Johnny I live near Houston Tx. I had my water heater replaced a year ago and I paid $2700. They had two trucks and four men to do it. They did a great job. It was in Avery tight space. Where I live you have to get a permit. It has to sit on a concrete blocks and replace the vent all the way and the one on the roof. You can definitely get more money for your jobs.
My pricing is close to yours. I also plan to rethink what I charge. I need to markup materials more also. Miky Pipes has a point when it comes to that. I have been plumbing for 48 years. I still work 5 to 6 hours a day. Plumbers here on the Cape get between 175.00 225.00 an hour. I do have a contractor that I have worked for for over 35 years in a 151 unit condo community. He puts out some really nice work and feel I do the same. These are one to two million dollar condos. There are many new codes coming this year that will change the way jobs will be done. A ground strap on the hot side doesn't do anything if copper isn't all the way to the heater!! Better go back and fix it...properly...on the cold side!
Also he could leave the ground strapped to the hot side like it is because there's so much ground cable he could just get a clamp and just bring it right up to the cold side and clamp it and leave it both hot and cold.

My company charges $135 for the first hour $100 every other hour. Parts we get from the supply house are marked up 30% and we charge $2 per mile for trips outside of town.

A total hack water heater almost straightened out excet for the most importent, conection the ground. But thats the way I found it lol
