pro for... today is my 2nd day. Thank you.
BECKY- thanks so much for all this help. I'm switching over after using Cricut for years as they are now having so many issues in design space. When it's affecting your workload, you gotta do something different. I've always been too overwhelmed to even attempt to try to use silhouette, so these are very useful and helpful to a newbie... thanks again
Thank You sooo much!! Very informative and VERY EASY to follow along! Not like other videos where they expect you to know the material and move so fast with their mouse you can't follow. Thanks So Much!
Thank you for your comment. Your tutorial was so easy to follow! I do have a question - even though this is an older video, I hope you can help me. I am running version 4.4 of Silhouette Studio with my Cameo 2 machine. It is doing really well with it. I have a background using Adobe Illustrator (I am a designer and was a contributing editor to a magazine for 20 years before it folded) so I am familiar with graphic software in general. But like most, we use our little corner of the program that we need and learn only a fraction of what it has to offer. I am by no means an expert. The issue I am having with my tracing is that it is difficult to get a smooth line. There are a LOT of endpoints and it is hard to get a smooth edge when I trace. My earlier version of the software had a low-pass filter which was what I used for a cleaner line. This version only has a high pass and I leave that off, as when I even use one click it isn't giving me a usable trace. I like to print scrapbook ephemeria and create stickers and cut around the fussy cuts. The graphics I am bringing in are clean and higher resolution - at least 600dpi. (so these aren't vector drawings, but jpegs that I need to trace). How can I make a good trace for these? They take forever to cut because of the 'jiggling' action of the machine on what appears to be a smooth edge because it is following the extra endpoints. While the pieces are somewhat usable and don't look bad really, I want to find a better and more efficient way to trace and cut. Do you have a video on that? Or can you help me? I also noticed that you skipped over the Curve Quality preference on the Display panel of Preferences. Is there any place you explain that function? Or can you direct me? I am having trouble finding what it is for. THANK YOU for your videos. You have a new subscriber. Sorry for all the questions. I just want to use my machine properly. :) Sheila

Hi Becky, I've been watching your videos, they are really helpful for me, thank you sooo much!!! I just got my cameo 4 couple days ago. The software I downloaded is 4.4 version, but most the tutorial videos I watched are using 4.3 ? Some of the settings are different, which one do you think is better? I don't know if there any way I can download 4.3 version? I already tried to cut vinyl a few times, but it never cut deep enough, very hard to weed. I had to manually increasing my cutting force slowly to see which one works better. Is that a normal thing or is there something wrong with my blade? thank you!
Some of the things you went over, I knew, but those things I didn’t know that you shared were extremely helpful. I appreciate your thorough tutorials. Thank you so much for sharing. God Bless. Peace & Blessings!
Thank you Becky, this was a great video. I am an old time Silhouette user I started with the 8” with the SD card I am now on the Cameo 4 and I love the ratchet blade. I know some are having issues with it but I so far have not had any issues with it just nice clean cuts and I don’t have to remember to change the blade setting lol
Hi. I love all these helpful suggestions. Thanks for sharing. I am running into a problem with my fonts and was hoping someone has a solution for me. When I do typesetting in silhouette and scroll down my list of font choices, when I get towards the bottom of my font choices my letters that I've typeset turn into rectangles and there is no turning back. This seems to happen when I get towards my "S" fonts, but not necessarily just there, and then I have to start from scratch. I've reached out to Silhouette several times and can't seem to get a resolution. Any suggestions ? Thanks
I have never been able to connect with Bluetooth… not even once…even after purchasing and installing a new 4.0 Bluetooth. Do you know how to resolve this issue? Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you for sharing! Just got my old Cameo2 back in service, learning those things now that knowing then would have seen much less frustration. Any suggestions for slightly thicker material cutting? Those dollar store kitchen matts might be a good source for painting/crafting stencils. Have gotten the settings just about perfect, w just a little extra help needed to weed and separate pieces out. Maybe others could share their speed/blade/thickness settings for different types of materials?
One tip that I have is to cut in layers. So for example, cut first on a blade of say 5, then again on a blade of 7, then even again on a blade of 9. It will help you get through thicker material better than just trying to force a high blade depth through the first time. Hope this helps! ---Becky

