I'm so glad these are being posted; how incredible it must be to receive such a call. It's so moving just to witness this.
Is this really how they inform the winner/s? Cause it easily couldve been a prank call.
Its how they do it for all. The Nobel Prize winners for economics went viral last year because they called at 3Am and the other guy couldn't be reached--turned off his phone so his co-winner (also his neighbor) went to his house to tell him.
Some laureats did think that it was a prank. The literature laureate thought it was a prank.
That's a great question and thanks for pointing it out. It didn't occur to me, because all I thought of was "Nobel Prize". The call could also have easily been a prank call! It's the world will live in, so how does one know for sure, that it's not a prank call other than knowing the name of the secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee?

Utt Oh! She did say she was actually on a “live” event. Near end of call, the gentleman asked Ms. Ressa to keep this news quiet, basically tell no one.... I hope it worked out good for her.
She put herself on mute. It was a webinar on, I belive, freedom in journalism.
If she wasn’t on loud speaker (and I think she isn’t), then she’s safe. She didn’t mention anything about her winning the award on her end.

IM a Filipino Norweigian living here, only one hour drive from Oslo, and also quite shocked upon hearing the announcement coz Maria Rezza is one person I'm following at CNN before and Rappler. How I wish to meet here in OSLO at the ceremony and she will be given concert, and she will give speech both ceremony. This will be in December with the attendance of prominent Norwegians and the Royal FAMILY coming to meet her. MABUHAY
