Hi Skall, I just want to let you know you have inspired me to join a local HEMA club. Thank you , I’ve always been intrigued by history and historical combat. Your channel is a wealth of information.
My father is a blacksmith and I’m currently getting into it, too. So far my father has made about 50 swords, 23 of them being in our house. I’m very proud to be his son and follow in his footsteps.
Thanks for the video as always! Your answer to the question at the end is spot on. I've had multiple collections of various items in my life which I was very fond of. The first was a firearm collection. There were some very rare pieces I would have said at one point in my life, I will never sell. Things change when someone you love gets very sick and you need cash. I wish I still had many of these and while I may think of them from time to time, I will never regret doing what I had to. Our bellies are a little bigger and our hair a little grayer, but she is still with me, so I made the right call.
I have to object to assigning the 7.62x39mm cartridge the blanket description of, "armor piercing rifle ammunition." I concede that if the specific ammunition used had steel cores, like those found in Norinco yellow box, it could be considered armor piercing. However, most of the 7.62x39 available in the market today is going to be 122 grain lead core FMJ which is assuredly not armor piercing. Other than that I enjoyed the video; You have a very nice collection!

The falchion made by that works is definitely the most valuable piece in your whole collection. It is probably worth almost as much as the rest of your permanent collection combined.
I believe you have made great choices in the collection you have plans on keeping. The choices of which is superior will take more study and certainly give you a vast amount of subject matter. That should last a long time in the coming future for your channel.
9:30 I will tell you the truth. I expected a heron mark on this one. This looks like the sword I thought that swordmaster in Wheel of Time would use, from the description in the book.
Very much enjoy you showcasing your collection! Your time to show what you lobe out and it's entertaining/ relaxing to watch! More show and tells needed !!

The body of the Swedish axe is wrought iron, its also folded by traditional means. 3 pieces coming together as one axe.
Get a practice basket hilt broadsword from castille/armour class. You would fall in love with it trust me. The level of hand protection combined with its sheer weight just make it so fun to spar with. A tank that could just blocks everything dead in the air, and a return so fearsome that would often blow up parries from lighter swords.

Personally, I have a number of large knives and small machetes, plus some smaller knives, and hatchets. Some, like this one Machete/Billhook/Saw thing I got - a Mossy Oak tool that seems to be built for camping - look a lot like Fantasy weapons - aforementioned tool looks a lot like an orc sword from Lord of the Rings. Then there's the Minimalist - a Bowie-style boot/neck knife barely 5 inches long from point to end. Very sharp - I use it to free the other knives from their packages.
Just looking at that collection with a bit of weapon envy. I can't afford that stuff IRL but I have a huge collection in Skyrim. Guy named Billyro makes some stunningly well replicated weapons.
The axe @24:08 is almost the shape I’m wanting to find to make an actual usable Axe/ walking cane. I want to make it for wood carving and able to cut limbs and other pieces out to carve using the axe itself as well as a carving knife. I have another design that actually Carrie’s woodcarving knife blades in a hollow shaft, I just have to figure out a way to carry the handle portion. With always having one hand occupied it would be nice if the cane had other uses. Maybe one day I’ll get it made or modify an existing axe head…
I watched Skallagrim in 2016 onwards. I have dreamed of the Knect and since it's not available but looks like it, on their site, I feel bad and very much regret not getting one. I mean a lot of money, but the price would have been paid long ago and I'd still have it!!!! That's how it works!
It must've been a difficult choice between that Scottish basketed broadsword and the German town guard one I've handled both kinds a few times and prefer the swept hilt over the fully encased one, it obstructs my grip a little too much
The thing about weapon collections... It is NEVER enough. But even more fun is actually making your own blades, you control everything from start to finish and if you don't like the end product, it's all on you. Then you sell the failure and do it again :3
I still have a copy of the catalog (#86, from between 2002 and 2005) that your “sci-fi katana/longsword” was advertised in- it apparently is from Windlass’s “Galactic Crusades” line. The one you have is called the “Out World Katana”, and there’s a matching short sword, which for some reason is double edged. They also made an “Out World” gladius and a polearm, which all (mostly) match. I don’t have the earlier catalog that also advertised the costumes from that line, but from what I remember, you’re not really missing anything by not seeing them. In this same catalog, Windlass also advertised their “Wheel Of Time” sword replica- I never saw the show/read the book, so I don’t know if it’s an accurate depiction of it. They were heavy into movie replicas and costumes- this particular one has the most LOTR stuff of that ilk that I’ve ever seen, and catalogs from this era also featured Kingdom Of Heaven, Forgotten Realms, Endless Realms, Star Wars, Marvel characters, 300, Warhammer, Harry Potter, and many more. Ah, the good old days. The only bad thing was that back then, I couldn’t afford any of the swords out of there- I wish they’d re-release a lot of those discontinued designs, as some were incredible. Thanks for the great video!
I was really impressed by that 4th one of Chinese design. I was going to suggest a khopesh be added but that zombie cleaver looks like it will do the job just fine. Lol.

I really like the look of the straight double-edged Chinese swords. Its very elegant. Im also glad that Matt Easton seems to like them too since he has been reviewing quite a few of them. I must say that if i could only buy one Asian / far Eastern sword, i would go for a Chinese two-hander over a katana or any other Japanese sword. Edit: I also like how they whistle when you swing them right.
These are amazing weapons too! I like the hook sword and double edged butterfly blade the most! That recurved blad and ringless 9 ring broad sword looks good too! My collection is not as big,and there will not be many swords, but there IS a sai and a chain and a baseball bat and a few staffs.😅
Honestly hadn't noticed the beaver logo until you pointed it out 😹 hadn't seen that longsword katana hybrid before! That's awesome. My biggest fantasy desire is a very similar one, a two handed viking sword with minimal guard. I don't know why, the aesthetic just appeals to me

Essentially a lever action spear thrower..
Idk just a thought..
Real question is, if it's apocalypse which weapon out of your collection is your edc?
"Is This its Final Form?"
We both know that a collection being "finished" is always "that one last sword" away.
LOL, you'll never ever have enough medieval weapons, it's a law, like the law of Gravity. What you have already is not quite enough.
Similar to motorcycles, the formula for the ideal number of weapons to own is x + 1, where x represents the number of weapons you currently own.
See.. that was my thought... But I guess where you live at has to determine your mind set...
Eventually he will get his house... And it may be different then
For me the ideal would be one for every type of weapon, you still can overspecify the categorization to have as many weapons as you like
@@dereksendall6488 Heh, that's me, but with Gunpla: you can never have too many, you know?
For western riders it's pads... can never have too many pads..
That "Skalchion" is probably the coolest sword I have ever seen. Excuse me, I'm going to go and get my own Reaver Cleaver, now ⚔
To each his own, but I more like Brisingr, also made by Ilya and Matt, though I am even more fond of "barbaric luxury".