Great information. I just purchased a new Cameo 4 and have been coming to your videos frequently. I am having a problem with it only allowing me to cut on my mat a certain distance. Is there something I am missing?
Hey Terry! I would suggest making sure your Cut Border is turned ON under the Page Setup panel. This should give you a red line to show you where you can cut. Also, make sure that your material size reflects the size you are using. If you are cutting without a mat, you will lose the bottom inch or so because the rollers have to hang onto the vinyl. hello becky !! i would like to know if you can select for the cameo 4 to finish cutting each design completely, instead of leaving out parts and going back to them to finish them at the end. I am looking for this info because sometimes if I interrupt the printing I end un with unfinished parts. can you help!? is there a video where you explain it? thanks
That is how the cameo cuts, you will have to let it finish out it's process as it does do certain parts and then goes back to finish the rest. - Brittany
Hi I love your channel I’m really starting to get into craft and I want to buy a craft machine which do you think it’s better for a beginner thank you for help
Hi becky thanks for the video youv been a massive help I currently have the cameo 4 autoblade waiting on ratchet blade to arrive as this autoblade has been a nightmare I have followed alot of your advice the biggest difference was made when I changed my packet size does this mean my machine is faulty? Once I changed this too 500 lines where cutting better how ever my C and O of letters are not cutting good at all is this a fault with the machine or do you think I will have better luck once the ratchet blade is being used thank you
Hey Symone! Sorry to hear about your cutting troubles. Can you explain more on what happens with your C and O letters? I think the ratchet blade could help if it's the case of misalignment because the blade is trying to cut too deep. Let me know! ---Becky
Hi becky thank you for your reply really appreciate it i have changed to the rachet blade which is a better cut but im trying to cut my logo out which includes c and os on htv and each cut the lines around os and cs look really bad not cut properly I have tried many test cuts many and I do know its the size im trying to cut but on one other htv the cut comes out acceptable not perfect but can be used wen im cutting this new htv premium plus stretch htv by stahls I have tried every setting I feel and u can not get a clean cut parts of letters like at the ends of ts are cut of or wonky I have used to cutting mat this makes it better but its still not a clean cut my s in my logo cuts different each time its very frustrating and I'm not sure if it's a faulty machine or vinyl or just me loool but fir the love of me I can not get a clean cut of my logo they are simple block font nothing fancy I have slowed the speed down increased and decrease the pressure used uped the passes to 2 changed the packet size to 500 brought new rachet blade 😫
Hey Becky have a question. Is there a way to get like the warp setting over to the right tool bar? I see so many different ways peoples top tool bars and the right tool bars look different than mine. Is there a way to change those to what we use the most? Thanks
Nevermind just found if I make my button smaller it puts more on the side. I cant get my manual to pull up. I hope I just need to reopen my studio. But I have some projects pending so gotta wait until I finish those
Can you please explain more about the ratchet blade. I have the cameo 4 , I picked up a ratchet blade now I'm guessing I need the adapter. Do I still need to manually set the blade?
Hey Sheryl! Yes, you should have received the adapter with your Cameo 4, it's the black color adapter. With the ratchet blade, you will have to set the blade depth manually. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Becky, I have just purchased a Cameo 4, do you have a video on calibration/distance adjust please as I have done a print and cut and it is not cutting in the right place

