I have always had a blast watching races from Lancaster and Cherokee. Both remind me of NASCAR's Martinsville Speedway. Long straightaways and tight corners.
Lancaster is one of the tracks that was never shortened like the others. I went there with Freddy Smith when he was just getting started. I remember Freddy was running good untlil a flat tire ended his night. We had a big laugh because the local boys down there opened the passenger doors and crawled into the car. Freddy's door panels were brazed on and he crawled in through the window like drivers do today. Awesome drive by JJ in that heat race.
