Thank you for such great job. This selection gives very good understanding of the evolution of Don Quixote in Mariinsky. The choreography is different from what was danced in the Bolshoi, but several currently dancing ballerinas choose Bolshoi choreography in the 3rd act. Lyudmila Semenyaka was performing in the Bolshoi in 1986, but she did dance Don Quixote with Baryshnikov in Mariinsky in 1971-1972. Komleva and Kurgapkina are not in their prime time in those videos. They were legendary , but they were not prima ballerinas. However, the music was not slow in that variation then like it is for almost all younger generation dancers except Matvienko, Tereshkina, Novikova, Shakirova and Batoeva who (except Tereshkina) danced this variation with more difficult Bolshoi (Gorsky's) choreography. Diana Vishneva was very young, but impressive. Yevseyeva and Tereshkina showed the most artistry. Obraztsova and Tkachenko are really much slower than anyone else. As to fouettés: Semenyaka and Yevseyva are the best at a classic version, Matvienko and Novikova dance the more difficult version, but Tereshkina and Shakirova show the true masterclass. Bravo Mariinsky ballerinas!

I was too young for understanding quality of performance balerinas in 1971. Today I see Gabriela Komleva is the best! Notice, please, in 1971 orchestra play in more high tempo. Dance in high tempo is difficult, but all Gabriela movements were amassing absolutely. Just look at her point shows. It is jewellery performance! It seems the modern balerinas spent more time are trying stop and freeze in wonderful position.

thanks for those beautiful videos, I love Tereshkina, impeccable technique, but also a lot of personality in her interpretation, and nice use of the fan ! I noticed also that Skorik (I didn't know her) is the only one who does a part of the fouettés with a straight leg, it is nice and changing from the other ballerinas. I have to say that Russia has so many extraordinary ballerinas, they have good ballet schools, but sometimes it is difficult to see a difference in their artistic personality. Some of them manage to bring their artistic skills to these great technique, like Svetlana, Natalia, Maya, Uliana Lopatkina and also in the young generation, Renata and Theresa. Excuse me if I forget some names but they are so many ...

С Образцовой темп медленный и далее все медленно не музыкально не интересно . Комлева Кургапкина Семеняка брава👏в этой вариации нужен темп бравурность а не ритмичное бум бум. Рената Шакирова держит темп бравурность! Новикова Терешкина также баснословна

It is great pleasure to watch this selection of Kitris, but a couple of Cuban, Spanish, Korean and Japanese performances are missing. My basic physical features for ballerinas in this variation are long straight legs, long flexible arms and palms, funny face. I prefer performances without fan.

The earlier ballerinas were more bravura than the ballerinas from 1980s onward. You forgot to put in the great Maximova, but I appreciate your assembling this together. The earlier ballerinas had such a great musicality. Often the later ones were so far off the music that what bravura they had was wasted.

Мне вот интересно. Все балерины танцуют одно и тоже, но все по разному. Понятно, хореограф-постановщик как видит так и ставит. Но так можно вообще уйти от первоначальной хореографии в дикий лес. Музыку ведь не меняют?
Музыку то не меняют, а вот темп и акценты меняют! Послушайте музыку у Кургапкиной или Семеняки к примеру и у Образцовой и лалее. Танец абсолютно разный!

Темп меняют потому что надо демонстрировать технику, а ТАНЦЕВАТЬ уже некогда, ну а про актерскую игру.....