The center star just move up to the big star. I use to be able to move my objects where I wanted to place it. How can I fix this.
Hi Summer! Thank you for watching with us! We aren't aware of a way to rearrange the panel icons, but you may want to check with Silhouette if that is coming out as a feature in their next update!
good morning i have a question.. i have a icon that keeps popping up on my mac called ss bluetooth. what is that & how can you remove that from showing on my bar on the bottom ?
Year 2023 here, how come my software does not have "Layout" option in the Send menuon MacOs? Is there something I have to do? Or has it been collapse to other function?
i want to ask which software should i download if the software is moving slow when i am moving my creations also when i send to print its taking forever to send. & this is only when i am in silhouette. right now i am using the 4.3.370 legacy.
I just bought it cameo 4, about two weeks ago, setup new software. I checked another youtube try find missing ruler. My software on setup pages click grid then there are no rulers, can’t find any where. Kind of missing error software.
Hey John! Great question, and unfortunately I believe I've only ever cut .005, and it's a test setting for me very time. I would start with the "Shrink Plastic" preset in Silhouette Studio and then adjust from there if you need more pressure. You may need more passes, I find passes extremely helpful with plastic to cut it in layers (so to speak) instead of forcing your way through the plastic the first time. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey Becky! Wondering if you have ever had your trace box turn black? I know I must have clicked something at the wrong time. IF you have or anyone has PLEASE let me know! It is driving me crazy... I can't see the threshold.
Hi Becky I just got my silhouette pro. I want to make Aluminum business cards with cutouts all the way through. I do not know what blade to use or what settings. Is this something you can teach me. I don’t know where to get this information. Can you please help me?
Hey Deborah! It's hard to tell without seeing and feeling the cards you are talking about, but I don't believe your Silhouette will be able to cut aluminum. Wish I had better news! ---Becky
You can use Inkscape (free), Adobe Illustrator (paid), Affinity Designer (paid) -- I'm sure there are others out there these are just some that come to mind first :)
Recently my silhouette has started moving to the top of the mat while cutting what looks like a strait line of text in the design space. It just changes position in the middle of the sentence. Any idea how to fix that? Thank you, Dawn
Hey Dawn! Our apologies but it sounds like it may be an error within the software. Is an update available? We would suggest reaching out to Silhouette support just to make sure.
Hi, do have any tip of how to find out a font I used in a project? Normally I forgot which font I used and another customer asked me to use same font . Specially the fonts that I downloaded. Once I welded it doesn’t show the name of font anyMore .
Hey Sueli, the only advice I have on this front is to create a little note in the file that contains the font name. That won't help with past projects but will for future projects. If you're sure you still have the fonts, you can use a website like WordMark.it and usually find the font faster that way. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hey when my cameo 4 starts to cut the vinyl and mat doesnt get loaded in correctly, then when it starts to cut. It cuts right through the vinyl to deep while also taking the vinyl and instead of taking it straight. It starts to slightly rotate. Then when it cuts the blade completely destroys the vinyl.. ripping it while trying to cut if that makes sense. I would love your advice, THANK YOU
Hey there! So it sounds like 2 separate issues. First, make sure you apply a slight amount of pressure to the mat while loading to ensure that both side are loaded in at the same time. Sometimes the rollers will grip one and no the other. Number two, it sounds like your Autoblade isn't adjusting correctly. I have a video that may help you out, but you may want to try switching to a Ratchet Blade or Premium Blade, you will just adjust those manually instead. Hope this helps! ---Becky ruclips.net/video/sla2hHp_y3Y/видео.html
If you save all your files to the hard drive of the computer that you are currently using, how would you use this same file if working with another computer?
Hey Mary, I have an automatic cloud backup service that copies my designs to the cloud every night. You could also set up a home network or save to an external hard drive. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi! I hope you can help me! My silhouette cameo 4 is not cutting on the right place. I’ve done the calibration and distance adjustments and they cut right on those tests. However when I print and cut again, the cut is still wrong..😭
Hey Waffles, unfortunately there are a lot of troubleshooting options for using Print and Cut, it is a temperamental feature. Lighting is very important, and I always have to watch the registration marks run through the process to make sure the machine is picking up the right area. A lot of times it will try to register to the wrong part (reason unknown) and I will have to cancel it before it cuts and try again. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles ahh thank you so much! i figured it was easier for me to save it into pdf and print it before cutting them >< it's the only way that works for me..thank you so much for your assistance!

