Great question. My research led to this discovery: The early 2006 $5's were only printed for 6 months before the BEP introduced the new design with a pink hue and removed the oval border around Lincoln's portrait. The early 2006 $5's were only issued for 3 districts, Atlanta, Chicago, and Minneapolis. No star notes were issued. The signatures of Cabral and Paulson appear on both series 2006 (old and new) notes. Both printed at the Western facility (Fort Worth, Texas). However, the older notes serial number begins with H. And the newer notes serial numbers begin with I. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel also placing me in a situation where I was able to learn more about numismatics. This is so weird! I took a load of scrap metal to the recycler this morning, $430.00 worth. I scanned my weight ticket and the machine spits out 8, $50's a 20 & a 10. Lo and behold one of the fifty's is a 1996!!!! It's in pretty good condition too. Someone wrote on the front with a blue ball point pen but otherwise a keeper. I guess now all I'm missing is the 5 & 10.
