Great theme, even if it has some of Elfman's cliche's it does walk a nice little balance of sounding both big and army like while also paying a bit of good homage to the soundtracks of 50s sci-fi films which I suppose fits with the flick.
Isn’t it a little too sci fi for it? Don’t get me wrong I love that ominous sound from the music even I’m aware that the movie and the songs were made by the two men who also did other movies besides Batman
Obviously has Danny Elfman's flare, but it definitely feels like a love letter to Bernard Herrmann (seeing as he composed for the Day The Earth Stood Still, whidh most likely set the bar for alien invasion music.)
Rotarr The Fly Another possibility is the Daleks enslave them? They'd make excellent soldier for the Daleks, like an Invasion Force? That they send down to a planet ahead of them to crush any resistance before they arrive? After the plagues and all that of course. They really could serve the Daleks very well and even they'd have to see the value in these martians as soldiers.

I'm just imagining three mars attack aliens awkwardly in the background when Obi Wan and Padme come to confront Anakan. The camera keeps cutting back to them, they are visually uncomfortable and confused and not wanting to get involved in the drama. Realizing Anakan's a punk, they decide to kill all three and be on their way.
Who else is listening to this while looking up at the bright red full Mars in the night sky? If the Martians want to invade then right now is the best time to do it.
That part there is used all over the place. It's originally from an old Gregorian chant; Dies Irae. Here's a video with a bunch of uses in different movies: ruclips.net/video/GLGa6vfDTIM/видео.html
Given the progress that Elon Musk at SpaceX perhaps this theme should be reanmed EARTH ATTACKS! I can almost visualize a Mars-Hollywood poster with Elon Musk's face superimposed on an octopus in a globe held by two zombie Jeff Bezos lookalike minions. A martian couple cowers in fear in the lower right corner. Thousands of Starhips and NASA robots appear in the background. It would be a B-Movie even on Mars but it would be a collectable!
Compare this march with the one from Judge Dredd (1995), and it makes sense why these guys would be perfect foils of each other. Dredd's guiding principle is simply the Law, and nothing else. In order to survive, Megacity I as well as humanity needs order to survive. Contrast that with the Martians who come to Earth only to cause chaos and throw the idea of Law out the window. Not to mention, Martian to Judge, they're two sides of the same coin. Two opponents, armed only with a single universally-applicable firearm, fighting with all their might to uphold their side of Order versus Chaos, and their respective themes match this. Dredd's has clear, crisp, militaristic tones to it, not a single note missing a beat. Alternatively, the Martians' march incorporates many zany, unorthodox instruments like the theremin, and many of the parts overlap with each other to create a deeper sense of chaos
