Ireland is one of the 3 country's where everything seems just so happy these country's being: 1.Sweden 2.Ireland 3.Holland I know Holland (or the never-lands) have a good chance of sinking into the ocean due to rising sea levels but for now lets just stay happy and trust in Nigel Farage to keep everything great (extremely obvious sarcasm, this isn't even funny).
I love this! I'm in third year and this is great help to understand my history (because being in an all irish school can be a bit confusing sometimes, and these videos help). We watched your previous video in class and watched the one on the cold war. We're all quite fond of you in class. Keep it up! But, why is there so much crap going on in the comments? What's the problem, it's a history lesson, and one of the most important years for the majority of people in our country? Just stop
It's the Unionists who can't accept that 30 of the counties have a Catholics majority and didn't want to be part of their state where they discriminated against them
The Easter rising is a clear example of mens desire for freedom. The men that lost their lives on Easter Monday gave Thier lives for freedom and independence.
no yourself, Britain is the reason that USA, Canada, India, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are modern nations. Don't believe me? Do Maori still eat each other? Do Indians still practice Sati, burning women alive simply for being widowed? Throughout Africa is female genital mutilation still practiced and acceptable? Who inspired the US constitution, which would be evidence for your point? An Englishman by the name of John Locke is who. In fact, just looking at America alone you can see how it was all from Britain, Army, Navy , adoption of enlightenment ideals of British philosophers, I could go on. Britain, though guilty of countless atrocities, is responsible for countless more services to humanity and should not apologise for its past. It made the world a better place, hands down.
Britain made people more civilised Many loyalists, british support for America actually shows british didn’t wholly mistreat ppl, taxes isn’t breach of human rights - independence war was overreaction rly John Locke is pretty fucking popular and influential Indian culture itself is still fucked up, Britain made less so (eg. sati ban) England did do a great job, many countries did have ability to rule selves (US, Canada, Aus etc.) Many countries didn’t and where unequipped to rule themselves, clearly, should have stayed with Britain, fact that they were better off with Britain shows that.
My great grandfather fought in the Easter Rising and was arrested by the British Army for being associated with Michael Collins. I'm glad we're an independent nation now. I'm thankful for our liberation and will always be 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Please please do the Nazi parties rise to power! It would help me out a lot because I watched your World War One video and it helped me out so much for my exam plus I really enjoyed it! Thanks for the Amazing content! Your the best!
+General Hux I think it's more accurate to say that the Irish attitude towards the UK is similar to the UK's attitude towards France. There are some pretty unreconcilable things that happened between them in the past and whilst both nations have moved past them there is still a cultural bias in the air there. Not so much that everyone hates the Brits (though you won't have to look hard to find people like that), but enough that a lot of jokes are made and there is a general stereotype towards the UK that paints a pretty uncharitable picture, one that is generally borne out by experience. The Mexico/USA dynamic is actually closer to the way the UK used to think about Ireland back when they were importing workers to the UK, especially in cities such as Liverpool and Manchester. That isn't a thing in the UK or Ireland anymore and generally the feelings towards Ireland from the UK standpoint are that of a slightly grumpy neighbour. When Ireland struggles people from the UK generally make jokes about how they shouldn't have left the UK, but for most people it doesn't go further than that, and why shouldn't it? It wasn't the English that suffered, it was the Irish. They suffered in the UK far more than Wales and Scotland combined. What remains of the UK were at best mildly inconvenienced by the Irish leaving, whereas for the Irish it was a near constant source of enmity for centuries. So... yeah, this really is more of a thing on Ireland's side than it is on the UK's side, because it was to Ireland that the relevant events happened.
MrCodyPlays your gonna have to be more specific, britain has a long and complicated history, youd have to pick a period, also youtube search, CGP Grey history of the royal family, youd like it
+Isaac McAuley 9/11 really was a lie. Idc what anyone says, everything turned out way too perfect for the government out of a "tragedy" . PATRIOT Act, oil, prestige, getting rid of Sadam when daddy couldn't. Its all far too perfect to ignore.
I watched a video recently on RUclips. A woman interviewed people in Dublin on their thoughts of the Easter Rising. Let me correct people on the truth of the Easter Rising. 1. The Easter Rising is nothing to be proud of. A minority of terrorists attempting to impose their ideology on other people through the use of violence. No different then IS attacks in Paris or Brussels in recent months. 2. It wasn't an all-Island or countrywide rising. It was a Dublin rising with I believe 2 very similar attempts in Galway and Wexford that were nothing worth talking about. 3. The Easter Rising did not achieve Independence. An Irish State had already been promised in LAW through the British Parliament in London after World War 1 ended. That promise was fulfilled as set out in the 3rd Irish Home Rule Bill. All the Easter Rising done was to put hate in the hearts of many in Ireland. It left almost 500 people dead, Dublin destroyed and possibly led to Northern Ireland refusing to be involved in the new Ireland. 4. One woman said "we must celebrate those who give their lives for our country". While why then for example will Ireland barely mention never mind come to a standstill in memory tens of thousands of truly brave Irishmen (many/most of them Nationalist) who gave their lifes for Ireland during World War 1? They will be forgotten, their sacrifice will be air-bushed out of history. 5. One man mentions that the Rebels "give their lives for democracy". That is the opposite of what these men done. These men were elected by no-one. They did not command the support or the respect of Irish people, nor were they acting on their behalf. They murdered and wounded like common terrorists would do.
Oh, the night fell black and the rifles crack Made "Perfidious Albion" reel 'Mid the leaden rail, seven tongues of flame Did shine o'er the lines of steel By each shining blade, a prayer was said That to Ireland her sons be true And when morning broke still the war flag shook Out its fold in the Foggy Dew.

I'm Irish (just saying) but I can't stand the siptu(Liberty hall) building. It is a hideous insult to the Dublin skyline
I agree fucking rotten looking building and it has all the 1916 posters on the side of it which is even more hideous

I went to Dublin last Easter and saw some of the Irish army and some guys with German karabiner rifles
Just can't imagine such a, dare I say, a British ( as in the shared cultural look) city being shelled or becoming a warzone.
It's an Irish city dammit
It carried on until the 'peace walls' still around and until then it was essentially a civil war in the 20th century
lovablesnowman I know fam, but there is a shared look due to the interaction of the two countries.
+oscar strokosz well ww2 germany shelled London many times
