      She has done very well, hugely popular songs and I think on the whole she is fondly thought of. Glad she overcame her demons to better herself and was self-aware enough to make positive changes. I've had a similar childhood to her and also dabbled in drugs and I think if I had her money back then I would also probably be dead! But we all learn from our mistakes and become better people (if we so choose to)

    I got to see the GoGo's, I think in 1980. Trust me Belinda, you weren't the only one there that was trashed. I liked your music then and still do. Those years in the 70s were just the beginning of a life long addiction for me. I have 2 1/2 years now in recovery. I'm so grateful for the treatment center I went to. These months of being clean and sober for me haven't been easy, but I plan to keep trying. Hope you do as well. God Bless!

      Good for you. It gets better. I also saw the Gogo’s in 1980, I had a huge crush on the guitarist, I forget her name but she appeared to be the most musically competent to my naive teenage musicians eyes. I probably would have had a heart attack if I knew they were hoping for groupies. Not that I would have done anything, way too shy and prudish (I used to think it was respect for women, sure - that was part of it :D). I remember Ms Carlile saying in an interview she’d lost weight when she got off cocaine in about 1992-3. Well, that didn’t compute :D.
      I’m very impressed with her maturity about it now, though. The longer it goes on the harder it is to deal with. Or so a friend told me….

    I am one of the original fans of Belinda and the Go Go's. OMG ............ the 80's would not have been the same without the Go Go's. I was there, at every concert and believe it or not; as a recovering addict myself of some 30 years plus I intentionally did not use mind altering drugs for those concerts. I wanted the unaltered mind set to enjoy that incredible music and time. Loved it all and she, and or they were a big part of my life then. I am pleased that Belinda found a better way, as did I. Nice to see we are both here to talk about it.

    From the first time I heard her voice I was hooked. I was intrigued and I admired Belinda Carlisle for her beauty for her sassiness. She was real. She was beautiful on the outside as well as the inside and I'm sure she still beautiful inside today. But one thing I would tell her is that she's probably still alive because she's loved by many, including myself. Once you love someone and they're in your heart and soul, their energy feeds you and you feed their energy and I wish her well. Even though our time on earth is limited, the joy we have in life is unlimited. With just a smile. You touch my heart and soul enough to last a lifetime. Wishing you the best things in life. For me that is family friends with time to enjoy them

    Belinda Carlisle taught me how to dance. I was about to leave high school, scared to death, and would watch her video "Mad About You" when videos were still played. She, frankly, taught me how to dance. I gained confidence from her. Went to college, met one of the greatest people in my life because my first night there, he danced next to me and said, "You're the only one here who knows how to dance." She has a soul that comes out extraordinarily even through a television. The world needs more Belinda Carlisles.

    How can she experience such deep inner conflict and insecurity? If she struggles this much, others who are less fortunate in terms of looks and background must find it even more challenging. She has been beautiful from her younger years to now, and I find her both attractive and full of life. People shouldn't focus on the negatives; there's so much more to appreciate and be grateful for in life.

    I don't know about "Tragic", " We" all have our experiences, and the challenges life has presented to us, the only difference with Belinda, is that much of it was in the public domain;
    Having said that, Belinda and the "Go Go's" played an integral part of popular music/culture in the 80's, certainty one of my favorites-

    Sigh…had a crush on her for yeeeears. I was a little boy when the Go-gos hit, and I remember feeling all red faced when she was onscreen- her and Debbie Gibson lmao 😂! In retrospect, the blonde guitarist from gogos is honestly the hottest one, I feel- and the drummer, but the drummer because she just rips as a musician and seems tough as nails. They all seem pretty damn cool, too. They set my standard for the kinda gal I would grow up to want.❤

      PS- To be fair, Jane, the super tiny other guitarist, wrote most of the songs. She also must sleep in a cryo coffin, because she looks and sounds almost exactly the same as she did like 40 years ago…🎉You Go-Go, Grrrrl!!!

    I never knew any of this 😮
    I remember her from the 80s and being probably the best looking woman ive ever seen in my life.
    Its difficult to accept that such a beautiful woman thought so lowly of herself and had a drug habit 🤔 i mean it doesnt make sense, the girl can sing, she was/is utterly beautiful where a runway model would be jealous of how good she looked compared to them.
    This lady had it all, if youre looking for top tier femininity Belinda ticked every box.
    Hope shes feeling better either way, she touched a lot of people with her music.

    Aren't you even going to mention that when she first wanted to be in music she had an extremely short time as a Germ? The short lived punk rock band that collapsed after their lead singer Darby Crash committed suicide by overdosing on heroin. The group also featured Pat Smear, who later played as a guitarist for Nirvana and now currently with the Foo Fighters.

    I saw her for the 1st time outside the videos that made her famous, on the Tonight Show W/Johny Carson, and Johny was so frustrated interviewing her because she seemed so closed off to his questions, and she was so dull!!! I knew something was not right with her. So I'd just pop another beer to chase my 151 Bacardi rum, 😝 yum!!!!

    And people who are struggling to make ends meet DON'T HAVE THE LUXURY TO CRY, COMPLAIN, OR MOAN about their addictions, lost love, complain about their perverse children turning gay. They're TO BUSY tryna work all the time just to put food on the table and keep from being evicted.
