50+ years ago we were using tractors, with 18.4X34 tires we would cut the rims apart in the middle but offset then take the 2 wide pieces & weld them together, the narrow pieces we would put a piece of flat that was rolled & wide enough so that both rims were the same width. We did that so that the tires would have more of the klete to the ground. It might have helped a little
Looks like both of those rims are salvageable. I have a kubota that had a 3in hole around the valve stem. Been holding fine for 2yrs now..after I fixed it.
I did a rim on a WD45 43 years ago by welding in steel after cutting the cancer out. Then I coated it with three coats of Pettit Rustlok Steel Primer. Still together yet and no more rust. Last time it had a tire changed the rustlok looked like the day I sprayed it.
F un repairs have done more tractor rims than i care to remember . I usually grab some eighth inch strap and just hand form the piece i need for the rim .
Hi Why didnt you just cut out a patch from the donor piece and square cut the rusty one with the hole. I think your way ruined the structural integrity of the rim?

You really should teach others how to weld and share your knowledge. You are very talented young man. Thanks for the videos.
He did and was very good at it...the. the videos went sideways. This is his new channel.
I did a similar repair on on of my tires and followed it up with primer and fiberglass resin to smooth the whole rim out for the inner tube.
My father taught me this art years ago. Built several re furbished many rims .

I sooooo miss the old tractor videos
Why not patch over the old hole and drill a new one in a solid section?
If there is enough good metal you can but it looked like more rust than metal which would pop and burn and blow a bigger hole lol!
Looks like a scam!!!!
😂

As long as he fit up the bead with the rim bead it will be fine.AL B.
