  • I bought this 6'0" foamy off marketplace a while back and I decided to try my hand at shaping a "new" surfboard from it. This is an experiment to say the least. This is my first time shaping a surfboard. I didn't add too much footage of the shaping process. I just wanted to show that it can be done. I am planning to post the glassing of the surfboard in the near future. Glassing supplies are super expensive!
Hopefully my next board will be from an actual blank without a plastic pvc type stringer.

Hi, What material have you used to fill the holes? Qcell?

Hey, I used a putty like filler that’s used for sealing eps boards. I don’t recommend doing that! I would just use scrap foam and gorilla glue (white) for the best results. Otherwise resin and q-cell would work, but that’d would make it harder to shape (and harder to cut in fins boxes) and add more weight! Hope this is helpful!

I've been shaping since 1973. The one bit of advice I would give you is that when you are shaping rails/bottom/deck, always do every cut in contemplation of the entire shape you want to finish with. I.e. Don't shape the board in sections.

I’ve been learning that makes the process a lot easier! This first board I free handed most of everything - essentially had no idea what I was doing. I still have A LOT to learn, and that is definitely very good advice. Thank you 🙏🏽
