@@TheDadWhoPlays Minecraft is such an old and well known game that it expects you to know a lot of things that it never directly tells you. It's like how fps games don't tell you how to aim and shoot, they just expect the player to already know. The only real rules to video games is to have fun and to not ruin other people's fun!

Now you know the absolute sheer terror of Minecraft - first night. You are not a true Minecrafter until you dug a hole at night, jumped in, sealed it up behind you and waited 10 mins until you heard zombies and skeletons burning in the sunlight. The sounds of jangling skeles, moaning zombies, crawling spiders and hissing creepers walking around above you is terrifying. The laugh you heard was a Witch they throw poison bottles at you, and the gurgles are The Drowned, basically underwater zombies that swim fast and some throw tridents. One of the great things about Bedrock (Windows 10 version) is that you do not need to know the configuration of the recipes. You can just pull the item right from your recipe book into your inventory if you have enough materials for it. It is like Insta-crafting. Been fun watching you play blind, definitely coming back for more!

    • @TheySuckFatLongDonkeyLogs
      @TheySuckFatLongDonkeyLogs 5 месяцев назад +1

Your sentence about crafting recipes is NOT just Bedrock edition, it is also true in Java edition, so it is not one of the great things about Bedrock as there is no difference there.
While bedrock Redstone has many issues, and generally sucks, one thing Bedrock has that Java doesn't is the ability to place blocks in dead space beyond the blocks you are standing on in front of you, but in the same level, although some have complained that it is not always intuitive or reliable, in Java you need to point at the face that you want to place the block, it is an ability that Java doesn't have.

36:33 Because this version of Minecraft has a feature where another player can join at any time for Local Co-op, the world is always considered to be multiplayer, which means that bringing up the "pause" menu doesn't _actually_ pause it.

They used to offer a tutorial map and I later learned that there were different versions of it. The one I had, you start off in a small garden that you can't escape until you learn the basic stuff that they teach you with screen help.
But there was something really neat about that garden and then leaving it and going to the outer world and learning more complicated stuff that they set up on the outside.
But that aside, there was something serene about the garden. I know that kids and adults both have emotional connections to this game. As a parent, that map reminded me of a particular time in my kids life. You can keep opening new maps and doing new things and revisiting stuff you did as a group but there's something unique about that tutorial. It's just peaceful.
I wish they would bring that back or make it available on the consoles. It's a trip down memory lane that's not available anymore.

    • @TheDadWhoPlays

@@TheDadWhoPlays kind of an update on tutorials for the Xbox one. You can of course buy a disc version from earlier and it'll have a version of a tutorial map but it's a lot more open like the Xbox 360 version.
However, if you ever downloaded the demo for Minecraft on Xbox or purchased an earlier version of the Xbox One edition then those should still be available in your history of games.
I found the Xbox One edition of the game which somehow still works and it's separate and it's a version of the game on Xbox from 2016.
Anyway if you have that by chance then you would be able to access that older tutorial which by itself is a really cool map with a lot of really unique buildings on it.
I can see you progressed really far and you don't need the tutorial anymore for sure but it's still fun to do even after you get familiar.
But a word of warring is that technically there are like 10 or so tutorial maps apparently. Lol
I think people use in a PC can access older versions of the game more readily or at least download them.

It is interesting that the Minecraft world is quite logical and similar to the usual one. How would you chop down a tree and how would you mine stone in the usual world? That's right, with an axe and a pickaxe. You can't get ore with a shovel... Which means you need to somehow create tools. And you ask yourself how to create them? And then you see an item called a crafting table - and it is immediately clear that this is the first thing you need to do. You try to get something with your bare hands - and yeah, wood is the easiest, which means you will make the first tools from wood of course... And so on, step by step.

Go into your game settings and turn on 'show coordinates'. Take note of where you set up camp/base, so you can always find your way back.
Once you have a bed and sleep in it, it will act as your respawn, however if it is broken, or exploded, your spawn point will reset to world spawn where you started your world at.
Coords also help if you decide to go exploring and take your bed with you to skip the nights you can find your way home.

