Fuel Tanker Crash Lands Upside Down

  • Tractor Trailer Crashes Off Freeway Into Ditch - Seems I've been on a roll (pun intended) with these absolute crazy jobs this year. I had the pleasure of working this one side by side with S&R Tow, about a couple hours South of me. The company called us for help on this job, so I responded with Hulk, my 2020 50ton rotator, followed by Dave in his 40ton rotator. Oceanside is a couple hours away from us but we were told by the company and someone else on scene the "job was ours" so I had no worries with anyone else showing up.
Sure enough as we arrived, S&R Tow was on scene and they were called by CHP, so that trumps us. Instead of driving allll the way back to Los Angeles, I just asked them if they would let us work it with them and man am I glad (as you should be) that they said yes because this was one of our coolest jobs this year. We positioned our trucks to essentially do two rollovers simultaneously. This was only made possible after we were able to use our trucks to split the tankers from each other.
We had the benefit here of having the trailers emptied out before we touched them, which allowed us to bring both units up with our classic finesse. The Peterbilt was also in such great shape even after it rolled, that I had to re-think my rigging to make sure when it came over, nothing further was crushed or cracked from the straps. The normal lift and catch points would tear off the stacks, mirrors, fenders, etc, but by putting my strap under the cab and over the step, it made it like butter.
Hope you guys like this cool adventure, and shout out to S&R, hope to work with you guys again soon! What did you guys think of this one?

@@PepesTowingService it's definitely much different when your towtruck is stuffed on a 2 lane highway, and on frozen ground, the trucks slide and theyll use chains and most drivers dont give a shit if they damage the truck/car ect, because they dont want to laydown in 2-3ft of mud/water in -25-35 celcius

The only thing missing from this video is Dave directing the maneuvering the trailer in between the rotators move. Awesome video, 2024 calendar shot for sure!! In May 1981 as a member of Camp Pendleton Fire Dept. Engine 6, we responded to a reported gas tanker off the road south bound south of the rest stop. When we arrived on scene we found a set of empty milk tanker trailers in the same exact spot as this incident. Unfortunately we found the driver ejected from the cab of the tractor deceased. We had to wait all night for the Coroner to arrive to remove his remains. Then when the tow trucks started to pull the wreckage from the canyon the batteries sparked and caught the fuel tank that was torn open on fire. This was by far the longest accident scene time that I was ever involved in.

The photo you took of the tow trucks in action is worthy of a 2024 calendar photo

Certain tow companies love padding their videos with that lol I'm personally not a fan. I like immediately jumping into the action showing you guys what I got, what my plan is, then executing that plan.
