THE HARDEST PLACE TO CATCH FISH? SYDNEY HARBOUR KINGFISH -LANDBASED FISHING AUSTRALIA

  • Fishing Sydney Harbour land based off arguably the hardest spot in the area to land Kingfish. Fishing from such a height (roughly 3m depending on tide) makes it extremely hard to bring the fish up as they swim down and fight dirty trying to bust you off against hundreds of pylons directly below. In the video it shows us reefing the fish in a slinging motion as it is the only way to successfully land them. Being roughly 3m off the water its very hard to use a net to land these type of fish.
    One of many more colabs to come with my main man Marki Mark. We caught a heap of Yellow Tail Kingfish and East Australian Salmon which made for a challenging day fighting these powerful fish.

      Thanks heaps mate. Thats awesome, are you still here? theres plenty around. Its not really easy to find them land based, you have to put in a lot of hours to find out where they are and then be there every day until you land one. Best bet if you're not sticking around long is go on a charter, they will accommodate for your son too and it'll guarantee you fish and a great time on the harbour. If get in contact with Stu from Fishabout charters he will look after you mate... good luck and tight lines

    As a resident fisherman of the piers for many yrs the best way to tame any king is to use an 8ft PE8 rod with 80lbs main line and 80lbs leader. With this setup and using the pump n wind technique you should land most kings in under 10secs. I've met both you guys before. Well done on the fish

    • @spinkingsyd
      @spinkingsyd  5 лет назад

      Completely agree brother. I've got my heavy set up ready to go but try not to use it as I feel the King's are most of the time leader shy and 80lb definitely cuts down the hook up rate for me. But thanks for the tip! Come say hey next to you see us :)

    Here in NZ we measure ours from the middle of the V not the tips and our minimum size is 75cm so if you guys think those are big fish then you aint seen nothin yet....Thats a little rat king and about the same size as our Kahawai (or salmon as you guys call them). Use to fish that spot over 10 years ago before it got too crowded.
    That exact spot that you're fishing has surgeonfish directly below the pilons.
    You think kings are hard to land? Try landing a surgeonfish.
    They've got the smallest mouths so you'll need a small hook with atleast 30lbs flurocarbon.
    I'd recommend a jigging rod to pull them out.
