This video was artificially aged. That type of rust is short terms. Plus wood doesnt rust unlesss it was soaked in rusty water. Shame that you ruined a piece of history for views
i dont get it
I still enjoy watching these restorations, artificially aged or not.
True
Tbh Don't care.
Yes sir, it’s fake as hell
If that gun was that rusted every single screw would be toast . Every screw he pulled out was fine except for the “ rusty” head .
So what you thinking it's a fluke job 🤔
I was just about to comment this exact thing.
Was thinking the same thing 😂
Same. And the wood under the parts removed is brand new. This is probably a movie prop gun he threw in salt water for a few days to make this video.
Its fake
That’s amazing!!! How long does it take for wood to rust like that?😂😂😂😂😂 I’ll admit I was born in the night but it wasn’t last night.
My son-in-law is a gunsmith this can be two pitted and not even worth the effort.
I love how the rust even managed to get underneath the protective cloth wraps.
Its funny that cos for how rusty and corroded that was the screws all seemed to come out really easily! where can I get some of that rust, I take it it was out of a bottle. Do these people really think we are that stupid
Wood corrodes and gets dirty. I’m sure it’s fake but it would be this way regardless and it’s not rust. The condition would likely be way worse if it was a real one he found and the wood would be badly damaged if it wasn’t rotted away already.
@@gabecollins5585Old wood turns grey. Wood buried in dirt rots away within years unless it's incredibly dry where it's buried. Europe doesn't have anyplace like that that I am aware of, but maybe. Wood aging next to iron or steel turns black, it doesn't turn rusty. The only way that occurs is if you place the object in a salt bath and let the surface fast rust, turning the water orange and that water stains the wood.. Old rust is darker, as it can undergo several oxidation states. Fresh rust is bright orange.
I had an old friend who was WWII vet, fought in the Pacific . He was from Missouri and had a little accent. He didn't talk about the war much but once he said " I had a Tommy gun, I got it off a guy. HE DIDN'T NEED IT ANYMORE! ".
Would have loved to hear his story 😢
I like the rusted wooden stock--it matches the coating on the rest of the firearm. Someone needs to producing a series on faking firearm restorations.
There's a channel who routinely does weapon restorations and he has a video out that shows you what you should be looking for to identify a fake restoration. Rusty wood is one of the warnings because if it was in the conditions necessary to rust up the metal that much, it would rot the wood, not rust it.
Backyard Ballistics has some videos on how to spot them
✅ ~ this is one of the stereotypical “fraudulent” pre-rusted gun videos = the fraudster wants you to watch the adverts and not him committing fraud
Backyards ballistics has already made a video about how to spot fake restorations
I especially liked the old rags conveniently located in the barrel, gawd forbid any rust makes it to the rifling in the barrel.
Yeah I saw that and was scratching my head.
ххаха и за 50 лет не сгнившие вместе с металлом и тем более с деревом
It’s not like it couldn’t have been stored that way on purpose to preserve it years ago. The outside getting covered in rust but not the barrel. it doesn’t automatically mean the guy is a fraud. Could mean it was stored in a leaky wooden box like most military equipment from that era. Y’all are just hateful people looking for somebody to hate on.
Fake
Amazing how lucrative this patina simulation has become. This chap is raking it in.
Partly because we are viewing and commenting. Even negative views and comments count toward monetization.
Bold choice to base your views on an audience that's just clicking to say you suck.
I love the compensator on the Thompsons barrel who’s with me?
Please show me that rust bath where your weapons are aged! It would be very interesting to see what awaits us in the next episodes! We ask you very much! Please! 😍👍
Yep. "Rust" all over the wooden parts...
Dried mud dirt type stuff
@@klingonbaronessprincesskar5519Mud is almost always brown. Tell me why those RUclipsrs seem to always get their guns from the places where earth has a red tone to it.
Triggered are we? Butt hurt too?
@@rumeunner3245You seem very concerned about the state of his butt ? 😂
Although these videos are fake as fuck, it's still satisfying. Also, in case there are people who think this gun is real and they just ruined an authentic piece of history, it's a fake gun as well. You can buy restoration kits online that are simply for the satisfaction of restoring them. You can also see these exact restoration kits in other restoration videos. So don't worry, no actual WWII firearms were hurt in the making of this video.
