@@HClightdude haha I don't know if I'd put it past him Brandon you may say no now but Ron could definitely be riding on a reel mower in the near future
Great Review Ron. That C27 seems an absolute beast and just has it all. For your needs and size of property this level of mower , particularly with battery mowers is pretty much the required level (especially with run time). As a long time Allett owner (older Kensington) it is great to see you with one , especially such a great model. Factoring in gas prices , less maintenance and the way things are moving towards anyway , a quality battery mower in the arsenal is advisable at this point. To be comparable or exceed gas versions seems you have to go to the commercial level and spend quite a bit. I could maybe get by with one of their Stirling models but would probably have to break up the mows for recharges (given my combined sq ft) , which is not ideal. I hope to get funds aside to be able to buy something around the C27 type level eventually.
Ron, I'd like to take the leap into reel mowing / verticutting for my lawn; will have to work up these Allett line of reel mowers, lol What would you suggest for a beginner like myself just starting out, as far as a brand of battery powered or electric reel mower with a verticut cartridge for a 9000 square foot lawn?
The C27 is a great machine. Just quite expensive once you factor in the batteries, chargers, and cost of the cartridges. For most residential lawns, the Stirling is a better choice: ruclips.net/video/G-JwKclF558/видео.html
Hey I’ve been working on my ‘green’ and I think I have small wire grass that lays down short but could stand up and be taller. If I planted Bermuda grass seed would it take over the wire grass?
Nah. I would remove the existing grass before introducing Bermuda. Even if it were to take over, you're talking several years for that to happen. You likely won't like how the lawn looks during the transition period. Hope this helps.
Greetings from Scotland. Congratulations on winning the Allett special Jubilee mower. What makes you buy a British mower rather than one made in the USA?. Finally are you a professional greenkeeper/lawn care Co or just the average lawn nut like the rest of us. It's some size of lawn you have. I would like to buy a verticutter for my Allett but I can't justify the cost of one in the UK. 👍
Thanks Ray. I’m the average lawn care like everyone else. To my knowledge, there aren’t any US manufacturers of an interchangeable cartridge system mower like what Allett has. That’s my main reason for choosing it. Appreciate you watching. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Thanks Ron. That mower is £10000 here in the UK. That does not include any cartridges and that includes the cutting cylinder. So with just the cutting cylinder it would push the price way up. You guys are lucky in the States, you have access to a lot more products than we have in the UK. We can't even buy fungicides or pesticides. You have to get a Pro with a license to use these products. I enjoy your videos but they do make me jealous.😂 👍
Because it's a lot of work to maintain Chesley. Mowing your lawn short requires that you be out there at least twice per week which is more than most people want to do.
Thanks for the review my only concern with these Alletts is can you sharpen your reel blades by yourself? Seems like more $ spent, if you have to take the reel to a specialist to sharpened, not to mention the missed time cutting.
@@RonHenry I just found a greensmaster 1000 with a verticutter attachment, do you recommend having one that’s combined like that or keep looking? Thanks for the advice it’s a big help!

Probably power requirements based on the motors being used in the unit. The Greenworks batteries are 82V and are commercial build quality which was also a plus for them.
I wish these reel manufacturers would put more time into build design for traction on hills. I got rid of my toro GM1000 bc it couldn’t handle the slope in my front yard. I didn’t “enjoy the mow” - frankly it was murder to mow. If you can only mow a flat lawn easily and every pass is a pain then I won’t purchase the mower. Cool system overall but as a homeowner with a slopped front yard this option is already a no-go
The interchangeable cartridges are a huge plus to the Allett system. You are able to handle mowing, verticutting and dethatching all in the same machine. What is your HOC?
only downside to this is the price 16.5k is so much. I like the bigger size compared to the stirling (since i have a little over half an acre to mow) but the stirling is 4.5k and this is 16k and the main difference is that it is 7 inches wider in cut that seems like a drastic price increase for 7 inches. And those prices dont include the batteries so you are paying even more for those.
Having used both, it’s a lot more than just the 7 inch increase in cut. The construction, rubberized steel rear drum, controls, and more put the C27 in a different class than the Stirling.
@@RonHenry thats good to know. I know these are aimed at more professional uses, just wish it was closer to 10k for this size for us larger lawn folks haha.
