Hi i have G30 540i and i need to change the battery ( the small battery ) before disconnecting the battery under the hood it is necessary to put the car in sleep mode?? or something similar I mean when connecting the cables and disconnecting them from the battery. Thanks
I just had it off the whole process with the fob key away from the car. After completing the replacement, I’ve just turn on the car as normal and perform the error code verification as shown in the video. Good luck
I have a G30. My iDrive keeps resetting date & time every time a switch on the engine. I am suspecting that weak Aux battery is the cause for time reset. I Will try to follow this totorial and change the battery.
Hi, I really did not noticed the battery failure neither I observe the resetting of anything in iDrive. I found out by checking the codes with BimmerLink and a bluetooth OBD2 scanner. To be honest I did not know the vehicle has 2 batteries, I always thought the only batttery was the Aux batt under the hood. I advice to scan first your G30, I show the error code read at the beginning of the video.
I didn’t know g30 has two battery… all off them even 540i? I changed the Emergency Sos Battery small in the roof but never heard off extra auxiliary battery
Hi, I think you are referring the small Battery holder on the bottom, the small bracket. I know it is tricky to place it back because it is not flat and it is supposed to seat on the battery side to hold the battery in place. I place the battery fist then I place the holder with the bolt to better align it into the threaded hole. Good luck.

It depends on the equipment the vehicle has, it may have up to 3 batteries. The main battery for this vehicle is in the trunk.