Where can you but kits like that , that would be great for a wall hanger
The gun at the end is a Russian PPS 43.. did the restoration change it from a Thompson to this? Maybe I missed something... hmmmm
The Thompson is a genuine late production M1928A1, it was not fake.
@@PieAndChipsthe gun was not fake, it's condition was entirely fake.
Why would this be satisfying when you know they took something that was likely in decent condition ( this was a real firearm, the replicas are not finely milled steel ) then destroyed it with intentional corrosion, just so they can very very poorly " restore " it to a condition that still looks like crap ?
Just go watch Jimmy Diresta build something, or watch Mark Novak expertly breath life into an old firearm while making you want to learn everything you can from him.
How did you get the wood to rust?? I've never seen that in nature. You must be some kind of sorcerer.
It's called water
@@digbigerwater makes wood rust lol….dumb bozo.
It's artificially aged (which I'm guessing you know). Kind of fucked up he ruined the gun for views- hopefully it was already bad and he just made it semi worse.
@@digbigerno it's not
@@digbiger Duh, would doesn't rust. Ferrous metals rust. FYI Ironwood trees are not actually made of iron.
I bet Mark Novak on Anvil gets a nice chuckle watching this video. That amount of age rust would totally destroy the barrel making it worthless. Besides, rust is oxidation of the iron in the steel. Once the rust occurs the metal pits and can't be renewed. The mating surfaces of the action would have fused and the surface on all parts deeply pitted. Nice looking replica.
I was digging in my yard,and I found............a rock.
hehe... just sayin
Nice vise grip teeth marks on flash suppressor! I'm with the "you ruined it" crowd.
It's not an authentic gun, just a replica. The whole thing is staged and faked.
THIS. I stopped watching to come comment after seeing those vice grips come out. Dudes a Butcher.
@@ChristopherPayneI went to the comments after he slammed it down on the vise to get out the internals. Hack!
I'll bet it's a replica.
Not a flash supressor- it's a Cutts compensator. Directed gasses upward to help keep the muzzle from climbing when firing.
Watch, or dont watch for your own reasons skills none the less, and a nice end product and a nice video to watch at the end of the day. I enjoy them 👍
My dad used a Thompson during the two tours he led a platoon on the islands of the South Pacific in WWII. I wish he'd brought it back with him. It was men like him shaped this nation ... not at all like the 'men' and women we have in DC today or many of our new age 'generals'. He earned a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and about 24+ other medals for his efforts. But our modern 'leaders' are a disgrace to the memory of those who fought in the useless, bloody wars for them.
Marine? Semper fi, mac! It would be subject to a federal permit for a fully automatic weapon per the 1934 law.
The wood can't rust bro...✌️ Next time 🧠👌 keep it up 💪
About as fake as they come
Probably a replica.
@jeffburnham6611. I don't think it's a replica but it may be. Everything inside this weapon looked like it was working. But what he did is fake. The very first thing that caught my attention was wood does not rust. The cloth that was tied around the handle and was down in the breech. It would have been completely rotten. There would have been hoes and rust pits all over this weapon. No I don't think that thompson is a replica. But I can never trust watching. What this guy does ever again.
just watch it and stop complaining hes getting views off of bots like you
Все наоборот.сначало нужно снять тряпки и смочить окислителем а уж потом очистить от ржавчины щеткой . Не понятно как он работает. Не профи.
Bruh he was restoring a Thompson and it ended up a PPSH😂
Being a restorer of Swiss K31's it's exciting to see the wood come back to life.
I love how there's absolutely zero corrosion on this modern replica.
Not a modern replica.
1942 Savage production gun.
Serial number is clearly visible at 18:25.
Goodness, the respirator, burners and chemicals was making me think he was BREAKING BAD for a minute. 😂. The restoration turned out beautifully. 👍🏻
If you accidentally drop your Thompson into a brine filled tank and then forget about it for two weeks, you to can easily rectify your mistake by following along with this video
Why wait two weeks, just soak it in a solution of hydrogen peroxide, vinegar and salt. YEARS of rust in a few hours.
