    I know a lot new comers to carpet cleaning who have purchased equipment, whether a truck mount or portable, and couldn’t get hardly any business because their city was oversaturated with carpet cleaners… the thing about homeowners is that once they find a cleaner they like, they always use them indefinitely and your city has been comb through 1000X times over by the other larger cleaners who have plenty of marketing dollars to spend. For 99% of those starting they may want to start out having another income until they build up enough work. Be ready to hustle hard to get it off the ground.

    • @greenrhinoproject
      @greenrhinoproject  2 года назад +5

      Not really, less quality companies then you think. It’s about targeting your audience when advertising. Then keeping them. Building your business for success not just buying equipment and expecting the phone to start ringing. You have to have a game plan. That’s what I teach.

    • @SpiritTracker7
      @SpiritTracker7 2 года назад +3

      @@greenrhinoproject As with any business, it's going to boil down to a saturated market. A lot of these new carpet cleaners can't wait 6 months only to get 13 carpet cleaning appointments. Learning to clean carpet and putting together the financing to buy it all is the easiest part of it. Getting customers and building a clientele is a whole other level of difficulty. I am not saying that it can't be done... I am saying that it can be extremely SLOW for the first few years. Understanding your demographics is business 101. If you have a city population of 400k, and there 317 existing carpet cleaners in your area then you better believe that it's going to be a dog fight. Mark my words, learning to carpet clean, understanding the best chems and applications, and purchasing everything is the easiest part. From there one better know how to market themselves effectively and be willing to have a slow start.. unless of course they are trying to beat everyone with ridiculously low prices and working to break even.

    • @geministeemers7824

      @@SpiritTracker7 BOOM💥 FACTS! You nailed it Vim. I agree...you can have all the latest equipment in the world, but if your not marketing your company effectively, you will not succeed in the floor cleaning industry...period. It definitely comes down to demographics and your SEO plan because you better have one in our industry. I started my company 3 years ago and everything you said is right on target! If you live in a large city, there's no way you can compete when 99% of your competitors have truck mounts. That's like a bicycle trying to race a motorcycle.

    • @SpiritTracker7
      @SpiritTracker7 2 года назад +3

      @@geministeemers7824 I have a solid SEO background, as that is part of my skill set. Carpet cleaning is more of a side hustle for me, and I do way more hardwood floor care. But I have been ranking for carpet cleaning in a 5 mile radius (wasn't even trying) and I still only get a call once or so a week. I don't place much emphasis on trunk mount, portable, or VLM, because the customer only cares about clean carpets but since there are hundreds of competitors, they are also able to price shop. For carpet cleaning, in my demographic area, even online marketing isn't enough. You have to mix in some traditional marketing as well, and make connections with people. I would venture to guess that a good chunk of the population already have their favorite carpet cleaners in their contacts. Once they find a carpet cleaner who makes them happy, and the price is right, they keep using them over. As I pointed out above, one needs to bring their A game on on every front... SEO, Ads, traditional marketing, connections, flyers, events, etc. Carpet cleaning has become a dog eat dog industry in many areas... and the number one mistake I see is new people investing a lot of money and jump in blindly, and then are unable to even book a weeks worth of work in the first 6 months.

    I never understand after cleaning a lot of carpet why a portable. There is a machine that no one talks about. Wallk behind extractor that goes forward and backwards. Wands plug in so you have the best of all situations.
    I now have two mid size and small.
    I find as a rule people are sheep and not creative.
    Steam cleaning is vary allusive. 50c here in oz up in Queensland you will see no steam. In the uk or poland there will be visible steam. So i feel it is a total play on the mind, clever marketing.
    Remember the further away and the out side temperature has a mJor effect. Same with vacuum. Bigger the bore and length you will need a very powerful vacuum. Very few look at the technical side.
    A true steam cleaner would burn the carpet/melt it.
