CPE Bach Cantabile From Piano Sonata in B Minor H.245 "Reimagined" is a reimagination of this piece for solo piano by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, the son of J.S. Bach. The cantabile movement has a haunting melody in B minor that descends and after a repeat, moves to G major and uses chromaticism on its first and second appearance, after which the first theme reappears in forte, and moves onto another theme in G major before a theme in forte which is made of a series of harmonic progressions from A minor, G major, C major and F major before returning to the first theme in B minor. Later a floating melody appears full of chromaticism, on a base of A sharp, before a reappearance once more of the B minor and G major themes. This piece is so representative of the slow movements of the Baroque era that has a structure and emotional content. In this reimagination I have taken these harmonies to new places and explored the haunting and mesmerizing qualities of a Baroque aria, in this case reinvented in modern classical, post modern or jazz form.