Great armorer to take it completely apart and put it back. I know I’d have a couple of springs, pins and screws left over 😀
I rebuilt an engine in the ‘70’s between tours of Vietnam. I had a little ZipLoc bag full of springs and screws “leftover”
and put another 18,000 miles on a 119,000 mile motor before selling the car. I put the baggy of parts in the glove compartment in case it had to be rebuilt again so that maybe there would be someone who knew what they were doing would need them. 😀👍
Lol, all the threads of all the screws are in perfect shape, when you fake stuff, try harder. Love how shiny the recoil spring still was 🤦♂️
I know why around the barrel. Cause of heat 👀 WOW your really good. 👍👍
Damn my first time I've seen rusted wood. and them screw threads looked like new
and the spring inside , just wtf :))))
Yea rusty screw heads, well oiled screw threads.
N1👋👋👋 complimenti. Bravura e passione per quello che fai.
Actually Thompson had 5 variants, this one looks correct in every way.
All the features indicate that it is a late production M1928A1 circa 1942, possibly manufactured by savage.
No, it doesn’t, the ‘28 did not have the rear L-shaped peep sight.
@@dewilderdbetter The late production M1928A1 used the simplified Lyman 'L' sight.
It was introduced around June 1942.
@@mosthole Serial number is clearly visible at 18:25.
S- 529759.
Savage production circa August 1942.
Let's talk about how jet black and shinny those nails looked as he disassembled it lol. Shinny is the new rusty
Sadly, this isn’t a gun left out since the 20’s. I’m a historical restoration specialist. The patina on that gun is a couple weeks old, at best!
You know-it-all people can say what you want to about the rust and all that other stuff, but you know what, these videos are still very interesting to me, so let me enjoy them, thank you.

That wood and the tape on the grip are in amazing shape considering it’s almost 100 years old! Nice try, you earned a thumps down
Must feel good to when have that one all rusty and all can't imagine the satisfaction of having it restored yourself for yourself man thanks for sharing 🎉
@@mostholeIt's a 1942 Savage produced gun and not a modern recreation.

It would be impossible to restore this gun because it would have too many pits in the in the metal. My son-in-law is a gunsmith and I see guns that come in that aren't anywhere near this shape and they're just impossible to redo.
I am a 60 year old African American woman in a small town in Missouri.I tell you that I find this work so interesting.the shine on that wood is amazing

When he grabbed onto the Cupps Compensator with ViceGrips I started choaking… pounding out the pins with non-brass drivers got a squeak from gritted teeth… using a STEEL brush on all the machined parts made my common sense warning buzzer go off… I left this restoration feeling like I had internal injuries.
Steel drivers marr the pins… brass is soft and does not damage the surface.
Also, the pin punch was too small. He banged the parts on top of the vise to separate them. When he was tapping out the part with the trigger guard, he was tapping on the guard instead of low down next to where the parts were attached. I cringed multiple times during this. He seemed to be in a rush. Also he scraped the stock, and used sandpaper against the grain. I would have used ultra fine steel wool, and followed the grain. There seemed to be so many dodgy processes, although I'm no gunsmith.
Me & the sheriff was deer hunting in the Carolinas in the 80s around the swamps and found a H&K/SL7 308 . leaning against a tree. Could tell it had been there several years . Pretty ruff shape , so I carried it out end of day & sheriff ran numbers for me make sure wasn't stolen . Came back clean not stolen . So he didn't want it so I cleaned it up and got it back to like new state and it was a very nice weapon . And very accurate luckily the barrel had been plugged by mud wasps and saved the rifling.
Bonjour. Perte de temps effroyable pour du faux à tout niveaux. Il est préférable de sauvegardé ce qui est une évidence historique. Après tout ,chacun son délire !
