I just got an R100 yesterday, and it came with the kit lens and the 55-210 lens. I took the 210 out to the river in the back, and got the best pictures of flowers I have ever had. Then I heard a noise, and on the opposite side of the river was a young spotted white tail deer who came and started to eat some plants on the river. It was a religious experience. I was able to see a deer closer then I ever have in my life. I am hooked on photography.

Nice video Jack! one question - why there is lot of heat haze effect and chromatic aberration in initial video of Deer? is it 1200mm lens issue or video upload issue?
Not every day is there a video of someone using the rf1200 , Pity you never captured the Yacht in the far distance . As was hoping to see an image of it .
I'm sorry but as much as possible I avoid anthropic elements in my videos. You can just see details of the opposite island distant from my location about 40km (25 miles) at the 07:48 minute
@@Jackinthenature, It increases the selling point . Because there is very few indepth reviews of the 22,000 lense . On another note if you mimic the roe deers bark/call they'll stop n look at you .
@@colintraveller I understand that, it is a very rare lens that would take more time to review, although that was not the purpose of my video anyway. many thanks for the advice to better observe deer, but I always prefer to remain invisible and avoid interacting with wildlife at most.

@@Jackinthenature I couldn't agree more! I love taking videos and photos of all of the animals in my area. I believe there is always room for improvement. And even getting the same animal with different angles makes for a different and unique photo or video!
Hi! For roe deer and bird photography I used the Gitzo GT3533LS with the gimbal head, and from the photo blind I used the SIRUI AM 284 with a video head. You can find all the links of my equipment in the video description.
One of the best photos of wild birds I have was taken very close up, none of them were hiding or setting up a camera trap, I only have the kit lens, I got the camera to about 30 centimeters from the bird to take the photos, for this one the bird was on a branch quite high in the tree and started showing off, even spreading its wings. A curiosity: this is my first camera and I've had it since January, before that I used my cell phone. I managed to take the photo I mentioned 3 days after the post office delivered my camera... When people tell me I'm lucky, I think it's more likely that the "Disney princess" effect exists.
Hi Wolfer, thanks for the comment! I honestly didn't quite understand what you're trying to tell me...I can tell from your description that these are birds that are used to human presence and that's why they let themselves get so close
Many thanks! I'm sorry to answer you only now.. But I also invite you to watch my other videos and if you like I suggest you subscribe to the channel because new adventures will be coming out soon! Jack
You should also try the Nikon Z 800mm because it takes 1.4X and 2X teleconverters and obviously with a Z8 or Z9 you have 46Mpix to play with...This new lens is cheap compared to the one in this video.
It would be very nice for sure, I love Nikon!Unfortunately, I don't deal much with reviews and tests of equipment in my videos, so I don't think I'll get the chance, but never say never!
Grazie infinite Giampaolo! Unfortunately, I have never used telescopes for photography, so I don't know. However, I think that with a telescope you could get even "closer" to the subject than with the 1200mm, but you should have a mount to connect the camera to it somehow... Please if you know more about it, let me know! thank you so much!
@Jackinthenature Sure :) Most of the telescopes have a 1.25", 2" or the large ones 3" opening for the camera. You then only need a "T-Adapter" for your camera like Nikon, Sony, Canon from your camera to let's say 2". Sometimes you also need 2" extension tubes to get into focus. But that's basically it. 😉

The heat haze effect is due to the huge distance between me and the subject. The 1200mm was taken to the limit
