@ProYamYamPC it was more cpu limited, really, like in Killzone, BF4, Witcher 3, AC Unity, but devs just couldn't afford to simplify geometry even further and drop asset quality to sub-hd, because it would look horrifying. However, it was already tested that even as low-end as FX 4300 could pull more stable framerates than PS4. 7850 is just running out of vram, it was pretty obvious from the start it can't do better than 760, 950 and other 2gb gpus, which sank hard even back in 2016. Ps4 could use like up to 4gb of memory for gpu tasks. But if 7970 can hold up against Pro console, this one would too with just a bit more vram.
The R7 370 is actually closer to the PS4 GPU due to superior memory bandwidth when compared to the HD7850. The R9 390 is as close to the PS4 Pro GPU you can get but it is a little more powerful. The FirePro W5100 is an almost perfect stand in for the Xbox One/ One S GPU. The R9 390 is a perfect stand in for the Xbox One X GPU.
590 is a silicon refresh of 580, actual new silicon. You need a 480 class to play console games. Gcn1 is NOT legitimate console hardware. Games need 8gb vram. Gcn1 doesn't have the vram, dx12 support, FREESYNC or VIDEO RECORDING. This proves consoles are NOT using gcn1. The minimum comparison is a 390, while maximum is a 580. Gcn is backwards compatible to an extent, but I would never say the first gen is console equivalent, because it clearly doesn't have feature parity.
Gotta note that PS4 uses freeBSD, which is much lighter than any windows OS. And some games run at 900p on the PS4. It's really a decent machine with the limited cooling it has.On a regular PC an RX480 would probably be a closer match than the HD7850..
The RX 480 would be close to the PS4 Pro GPU,... the og PS4 gpu is mostly an match to the Radeon R7 370, the OS is mostly helpful to free resources from the cpu (which isn't a very fast one on the PS4) and ram, gpu performance is mostly not affected (and the og PS4's gpu could actually do much more, if the cpu wasn't that slow).
I noticed that the problem is not only the gpu chip itself, but the lack of VRAM for running most of recent titles. You can observe that on games that are not that VRAM intensive it performs nicely.
The 7850 had a bit of a cult status due to being easy to overclock, and was a great price for a performance card due to that. The PS4 kinda ended up being similar to the 7870 performance wise.
The ps4 can run some games better than the HD 7970. Also, in Ghost of Tsushima my gtx 1060 6gb performs about the same as the ps4 (30-40fps medium settings or 40fps on lowest), but thats mainly because the they don't bother optimizing for old gpus anymore.
My prediction, it going to be a bit worse then the PS4 due to developer optimizations. I had a GTX 660 when the PS4 came out, I think the GTX 660 with an i7 3770 was a fair bit better then PS4 when comparing games like AC black flag, gtav, and witcher 3
When unlocked, 30fps games could run above 30fps on the base PS4. It is a matter of optimization. I think a hacked PS5 with unlocked fps will be great because PS5 supports VRR.
Does the PS4 pro have a different GPU? Game's like Ghost of Tsushima, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and God of War as well as Ragnarok all ran really well for me so I have to assume it's just because I had the Pro.
Not expecting a lot. Even back then the PS4 had to run some games at 900p.
Yeah it sure did. Particually in games which were targeting 60 FPS. I think Battlefield 4 was one of them

Yeah but in 2012 or where the PS4 released there only was fx or phenom processors i think.@@БоднарРостислав
Playing stuff like ghost of Tsushima on the ps4 I really felt the fps dropping sometimes, but can't really complain since it's like 11 years old atp

Makes sense, I looked at the specs. And the PS4 Pro GPU is almost like for like an RX 590. Could be a good video idea
@ProYamYamPC 👏
@@ProYamYamPC Which is like a RX580, and that which is basically a RX480 but factory overclocked.
@@MateoThePro yeah you’re right. I’m guessing the 590s are just binned and like you said, factory OCd

Have you tried the modded drivers?
Also yeah I almost guarantee that any of those more demanding titles do not run 1080p on the ps4. They are probably more like 720p. Sometimes less.
i think you should test performance in 720/900p for games that cant run 1080p well
I noticed that the problem is not only the gpu chip itself, but the lack of VRAM for running most of recent titles. You can observe that on games that are not that VRAM intensive it performs nicely.
the ps4 had more than 2GB available for VRAM at runtime most of the time
Thats why I still keep my SAPPHIRE NITROO RX 590 it's fun to see what modern games I can still play on it.

0:57 Didn't Terascale cards have those TFlops?
After a brief look on Techpowerup, I can't find any Terascale cards which have a similar teraflop count
@@ProYamYamPC The HD 5830 has almost 1.8 TFlops. This is Terascale.
Dude put the benchmarks on the videos it makes the video look attractive and more interactive . The static bar graphs are way too bland.
I agree. The video playing behind the benchmarks with transparency. Super cool!

Nimez drivers for this right?
I have one of theses cards. A powercolor one. I tried using the nimez drivers on Tiny11 and they would not install, just hang.
I remember playing Xbox One and games like PUBG took ages to render in buildings haha this is a breeze by those standards 🤣