Sehr gute Arbeit Junger man..🇩🇪🙏🤔👏👏🌟🌟👍🤗😊
Wow that spring is cleaner than my weapon
Was about the write the same thing. He missed to rust that part. 0:42 😂
Enhorabuena. Tus trabajos son espectaculares; de verdad. Sigue así. 👏👏👏
I think the process should've started with removing the magazine and making sure it's not loaded first.
Awesome shop and skills. Nice video. Thanks for showing your work. Very cool.
Rusty wood? That's a new one 🤣
Grass can get rust on it
Boy you are a bad ass when it comes to restoration of any gun
Si tiene un guardamanos ya hecho¿ porqué hace otro?. En varias tomas aparecen los dos.😮Que maravilla de metal oxidado, sin una sola marca,ni picado.Milagroso.😊
Tommy guns are everywhere, you just have to go out back and pick them from the trees and follow this educational video.
The restoration was so complete the finished product wasn’t even the Thompson … just damn
Awesome job!!!!! 👍🏾👌🏾👏🏾💯
I don’t know if it’s fake or not, don’t really care. You show some excellent workmanship. Thank you!
Restoration of antiques did a real restore. That gun had to be at least 80 years old severely rust damaged.
Channel locks on the muzzle brake?! 😮
Yeah he could have used some tape or plastic to prevent the teeth from making marks. Oh well
How’d he go from a Thompson to a PPS-43💀
Thank you someone who recognises the gun

Not even going to lie these videos are oddly satisfying 🤣😭
Not of you k own anything about firearms. It's all fake
In the 1970s, I served in a Brazilian navy unit where there were some of these submachine guns. I always did shooting exercises with them, they are an excellent weapon.
nice rust paint job.. almost perfect rust pain
Is all the wrapping with gauze and tape and cord actual prep for long-term storage, or just for dramatic effect. Please explain.
It was a make shift fore grip since the original wood one was gone.
Uh more difficult to retrieve fingerprints?
Yes.
Actually they used burlap to wrap there weapons for comfort.
Nothing was shown about the inside of the barrel.
Ah yes, I hate it when my wood furniture gets rusty.
Where do they find all theese super rusty weapons that after 1 bath looks brand spanking new?
Lots of stuff still buried around Europe/Africa/Italy that does still turn up from time to time.
Enjoyable restoration to watch!
We're not living in the "Roaring 20s" any more, especially here in CA. Wish I lived whereever you are 😟
All the weapons you restore, seem to rust and oxidize and deteriorate the exact same way. . . are you finding them in a lake, stream? mud?
He finds them in the tub full of chemicals he puts them in to rust
@@LordHumungus-eg2dw Thanks......there is something so deceptive about this restoration video

Great video my dad was a gunsmith and could do and make anything great job reminds me of the things he did when he was alive, you should see the Mauser sporting rifles he made for the grand kids😀
The amount of fake rust on this one 😂 it looks like a Doritos
It may be true about all what the comments say on this video but, what it really matters for me is the restoring procedure and the use of specific tools to do it properly...
I'm a gunsmith and you're not, a gunsmith wouldn't do that to any gun.
Well color me curious, but if you DID happen to by some miracle find an old rusted Thompson, how would you repair it??? I mean would you give it the classic look? Or bring it into the 21 century and give it a more modern and tactical style to it??
I was curious about the restoration techniques myself. Normally, you would clean the gun up without removing the petina, and you definitely wouldn't scrape the shyt out of it. Am I correct on that assessment?
No tf we wouldnt
Wish i that that kind of equipment to just fuck around
I'm not a gunsmith, and even I wouldn't rust a gun purpose

Is it a civilian Tommy then? Like only single shot. I feel like his restoration was not the worst but I don’t understand is it not a real ww2 Tommy?
@@jacklagsthe civilian ones of that day were not single shot. If it’s real, and was liscensed properly back then, it would be a transferable machine gun and work a shit load. How to ruin one of the best combat weapons ever made! Step 1: Drop the entire thing into a corrosive bath so you can make a video. Step 2: Do a DIY bluing job on a firearm that’s supposed to be parkerized, and do so badly that the exposed metal looks like a Rorschach Test. Step 3: Stain the wood when a simple linseed oil wipe would have done the trick. Pathetic and disgusting!
