- This was my entry to the IL-2 Cliffs of Dover movie competition. I managed to achieve 3rd place! Thanks for all the likes!

The BF109 E-3's looked real.
So amazing.
Judging by the canopy most of them were E-4 versions.
E-3 and E-4 have the same canopies bro.
After the E-4 went into production, many E-3 versions in service got their new canopies as a field modification. Other than that they had different canopies and they are modeled like that in the game. Feel free to look it up.

However you're still wrong.
These are E3's.
The E4 had a more rounded canopy.
E3 still had the same canopy as the E1.

hellcatdave1 Okay, please take a look at the F(riedrich) and early G(ustav) versions, why would they feature the canopy of E-1 and E-3 versions when they changed the design for the E-4 model?
I'm very sure you have them confused with each other. As I stated, many E-3s were equipped with the new canopy as field modifications, so that explains your second example.
The first one I just assume an error by the uploader. Check other images of both versions.

Not bad... one of the best IL2 movies ive seen in a long time.
This is as cutting edge as you are going to get right now. It is far and above the most complex WW2 flight simulator in existence, with a level of detail that other games do not reach. Every cockpit is rendered in exquisite detail and every element in there is clickable and interactable. Over a year was spent creating each aircraft's cockpit. I would argue that CoD suffered from its own ambition, and was released unfinished. The TeamFusion patches are swiftly remedying that situation.
This is one I keep replaying...so real!...well done..Fantastic!!!
@Martr0x Thanks very much :) The reason its a bit long is because the movie competition required it to be at least 5-10 mins long. The first "half" shows the characters (hurricane,spits,he-111,109's) and then shows the hurricanes attack the bombers destroying some of them but the battle wasnt won since the bombers are still able to drop their bombs,

the last part of the video 6:40 looked like a hollywood scene, so dramatic and epic!
A beautiful video that shows the beauty of the world, and it has a haunting sadness to it, a sadness about how the war lays waste to it. It's rather quiet and atleast to me a bit sad, not in bad, but more in the feeling it portrays to me and that is good, it's good that it's not as loud. A fitting tribute to the battle of britain and all that fought there, as much as I love Combat Flight simulators, war is such a waste.
I have only one word to describe this film: EPIC!

Thanks! Im not entirely sure to be honest but as far as i know it was common practice for allied planes to strafe crashed aircraft that could have valuable info to the enemy both from an information stand point and a technical aspect.
REALLY GOOD MAN!!! only that the luftwaffe's targets and of others nations the targets were airfields and military buildings. But a really good film, can u make another 1 plz????

Thanks for the kind words. I did try to emphasize the beauty of the landscape and how they are fighting for it. I always find myself thinking about how much i love all these aircraft and things like that but then i realize it was all made to destroy human beings which is pretty messed up. Im glad we have sims tho because it gives people an idea and an appreciation of the people who fought for the countries we live in today.
Thanks, yep I use Fraps. From what i remember i used everything max except for buildings amount and trees amount which were either at high or medium. SSAO was also off.

Indeed, its actually from the IL2 game Wings of Prey. Really good soundtrack for that game, same composer who did the music for Skyrim.
I already watched it several times and noticed in your playlist, that you were the creator. I liked the carrierlanding the most because of the waterreflectioneffect.

Thanks! I recommend turning the trees to medium or high as well as the buildings. Turn off SSAO and you can leave most of the other things on high.

It is definitely pretty demanding but you can get away with something like a 660 gpu if you have a decent quad core cpu and that is not high end or expensive hardware by today standards.With the Team Fusion patches this sim is getting better and better and the online community is growing every day.Have a look at ACG which is home to 5 squadrons, 3 RAF and 2 Luftwaffe.We play historical missions every thursday with 60+ human players.
@FOX11GUY To answer your first question, the music is actually best suited for Killzone 3 since thats where its originally from lol. Secondly, what do you mean about WWI footage? The scene has a bunch of He-111's being hit with flak which were very common WW2 German bomber.

The AI used to be able to do barrel rolls faster than an f-16 and a few other bugs but that has mainly been fixed now.
One of the best Videos i've ever seen for Combatflight Sims. Great Job! It rivals to glowing AMRAAMs Trailermoviess for DCS Modules, very nice! U used Cameraangles, i didn't even knew CloD is capable of :)

To be honest the first place winner won because his movie was more historically accurate where as mine wasn't. Without pride i would say that my movie was the most aesthetically pleasing movie but for this type of sim i agree with the guy who won first place since it was more true to history. They have fixed quite a few bugs but there are still some bugs like the AI and performance issues that hinder me from playing. With the new DCS P-51D I don't know if i will go back!
Not a bullet, just a camera effect. These Bf-109's are E series, Only F Series and later had an autocannon mounted in the nose, and even then, an autocannon shell is something entirely different than a bullet(not to mention autocannons are about 10x more effective).

It depends on the scene and what colors are being displayed. Well within the sim itself there are alot of freedom with cameras, i dont edit any files i just use what i have within the game. Go into the controls and look at all the controls for cameras and views, you will be surprised! :)

@Martr0x the next part shows the spits loosing the battle and then comes a twist where they endure and defeat the 109's. I dont normally make vids this long for this type of movie and its not the best story telling since its difficult to have a story with no talking and ww2 planes being the main character but i hope it was at least aesthetically pleasing ;) If you havnt seen it yet you should check out my DCS: A-10C vid, its much shorter and has more structured cutting ;)

Thanks for kind words! It did take some time yes, considering when i was about 90 percent done it i accidentally saved over the file and had to do it all over again... stupid award of the year goes to.... haha
Right, but any specific color correction or just whatever worked for you? I am using Sony vegas 10 to edit, and AE for effects as of now. In DCS I heard there is a file you can edit to create extra camera angels. Its silly how you cant PAN when moving the camera around... just scroll mouse wheel and move it foreward or back, thats it.. shameful...

My only problem with this is that it shows a spit gun sight and then a 109 cockpit for the spitfire going down out of control at 5:52

I color correct my videos that I record from this game with sony vegas. I actually found this game much more difficult to achieve better camera angles than DCS. Cheers
Have you tried playing with the Team Fusion patch? It's a rela game-changer performance-wise. Flight models are fixed, sound effects are fixed... hell, even lighting and clouds are getting better with each new mod patch! Try it out!

You used some kind of camera filter on this right? i don't own this game or any of the IL games so I don't know how the movie recording goes for this, but am interested in the filter effect you used here for some of my DCS videos, since DCS does not really have that great many camera controls as this seems to have.

@LiablePilot haha well actually the nasa space program was actually canceled because all the funding went towards my new computer :P I do get alot of nice comments on my vids yes but thats why i make them! If you like it then i like it! I use Fraps to record the in-game video then i bring it into sony vegas and edit it and throw on some color correction. This vid took me about a week to complete (mainly because i accidentally deleted it making me have to do it all over again lol) Thanks again!