The first order of the day is to find some kind of shelter. Make a wooden pickaxe then mine 3 stone, before making a stone pickaxe. The easiest way to make a shelter is to build into a cliff side. Make enough space inside to situate a crafting table and a bed. A bed is made with 3 wooden planks and 3 wool. Wool comes from sheep, (surprisingly enough.) Once you sleep during the night-time it also sets your spawn point to the bed, so in the event of dying you go back to your base. The next thing is to sort out the food side of things. Collect wheat seeds from hitting grass and then make a hoe and use it on dirt blocks 5 blocks or less from a water source, then plant the seeds that will grow into wheat, which can be made into bread. Making a furnace from cobblestone, (which is mined from stone), will allow you to not only cook meat from slain animals but also for smelting ores. Iron being the one you're mostly interested in, as you can make stronger, longer-lasting tools with it, as well as armour.

I’m sure you know by now, but here’s some tips:
    1) For the first day or so, don’t go far from the spawn location, so if you die, all your stuff is right there. (Until you can craft a bed to create a new respawn location)
    2) Use the first day to collect everything you can see around you and build a basic hideout (dirt or wood). Block yourself in and craft tools that first night. (Unless you know what to craft immediately to make life easier.)
    3) Punching trees should be a top priority. You need wood to make your first tools.
    4) Each tool has its own uses, allows certain materials to be collected, and speeds collection for its own type:
    Sword - Obvious
    Wooden Pickaxe - Stone/Coal/Copper
    (Including Variants Like Granite)
Stone Pickaxe - Iron/Gold/All Prior Mats
Iron Pickaxe - Diamond/All Prior Materials
    Axe - Wood (All types)
    Shovel - Dirt/Sand/Gravel
Hoe - Turn Dirt into Farmland
Beyond this very basic start, ask your kids what to do. And remember, Minecraft is a sandbox game. You do what you want, and there aren’t many forced paths to take.

@@Wyrnikh if you move the bed do you always spawn where you place it? I started over twice because I got too far away from the "house" that I built and couldn't find enough sheep (or ANY sheep once) to make the bed.

    • @Wyrnikh
      @Wyrnikh 6 месяцев назад +1

@@amymalone3995 Not if you break the bed. Just PLACING the bed isn't enough, you have to sleep in it (or TRY to sleep in it).
Basic respawn mechanics are as follows for unmodified (vanilla) games:
      1) The last bed that you have slept in (or tried to sleep in) as long as it has not been broken afterwards.
      2) If there is no bed, if the last bed you slept in is broken, or if the last bed you slept in has become blocked somehow (rare situation), then you respawn at "world spawn" (where you started the game).
This means you can carry a bed with you wherever you go, but ONLY the last bed you slept in (or tried to sleep in) is considered "your" bed for respawning purposes, so unless you place it AND try to sleep in it, you return to world spawn.
(Servers and Modified Minecraft rules may be different.)
It also means that if you build at world spawn (or very near it), you can always (with a few exceptions in later game) get home if you're lost. This becomes particularly useful once you have an Ender Chest (a special type of chest that shares what's inside it with every other ender chest you use), as you can go exploring with a bed and one ender chest, and when your inventory is full you then put everything you collected in the ender chest (be sure to include armor and tools), sleep in the bed, break it, then kill yourself and go home. You only lose your experience and one ender chest.
If you have any other questions (any Minecraft topic), I'll try my best to answer. I'm not an expert, but I can usually figure out an appropriate answer.

@@Wyrnikh ohhhhhh!!!! Thank you! Thats a lot of info. When I first started I kept dying and losing all my stuff. I built my first house where I spawned in which was fine but I didn't have any sheep. Lol then I got lost. On my 2nd try I got lost again but found a village. One of the houses in the village had a bed, and I tried dying to respawn at my starting point but it put me back at the village. Lol a lot of it has been confusing, a lot of using Google, I've found some tools that I'm not sure what to do with (a stone cutter for example). I probably have a billion blocks of dirt and cobblestone that I assume I don't need? Lol I may go back to easy mode now that I can craft some weapons but trying to even find iron was rough at the beginning. My niece is 16 and I think mods the game. I'm not ready for that yet, especially not being a gamer. I used to mod the original Sims but that was back in the 90s. Lol

