@@WONGA0now that you mention it, I decided to invent another Frutigar because I feel like there should be more. Feel free to read my essay. Frutigar Macabre: Based off of how the internet (especially in relation to RUclips or 4chan) had a scary or unsettling nature in it’s content from 2006-2009. This is going off the pattern where Frutigar Aero is about advertising from 2004-2013, and how frutigar metro is about graphic design from the 2000s. Frutigar Macabre is about the disturbing content on the internet from its time period. It’s style can stem from multiple different elements from video quality being noticeably bad, the fear of the unknown, old forums or social medias depicting unsettling content, and windows movie maker-style editing that attempts to be scary. This does not mean the aesthetic has to strictly root from disturbing stuff, it can also include innocent childhood characters or shows that have undergone scary undertones throughout the internet’s history such as My Little Pony or Max and Ruby. In general, Frutigar Metro is about combining nostalgia with creepiness and also comfort.
@@Asteriskwaschosen True, i remember the Xbox 360 having a beautiful UI with menu sound effects that were already nostalgic to me at the time. I got one in 2012 and it felt like a console from a near future. Unfortunately, i made the mistake of buying an Xbox One and the UI felt kinda blank, there was no charm to it. It even happened to Nintendo consoles, for instance the WiiU and 3DS both had nostalgic UI and music, especially when it comes to basic stuff like the digital shop, it truly felt like mall music in a cartoon or anime. But since Satoru Iwata passed away, Nintendo lost their magic, and the Switch UI had blank menus, blank eshop, blank sound effects etc. The Steam Deck understood the assignment when it comes to the sound effects, they feel like they came straight out of the 2000 but felt very futuristic at the same time
I swear I was a kid in 2008 watching CGI cartoons of little creatures in funky towns and I always wished I could live with them. Goat Simulator the game always gave me the same feelings in 2013
Why does this resonate with me so much? Is it the vibrant colors? The fact that it’s reminiscent of many different bumpers? The simple appearance of DeBlob? That one brown creature in those games?
