I'm a British Architect and this has me excited! Have you guys implemented masonry, insulated cavity walls yet? I tried Plusspec a year ago, but without, it was a deal breaker for me. Happy to grab a license if this has been added though!

Hello Adam, thanks for commenting, We have a multiwall solution> From inside of the wall out it has: Cornice, Skirting or base board, Internal lining, insulation inside frame (bats), outside of the stud frame it has a rigid cavity insulation with thickness, then an adjustable cavity and then external brick, the brick can also be painted or rendered and Eaves trim/quad. Is this what you are chasing? I am pretty sure this has been there for some time though. Adam we are in th midst of making a special wall tool that enable syou to add as many layers of wall so your input woudl be helpful. We also have CLT with linning being released this week.
We are commited to continued development and your feedback is always well received. If you would like you can request a demo here plusspec.com/plusdesignbuild/

      Hi @@PlusSpec,
Thanks so much for you're hasty response.
So the type of construction you are referring to is what we call timber-framed construction here in the UK, I'd say about 5 - 10% of new builds here are timber frame, with brick cladding, so your native wall tool would absolutely excel at that type of construction.
Unfortunately, the UK and most of Western Europe is still in the stone age with wall construction, and masonry construction still occupies more than 85% of common construction. the type of typical wall goes something like this (Brick external leaf 100mm) + (100mm Cavity, either solid filled with fibreglass wool, or partially filled with rigid PU insulation) + (100mm low-density breeze block, usually Celcon brand). + (25mm plasterwork zone consisting of, 10mm adhesive zone (dot and dab) 12mm drywall board and 3mm plaster coat). This 325mm type of wall construction is most British builders bread and butter.
I do wish timber frame wall construction was more popular here and also SIPS, but British builders seem very stubborn! the way we construct roofs and internal stud walls are identical to how you Aussies do it though, so those tools are perfect for the British market.
The special wall tool sounds exactly what I'm after, I currently use Profile Builder 3 for my walls/trench foundation details, but its window and door tools are rubbish compared with how your window and door blocks interact with your walls, you guys have created a full BIM package really, which no one else has managed to do inside Sketchup. So perhaps you could steal the basic idea of how the extrusions work in Profile Builder ensuring it integrates with your other tools as perfectly as your current wall tool.
Are you able to offer a rough date for the bespoke wall tool? once that Is implemented this will be the package for me.
I'm happy to give you guys a call on Zoom to show you some of the types of projects we do within the UK and how we detail our walls and foundations, as I said above, internal stud walls, roofs and intermediate floors we do exactly the same.
Thanks guys, really appreciate you taking the time, your product is incredible.

@@gammonface FYI we have been contacted by multiple architects and construction firms in the UK and they highlighted specifics about insulated masonry walls. We are about to release these items publically in PlusSpec 20.9 If you already have a license reach out to us for a beta-version

@@PlusSpec I've trialed and even subscribed to Plusspec once, however as Adam has highlighted it's not quite there yet for the UK market. Did your 20.9 build contain the UK spec masonry walls? If so, I might have another look at PlusSpec.
It's always been looking like you would address the UK market but you never seem to have followed through with it. This blog page from a few years ago shows exactly the construction features being discussed above. It also includes a beam and block floor which would be great. The blog post suggested it was imminent, but did these features ever get implemented? plusspec.com/plusspec-3d-cad-design-and-estimating-software-uk-material-library/

@@kennyb8718 Thanks for remembering PlusSpec Kenny and your comment. In version 20.9 we did several updates. Kenny, we have created multiple skin/layer masonry walls as per your request and others from the UK US. We are creating tutorials now, it'd be great to get some feedback on our beta, if you have the time that is. plusspec.com/
Happy new year, let's hope you guys can rid yourself of Covid soon mate. All the best and thanks again for commenting, we are a family business and do our best to get as much done as we can. Regards Andrew

Do you get plusspec plugin for archicad?

Hello Sudique Sorry I do not understand your question, are you looking to have PlusSpec work inside Archicad? You cn aexport a nd archiCda model to Sketchup yet a better solution is toe export and IFC and then import it using the New IFC Import tool (currently in Beta) in PlusDesignBuild