    • @Wyrnikh
      @Wyrnikh 6 месяцев назад +2

@@amymalone3995 No Problem. Depending on the amount of modding done, you could always ask your niece to install an unmodded vanilla version for you to learn in. If it's not heavily modded, just go with what you have, as there are some good quality of life things that usually get added by modders first.
And here's some help with the other blocks/tools you mentioned:
I'd keep about a single chest worth of dirt before you start throwing it away. Dirt is a cheap, easily broken scaffolding block that's great to have a handy supply of. And it's a real pain if/when you need it and it isn't available.
Cobblestone is used in some crafting recipes, but runs about the same as dirt once you have a chest or two of it. It can, howerver, also be put in a furnace to make regular "stone" which is required for certain other crafting recipes. I'd keep a single or double chest before tossing (at least to start). Later, you will be able to create a cobblestone "generator" with lava and water.
Assuming you're using a fairly recent version of the game, look for Iron high up in the mountains or down underground at Y 15. (If you don't know about the coordinates system yet, let me know.)
Workstations like the stone cutter have 2 uses:
      1) YOU can use them to perform various crafting at better rates than at the crafting bench, but each one only deals with specific materials. Some crafting can ONLY be performed at a specific workstation, such as the Brewing Stand. You can use the stone-cutter, for example, to turn cobblestone into cobble slabs, cobble walls, or cobble stairs more efficiently, and without having to remember the shape required in the crafting bench. If you use the Stone Cutter on "regular" stone (not cobble), you can make both the "regular stone" versions, but also "Stone Brick" versions as well, skipping the step of crafting stone into stone bricks.
      2) VILLAGERS can use them to take on a specific job. You can then trade items with that villager to obtain items that would otherwise be much more difficult to get. The lectern is the most overpowered of these, as the Librarian Villager offers trades for magical books. (This is a topic all on its own.)

Lol I've planted some pumpkin and wheat so far. One of the first games I started and deleted had a treasure chest underwater too. But since I kept getting lost before I've been trying to do things either closer to my spawn area or using torches as a path to get back. Lol

lol I always see these things late after they are posted. But I do enjoy watching people trying for the first time. You need to dig a hole first for shelter, before it gets dark. You can just dig in the grass, and hide until daylight. You need to use the right tools. Mining needs a pickaxe. Regular axe for trees is best. You need coal to cook, and make torches. So get a pickaxe first thing, mine all you can, hide out until daytime. Also, you need to eat food, to not die. Get some meat, and cook that, on campfire, or build a furnace. Need stone for that, again, mine stone with pickaxe. Get the basics first, just so you can continue to survive. We always make an underground base, light it all up so baddies cannot spawn there, and get us. Make chests for storage. Stock up on supplies, and then go from there. Minecraft survival is just that, mining, and surviving. It's doing everything from scratch. Shelter, food, light, weapons, tools. Finding a village can be really helpful also. I always build up a village, and use that for my homebase also. Trade with them, get more supplies. Light everything up, and put a fence around it so monsters cannot get in. Get cats to keep the phantoms, and creepers away. Dogs can attack anyone who attacks you for some added protection. I always add iron golems also, as they attack hostile mobs for you. Get a dog by taming a wolf. There is a lot to learn on this game for sure!

#1) Axe & Pick axe are most important! You can't collect stone or Ore without a Pickaxe. A tree axe won't work on stone, neither will a shovel. You need a pickaxe. Its actually the most important tool in my opinion. Its the first thing I craft. And an axe to speed collecting trees.
And a carve a quick 3x3 whole in a cliff wall and craft a door, A crafting table, grab as much wood as I can. With that stone I make a furnace so I can burn some of my wood to make charcoal if I don't immediately find coal. You can build a shelter out of dirt if you need to, but sticks and charcoal gift you torches, and torches give you light which helps keep the nasties away.

I don't know why I have been getting new minecraters when I have been playing for over 10 years now. And I am glad to see it. Armadillos are new in 1.21. Things open up after crafting the crafting table. At least you are learning that's a good thing.

We all died 20x in a row the 1st time we played. I truly love watching anyone experience a game that I adore for their 1st time. Keep up the good work and excited to watch more of your content!

I want to be so frustrated because I know exactly what you need to do but, I love watching you learn. It’s cool to see someone learn from nothing and just figure it out!

Once you figure out the crafting and what is required to collect certain items its quite addicting.
Punch wood to get logs make wood tool
Wooden pickaxe gets cobblestone from stone
Collect 3 wools from sheep (kill) and 3 wood boards for a bed to skip the nighttime. The monster wont spawn during the daylight only at night.
