Should be mentioned that the Day/Noon/Night icons affect the catch rates of fish, so the suggested baits to get the fish for intuition might not be the best choice or even be capable of catching them at all depending on the cycle. This guide is great for letting people know what fish proc the current, but until there's more detailed information, it's generally better to use a wide range of bait pre-intuition as it does help get that extra +10% bonus per zone at the end and even out the catch rates if you happen to say use Ragworm on Northern Strait as it has the lowest catch rates for Dagger on Noon.

Meoni, I love your content, but this guide contains a lot of misinformation, so I'd like to correct it for anyone still going after the mount. 1) Chovy can be caught with any bait, but the preferred bait is actually krill. 2) Super important, intuition has NOTHING to do with spectral fish, you do not need it to catch them, but it is a group effort, catching a spectral fish does not guarantee a current. We don't yet know how many it takes. 3) Likewise, catching an intuition fish (like Drunkfish) does not proc spectral currents. As for my own advice, it's counterintuitive, but buy hi-cordials and save your gp (try to have at least around 800 max gp). If you purely want to go for points, use preferred bait for each intuition fish in each area, as this tends to be the preferred bait for spectrals too. If a current pops, cancel your cast and switch to plump worms. Wait for a !!! Tug (or !! If you're not getting very lucky) and double hook. You have 2 minutes per spectral window. You should attempt to get 3 double hooks off, using your hi cordial for 400 extra gp. Once the current ends, switch back to your normal bait and regain your gp, hoping for a second or third current. Given enough time, you'll hit 10k. After your 3rd spectral current (if you have one) feel free to use patience to spend the rest of your gp. That's just my method, personal best is 12k, going for 16. Edit because it's been a while and we know a lot more. Truthfully, spectral fish have a chance to pop a current when caught, it's not a hard number. Also in spectral currents, getting a 4x double hook on a good value fish is important, usually the fish that only spawn during certain times. I recommend the route that ends with Rhotano during the day. This is called the shark route. You use plump at the bay, and double hook !!! In spectral for guaranteed funnel sharks, use krill in southern strait and switch to plump for spectral, try to mooch aetherlouse into a dh, though this is very rng so it might be worth using patience instead. Use plump again in rhotano and in spectral DH on !!! for guaranteed executioners. Remember, this is for Rhotano Route time Sunset>night>day.
Worth noting, sometimes even with current, the weather/time/luck is lousy and the whole boat will do poorly. Just keep showing up at the boat and you'll eventually get it.
My brother got me into going on this ship and Im so glad cause its so fun lol. still working on the mount since its only been a few days, but my second ever run I finished with a 9922.... way mad lol got lucky where 1 fish was giving me 930 points during the spectral run killerjaw i think it was. thx for the great guide
A note for people is that it's not mandatory to have the Fisher's Intuition buff to catch the fishes that cause the Spectral Currents, but the likelihood of getting one of those increases with said buff (still a very low chance though). I was extremely lucky in that I caught the Spectral Megalodon HQ with no buff and a Ragworm and immediately summoned the currents after only 35 seconds passed on the timer. It's still purely RNG given the nature of fishing, but attempting to get the Intuition buff is your best bet.
@@ninponighthawk Yes, it's a chance on catch. Spectral Currents won't spawn allways, hence why all 24 people on the boat want to try and catch the fishes that proc it, so there's more chances to have it.
I got lucky after a stream of horrible boat ride and was just 250 points off from getting the title along with the mount, the mount was my goal though so I was so happy to have finally got it and got so lucky~ to those trying for it I wish you luck and hope you get it~

This information isn't correct. The baits are right, but the 'rare' fish don't offer a chance at spectral current, only the spectral fish do. You don't need to go for the intuition buff to go for the spectral phase.
I just wanted to comment on this that the way to actually obtain the mount after getting the achievement now is to go into the "Achievements" menu from the Main Menu, find the achievement, and claim the reward there. Jonathas doesn't give out achievement rewards anymore.
I initially wanted the whale mount because its soo cool....didnt want to pay for it though on mog station... Then this video pops up in my recommended!!!!! So stoked to try and get it now!
I haven't tried going into this yet, I wanted to make sure all my fishing gear was up to date before I started. Just need to collect the Professional's Rod for myself and I'll feel comfortable about going. Though I have to say, hearing you say that anyone can do this does make me feel a little more at ease
Not got mine yet but am getting close, plus my levels for fishing are going up pretty fast while doing it. Even if you're level one, doing the ocean fishing will push you two to four levels depending on which level you start on.
Catching a Spectral fish is the only way you'll trigger a current. Even after you catch one, it still comes down to a chance of whether or not the current will trigger. That's RNG and that's how FSH works.
@@RightFangIkit that's why I'm trying my hardest to get the mount now because it's going to die just like the rush of the restoration did soon as people hit 80. Now it's just collecting the mount nothing else unless they add more goodies in future.

