I'm relearning this song but the speed, precision and delicate touch that you illustrated has me captivated; very inspiring! I hope to emulate this sound in the future.
My daughter is going to play this song for the competition in April 2014. We watched Dr.Alan 's cover for many songs. She played Toccatina last time and won the golden prize. Thank you very much.
I heard this performance. I felt the quickness of spiders' I come to mind that the spiders are moving quickly. Good job!!! Nice performance. Thank you so much. (I am a Japanese.)
My goodness, you pay 'EVERYTHING', THANK YOU. Your music has helped me so much as I have returned to studying music and trying to play. If I could package your talent, just so very perfect.
Musically expressive, at least for this piece. I enjoyed it... Burgmüller, one of the most underrated piano composers ever. He's brilliant and essential to gaining ground with technique, just as much as Hanon, theory/scales and Czerny.
The most essential ways are constant practice and IMPROVISATION. The latter part, sadly, has always been mostly neglected in formal music education. Besides, prima vista, exposure to large variety of music, rhythmic exercises, legato/staccato difference is important. Learning the "live and feel" the music, now that's a skill, how it is energy, feelings, flow, rhythms, not just an exercise but like a force of nature or some continous parabola. Only now, after 15 years, do I feel I finally "get" music well enough and can concentrate on it properly, as paradoxical as it sounds. Bach's Wohltemperierte and Beethoven's Sonatas are good ones to try out technique, even from beginning. Czerny is good too. Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Alkan, good at the later advanced stages.
My daughter and I absolutely love Dr. Huckleberry's playing! Every time my daughter has to learn a new piece we search for Dr. Huckleberry's videos to hear how he has played that piece.
Is this ROMANTIC PERIOD ? or Classical? I have to play a non-classical or barroque piece for a test, and i was thinking about this one. Very well played. thank you.
Hello Dr. Huckleberry: Love the way you play this piece. Your video is very helpful for my daughter, who is learning the piece. We have a question: we noticed you use the pedal a little bit here and there in the piece, but we can't always tell where because it's not clear in the image if your foot is actually pressing on the pedal or just sort of floating/resting above it. Can you give us some direction as to the use/importance of the pedal in this piece? Thanks in advance
All of those names are correct! Burgmüller's full name was Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller, but you often find it shortened. So you might see Friedrich Burgmüller or Johann Burgmüller, but it's all the same person.
Incredible talent, but this could've standed to slow down a little or at least keep a rhythm. Didn't feel like it had much soul/emotion to me. Still amazing though.

Hello Dr. Huckleberry:

I admire your speed and accuracy on the notes! I am practicing arabesque. is burgmillers name joann franz or friendrich?
Joaan Fredrich Franz Burgmuller.
Incredible talent, but this could've standed to slow down a little or at least keep a rhythm. Didn't feel like it had much soul/emotion to me. Still amazing though.
