Its a real shame that the state of the oval track was pretty bad when I visited. Trees fallen over the track, grass growing trough and bad maintenance... such a shame...

I believe that in 1957, the Monza oval was used for an event called "Race Of Two Worlds", in which Indianapolis-type cars raced against Formula 1 cars.
Since Indy cars could only turn left, both the Indy cars and F1 cars ran counter-clockwise.
Supposedly, the fastest F1 car finished behind all of the Indianapolis-type cars that finished the race.

I realize this is coming in late, but the full race course with the oval was used in the Sports Car International Championship of Makes in the 1960s; with the race length being 1000 km; or 100 laps. Imagine driving a Porsche 908 or a Ford GT 40 for 1000 km with being on that banking for 100 laps; of course, the race had a two-driver tandem.
The oval was no longer used for the sports car races in the 1970s.

They’d run the front stretch twice in one lap. There were cones separating it down the middle.
You’d exit parabolica and you’d be on the right side of the front stretch and you’d head onto turn 1 of the oval.
When you came off turn 4 of the oval you’d be on the left side of the oval and you’d head down to curve grande to start the road course.

Altrimenti come ?

Ciao Fabrizio
