- Grian plays roblox for the first (and last) time. I spent the whole time confused and I won't be playing again
Thank you to @SolidarityGaming and @SmallishBeans for trying to figure out what a roblox is with me. Still none the wiser.
This is a bonus video that used an editor for the first time (which is why the style is a little different!) so I had more prepared for my trip away!
Should I try other games?

Let's stick to Minecraft, ey? Reminder that this was a one-off video to help me prepare for my 3 week trip away (which is why an editor is helpful with that)! I definitely won't be playing this game again but it was fun to try some other stuff.

something however that is lovely is the custom subtitles, makes it very easy to see who is speaking.

There's definitely more games to play in Roblox and I think its similarity to Minecraft is the longer you play the more fun it gets. There's challenge, competition, story, survival, adventure, simulator and other types of games with their own themes. I don't usually prefer simulator games (like Eating Simulator and etc.) because it's too simple and effortless, you just click, sell, upgrade and rebirth.
Most of it is for kids ten and younger though

The unfortunate thing about roblox is that there are so many really good games, but all of the front page games that you first see when you first start playing are all just bad, and you actually have to search for the ones that are fun to play

I haven’t played Roblox in years, but I remember my two favorite games were a raft building game where you built a raft and tried to see how far you could get down a river. And then I really enjoyed surviving natural disasters game.

Joel and Grian playing was everything for me, I tried playing Roblox with my nieces and had NO IDEA what the point was to any of it, and couldn't believe people use actual money to play LOL .
the thing about roblox is there are some actually really good and well made games on it but they all get overshadowed by stuff like eating simulator or RPs

Yeah i find niche games more enjoyable, you have a sense of community if you decide to engage with it, and the games are usually much more unique and fun instead of a cashgrab

the editor is so chaoticly funny and I could understand some people getting unsettled but the whole fast-pacedness is comedy in it of itself
its definitely nice for random videos like these because it feels so unreal compared to the Minecraft content (not saying that I would prefer this style ALL the time)
I love this alternative style of video, because for better or for worse a lot of your viewers watch for Hermit craft. But having some alternative videos like this can give something to watch outside of your basic Minecraft video. I also believe it's a good thing to diversify by this, as I imagine doing constant Minecraft is fairly draining.

at this point Roblox literally is it's own culture, one full of microtransactions, copycat games and some of the most ducked up people I have had the misfortune of encountering.

I would watch Grian play Natural Disaster Survival as he'll probably die in every round, even if it's the easier disaster like sandstorm or deadly virus.

This was really silly, and it seems like the editor had a LOT of fun on this. It’s not something I’d watch often but a rare video here and there is worth a wee giggle. It seems to work really well with these sort of collab videos with others around.

i'm so in love with the way this video is edited, it perfectly encapsulates what goes on in grian's mind- we need more of this!!!
The game I played when I was a little kid on our family computer in the living room (for reference, I turn 21 this year) was "Work at a Pizza Place" and to date when I open roblox Maybe twice a year it's the only game I play. It's fun and well made and fairly simple (actually got easier over the years) and is functionally just. a nice, calm thing to do when you've got nothing else. I think it first came out on roblox in like, 2009 or something? And it still gets updated, which is legitimately insane to me. (A lot of my old favorite games are long since broken, just from game updates and mechanics changes or whatever. I'm glad this one still works.)
I'm also turning 21 this year lol, maybe I should also check back in and see how things have changed with my favourite old games

Oi Shrek in the Backrooms is a MASTERPIECE in gaming. What other game forces you to run away from Donkey ominously whispering "I want wåfflês" I ask you? The makings of nightmares that is.
Roblox tends to have some good games, and a lot of bad games. The hard part is sifting through all the bad ones to find the genuinely well-designed ones, since most games try to appeal to kids and make them spend as much money on in-game items as possible.
In fact, Roblox as a company is a bit uh... predatory in regards to children's safety, so a lot of the games reflect that, but when you do find a well-made game created by talented people it's awesome.
A bunch of games I see are very childish and seem like some 5 year old made them. Games like Doors on the other hand, seem like they’re made by really really good developers, which they are. Kudos to LSPLASH (the creators of doors).

If you ever decide to do this again, one of the only actually fun games is Natural Disaster Survival. Doesn't require a time commitment play and have fun, is easy, well made, and fun. Its simple but different than most games on there, someone put a lot of time into it and it is polished. Basically you attempt to survive a natural disaster, randomly generated, on a randomly generated island. The prison map is cool, as is the tall towers.
what i recommend: black hawk rescue mission 5, dead ahead, plane crazy, and some more underrated games. some of those games I mention focused on mechanics than focused on children.

Natural Disaster Survival is a classic, and it’s very fun. I suggest playing Become Fumo or Make a Cake, or even Be Crushed by a Speeding Wall. I’ll give lessons on how to play Doors, because I am a pro. Maybe even one of my games like Num Noms Land hehe.
