They save their smile for the moment they run past their owners. My old mother thinks I'm nuts for saying my lurchers smile but they really do especially when showing off to their owners

Shock collars are great tools if used correctly. Not everyone is aware that there is a correct way to use them. I re-homed Freddie and don't agree with having dogs on leads. I put the collar on Freddie as a precaution. I didn't know how he would act around people, bikes, runners and most importantly children. Luckily he was golden and now does his own thing without me having to worry :) Hope you are keeping well!

My female whippet caught a feasan once. She surprised and scared the bird who fly 200 meters away before to land on, the bird didn t realise my dog ran full speed behind, when he landed on, my dog was on him. The bird was like : "how the fuck can you be here??" Hopefully my dog didn t hurt the bird and I released it. Whippets are true ground to ground living missiles.

Hey man! Hope you're doing well :) My advice would be to train train train. Never use a retractible lead, socialise your whippet as much as possible with other dogs, look out for other dogs (my whippet has been attacked many times) Feed the dog what works for him/her and also what works for YOU. With whippets recall training is so important. Always have a pocket full of food with you to help with this. I could really go on forever. Most of all - be the boss, train every day and you will have yourself a whippet who is the best companion you could ever dream of. There is a great dog trainer on youtube you can check out. StonnieDennis Id advise you watch ALL his videos!

And I trained all of my 5 Doberman’s with whistle and chicken as a treat for there recall. And I even have a video on RUclips of my two Doberman’s running together instance recall as soon as they hear my whistle. It’s on my other channel. They're vibrating collars. Not a shock collar. They help deal with nuisance barking. They're harmless. I had to get one as my neighbours complained about my dogs barking. Tried training classes as training alone. They did not work. Whistles, pennies in a can still didn't work. I didn't want my dogs taken away.....so got a vibration collar and it works a treat. They do not "electrocute or hurt the dog"

@Freddie The Whippet That’s good to hear thanks for the reply. I would recommend watching kikopup on RUclips she’s a trainer that uses positive reinforcement training. I like clicker training but it’s extremely important to do it the right way kikopup does clicker training. Grab a cup of ☕️ when you got some time you might find it helpful for the future.

Those who think they are cruel are typically the dog owners who cant get their dogs back. They are the owners who have no control over their dog. Even when on a lead you see their dog pulling them down the road. A dogs life should be freedom. Freddie now walks off lead with me everywhere at only 1 year old. (I rehomed him at 7 months) no one can tell me that is cruel. Every day I see poor dogs on the beach ON LEAD who just want to play. I cant help but feel sorry for them. As mentioned earlier. The collar is at Freddie's interest only. It is there for me to correct bad behaviour, recall, to protect small dogs and children and most importantly Freddie's life if he spots a bird and darts for the road... I have full control of freddie now. I can rarely fault his behaviour at all. So for the sake of a couple of months of training with the collar. He now has years and years of freedom to follow.

He slow movement. My 8 month old is much faster movements (shes smaller in size ) 40mile an hours. She would run by jeep uphill most mornings. I have her for hacking with horses not racing so she is very fit. Shes on small breed hight protein/fat food. (32%protein. 21%fat) stunner little one.

@@elzaelza754 no, they're not. A shock collar sends a small jolt of electrical current to the dog, while an e collar vibrates or beeps. They have different functions and uses.
If you don’t think that shot collar off the dog is doing good he’s being a friend but you got a shot collar on you’re such a bad influence and you’re such a bad owner what did the dog do you take that shot
At this stage I had only had Freddie for a few weeks. As he was a rescue I had a vibrate collar on him which I could control. Not for recall. As you can see even after a few weeks his recall was very good. I had the collar on him more for other peoples safety incase he didn't like children, runners, cyclists etc. As I live in Bournemouth we get everything here. Birds, Surfers, Runners, Kite surfers, Boats, Children, Babies playing in the sand etc.
Now I know him much better he is collar free

I find that hard to belive . Belgian shepard quicker than a whippet are you sure if thats the case people would of used them for coursing rabbits !

He slow movement. My 8 month old is much faster movements (shes smaller in size ) 40mile an hours. She would run by jeep uphill most mornings. I have her for hacking with horses not racing so she is very fit. Shes on small breed hight protein/fat food. (32%protein. 21%fat) stunner little one.
