Hi Jane, it depends. Currently, only weak density stones are able to be broken up by herbal or pharmaceutical approaches. Weak density stones are calcium oxalate dihydrate, uric acid, and some of the calcium phosphate family of stones. If you're uncertain of your stone type, you may have received a stone density report from a CT scan. Density figures are shown in Hounsfield Units or HU (Ex: 750HU). Typically anything under 750HU can be broken down by an herbal/pharmaceutical approach. Any idea what type of stone you have?
Hi Christine, thanks for the question. Yes, CLEANSE can break down calcium oxalate dihydrate stones, which is one of the two subtypes of calcium oxalate stones. The most common type of calcium oxalate stone, monohydrate, is not able to be broken down by much of anything, including shockwave lithotripsy procedures (typically takes 2-3 procedures for success to occur). Breaking down stones with herbs is more about the density of the stone, represented in Hounsfield Units, not necessarily the stone composition or crystal structure, while this can play a role in density in some cases. The general rule of thumb is that stones less than 750 HU can be broken down with an herbal strategy and anything above this will require surgical intervention if they are larger than 10mm in length (6-8mm in diameter). Stones smaller than this have the ability to pass through the urine. Yes, you're right. The pain from kidney stones can be caused by a combination of factors. The blockage and backup of urine can lead to pressure buildup in the kidney and ureter, causing pain. Additionally, as the body tries to pass the stone, the muscles in the ureter can contract forcefully, which can be very painful. This combination of factors contributes to the intense pain experienced with kidney stones.

Does Cleanse breakdown an 8mm calcium oxalate stone? From research, I was led to believe that herbs only breakdown uric acid stones. Thank you.

Besides the kidney blockage urine backup causing pain does not the bodies action squeezing the urine tube to force the stone out cause excessive pain?
