Awesome interview. Maria Ressa is so visionary, articulate, researched and "real world". Fighting such an uphill battle against entrenched demons of social media and information dissemination.
I saw Ms Ressa on Stephen Colbert and I couldn't get enough of her. Her interview was powerful.
It must have been chilling since she wants journalists who speak freely locked away for life including Julian Assange.

The best interview I have ever seen (and there are many great ones) of Ressa. The volley between Maria's ideas/data/information and Margaret's sharp, informed and insightful questioning is refreshing and vital work.

Can you ask a follow up question? Even one? Ressa is giving you great openings to further the conversation and you're just going on to the next unrelated question. Take a page from her book and hold an actual conversation.
Oh boy, PBS programming you can comment on. Never could get behind Wm. F. Buckley or Firing Line during its inception. But if this is an indication of what it has evolved *into then I could adopt it as a reputable news magazine.

The security of our democracy is tenuous, yet we have no urgency on defending it because of the insidious nature at which democracy is being attacked. That is the scariest part. Maria Ressa describes the attack as death by a thousand cuts, then one day we drop dead and democracy as we know it is gone. My hope is that some sort of legislation passes to fix the current mechanisms that exist with social media, preferably with urgency.

Maria Ressa should stop playing the victim. The causes she has been espousing date back to the 1970s and never gained traction in the Philippines. The fact that she is a CNN alumnus and a fact-checker for FB says a lot about her credibility. She has won over the likes of Amal Clooney who is as clueless as I am to the internal affairs of, say, Timbuktu. She talks about threats to her life yet she comes and goes wherever she pleases. She is not as significant as she thinks she is, plain and simple. However, I love that she brought the first Nobel Prize for the Philippines, for whatever it's worth.
