Interesting demo does show what Fripp added to this song. Also shows how Bowie can take something simple relatively bland and create a master production. Just look at how moonage daydream morphed
This truly highlights how Mr.Fripp and his snarling guitar are such a huge part of the bitterly vitriolic tone of Scary Monsters. It's as if they're punching against the kitsche conception of a 70s style bodiddy beat. The whole album is.
Earth keeps on rolling, Skylabs are falling. I guess David changed that lyric knowing one day another generation would be listening and have no idea about the reference. Miss you David.😢
Given the sound quality of this i would consider this to be an alternative mix rather than a "Demo". It literally sounds as if it is ready for a release of its own rather than the "lo-fi" distinctly amateur sound normally expected of a raw demo which might or might not see the light of day. What say you??.
Read some other comments. This is the finished track almost minus Fripp.surprisingly funky. Great stuff from Dennis,George and Carlos but still by Bowie standards ordinary until Frippertronics. I wonder what Bowie told him to do
Not many people notice or appreciate how bloody good the bass lines are on Bowie's songs on Scary Monsters. This and Ashes to Ashes especially
Marg... you are SO right!!!
Thank Tony Visconti
yes FUYCK YES

The Drummer is the Star of the arrangement.
Dennis Davis..RIP
Aw man, I love how nicely simple it sounds. It's amazing! :3
you should listen to whole "Vampires Of Human Flesh" album
Love this version. I want to play it live. So inspiring. Thanks David.

Honestly prefer this version
without Robert Fripp - NEVER!
@@ThePaulv12 its so much more upfront and honest, still prefer it!
David at his best.
Wonderful, one of my favorite tracks on Scary, love the pre "production" thank you!
Pretty sure the drums on this track made it to the final cut
Interesting. I must say I prefer the final version though. But then again Scary Monsters is _the_ perfect rock album, how could it be improved:-)
Ah this is great, and that's a great pic of Bowie!
This is cool where did you find this gem.
Cameras in Brooklyn
Une pure merveille ah il manque à monde de la musique la classe
This isn’t a demo. Listen to the drums and bass - it’s the actual final rhythm track.

No, definitely a different take, if well-rehearsed and recorded. Perhaps not a demo anymore but obviously not a mix of the finished song.
Love
I think this is my favorite Bowie song
GREAAAT!!
No Fripp on top, the chassis's a sweet ride
version magique symple efficace le roi bowie a encore beaucoup a nous faire découvrir
Oui! Tres bien!
wow, what basic, anorexic demo; Visconti truly is a wizard, the Scary Monsters album is one of the best produced albums of tha 80s!
I think here it is not grasp it but grasp Him
delicious, he is crystal clear here.. 😍😍😍😍
...wow...
That bass line is just ridiculous.

Play hairy chested guitar like Ritchie Blackmore.
Eh, prefer the album track. One of my favorites.
cool..thanks...

Not Fade Away

#Its Got Nothing to do with YOU if one can GRASP IT!.. While WE sleep THEY go to work,WERE LEGALLY CRIPPLED IT'S THE death OF lOVE#
A great song just needs the bare minimum to sound great.
sounds like this would fit in more with Let's Dance (album)
You're legally crippled
it can not be improved