---Becky
This was a fabulous video. Thanks!
Hi Becky, I have just purchased a Cameo 4, do you have a video on calibration/distance adjust please as I have done a print and cut and it is not cutting in the right place
Hey Sylvia, I do not yet but it is on my list to record this week. I'll try to get it pushed to the front for publishing for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thank you x
Hey Becky I have the cameo 4 and under the blade type theirs no option to choose ratchet blade. Any suggestions?
Becky when I downloaded silhouette cameo 4 sorftware onto my laptop, the sidebars with the rulers won't show. How can I fix the problem.? Yhank yoou, Jo Balusek

Have you updated to the most recent version of Silhouette? - Brittany
Thank you for breaking it down!
am a new cameo 4 customer and bow maker professionally. Can you please tell me if chunky glitter faux leather can be cut in cameo? If yes can u please help me with the settings please as I am not able to find them even on RUclips.
Looking to buy the templates of I could use them on my machine.
Thank you!
One of our employees has a Silhouette Cameo and cuts faux leather without issues. How chunky is the leather you're looking at?
Thank you but do have a question. I had made the star for Dallas Cowboys but when I upgraded my silhouette I am having trouble moving the center star in the center of the outer star. The center star just move up to the big star. I use to be able to move my objects where I wanted to place it. How can I fix this.
Hi there could you do a video on how to use a cb09 please
Can you do a reprint on silhouette Cameo for
Whats the diff from the 2 blades
is there a way to rearange the right side panel icons? i want to add the rhinestone icon, i use it all the time.
I have a cameo plus. But it won’t cut bigger than 12”. I should be able to cut it to 14.6” inches. Can you help?
Year 2023 here, how come my software does not have "Layout" option in the Send menuon MacOs? Is there something I have to do? Or has it been collapse to other function?
So awesome thank you!!! You have gained another sub
Thanks for subscribing! :)
Very helpful! Thanks

Thank You! Love my new settings.
i want to ask which software should i download if the software is moving slow when i am moving my creations also when i send to print its taking forever to send.
Going to cut some Craft Plastic sheets on the cameo 4, its .007 thick, which blade and setting should I use?
---Becky
Love your page
Thanks !
Very enlightening !
Great tutorial!!
Thank you so much! Glad to help - Agata
Is there an app or program you would suggest to convert files to svg for people whom aren't software savvy?
You can use Inkscape (free), Adobe Illustrator (paid), Affinity Designer (paid) -- I'm sure there are others out there these are just some that come to mind first :)
@@DesignBundles thank you. I love using your tutorials!
Another informative video thank you
Recently my silhouette has started moving to the top of the mat while cutting what looks like a strait line of text in the design space.
---Becky
Thank you for your help,Love Ana..
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for all your info!!
This was so helpful, thanks so much!!!
How do I update my software from the cameo 3 to the 4 pro?
Thank you
You're welcome!
"I know that doesn't sound very exciting..." (you) "I'm always excited to see your videos." (me)
Lol thank you for the kind words! 😊
Hi is Cameo 4 can cut 1mm of thick board? What kind of blade?
The Silhouette Deep Cut blade can cut materials up to 2mm thick.
Thank you for sharing
Not a problem, thank you for watching! 😊
---Becky

If you save all your files to the hard drive of the computer that you are currently using, how would you use this same file if working with another computer?
Hey Mary, I have an automatic cloud backup service that copies my designs to the cloud every night. You could also set up a home network or save to an external hard drive. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Is there a way to save them in both places?
I am trying to add dimensions for print page set up. If I go into my printer settings they don't show up ine dropdown menu in Silhouette. I even tried changing the dimensions of an existing page size but then disappeared altogether from dropdown menu. I am unable to find the 'Add Media Size' can you help me fix this, I need to be able to do this. Thank you.
Hi Emma! What version of Silhouette are you using?
I don't have the option for ratchet blade. only manual blade, 1mm. is that the same? just upgraded 4-7-2022
Hi there! Would you mind sharing which version of Silhouette Studio you are using? We apologize for the delay, but we are here to help if needed! - Dawn 🙂