He reposted info from a reddit thread that was pure conjecture. We've known his info was bad the moment he uploaded, and we've only learned more since then.
I feel like as a new fisher I can't possibly hit the numbers necessary to even get the minion, let alone the mount because I don't have any abilities that seem to do anything of note. Fisher seems odd in that regard as I just hit lvl 40 and I still only have like 6 things on my bar unlike both my culinarian and botanist which are lvl 25 and 30 respectively and have a ton of things on the bar that use their main resource to help with the job. The XP is excellent though and is the reason my fisher is lvl 40 after 4 days whereas the other jobs I started at the same time are only 25 and 30.
You don't need the same amount of button bloat on a Fisher than you do a crafting class. At the end of the day you're just catching something, they shouldnt be complicating it with too many buttons to worry about
This may have been changed since the video was made, but I didn't have to find any NPC to claim the mount. I simply clicked on an icon next to the achiement after getting the required 10k+ points. Btw, I now have two mounts that I can't use, this one and the Legacy Chocobo. I guess it's because I'm only lvl 22 and there probably is some unlock later, but I can't find info about it so I don't know. I simply get a message about not being autorised if I try to summon one of them. Quite frustrating.
Intuition is a fucking trap. I just helped carry a boat in getting the mount and we just had to shout telling the bait for spectral fish, we got all 3 currents in less than a minute after starting a zone.
my question is, is it more valuable to just use double hook in spectral or just pop patience through spectrals? because you can't double hook while in patience due to insufficient hooking. So which is better?
Double hooking if you can get one of the large tugs that can double hook into 4 fish. Requires a decent gathering stat and some luck though, but that's been my experience.

So im on Heavensward and my highest score was 9000 and that was because 3 spectral currents triggered. Guess its not possible to get the mount without double hook?

I've read guides that you really do need to try to have a minimum of 800GP and some hi-cordials. Some guides say not to waste your GP on Patience and save it all for Double Hook so you can maximize your score during the spectral current. So maybe a guide on how to get better fishing gear to get more GP?
Do you need to be max fisher to do this? I've never unlock fishing since I was never interested in it, but now...I really love this mount if I have to lvl fishing up to max, that's kind of daunting for me.
Does this give you XP? Not really concerned about the mount, but just wanna easy way to get fisher to 80 so i dont have to worry about it until next expansion.

I would say forget patience and go all out on double hook in spectral. So you get 2 or 3 doubles in a spectral. So did i got over 15k points

always thought it's hard, tried it once today and got 14k first time doing random stuff
Not got mine yet but am getting close, plus my levels for fishing are going up pretty fast while doing it. Even if you're level one, doing the ocean fishing will push you two to four levels depending on which level you start on.
I started at lvl 4 and cleared 9 lvl per trip till I hit 3

I've read guides that you really do need to try to have a minimum of 800GP and some hi-cordials. Some guides say not to waste your GP on Patience and save it all for Double Hook so you can maximize your score during the spectral current. So maybe a guide on how to get better fishing gear to get more GP?
On my experience, at least that Southern Strait one is wrong. I did just as guide said, but spectral current didn't trigger.

I had three spectral currents but i never fish and didnt know what i was doing so i only got 8000 points 😭
Do you need to be max fisher to do this? I've never unlock fishing since I was never interested in it, but now...I really love this mount if I have to lvl fishing up to max, that's kind of daunting for me.

Yes it gives you xp, so you could level your fisher quite well through this.

I think you need to re do this guide as intuition is not tied to spectral currents.

Levequests and Beast Tribe quests until you can get Collectables, then focus on that.
Just spam leves and do your daily GC deliveries. Beast Tribes are good if you want to rank them up but leves are the way to go now.
