Every one of the apostles were martyred, dying the worst possible deaths you can imagine. Crucified upside down, thrown in boiling oil, skinned alive, beheaded, just about every awful way to go. Each one was asked to renounce Christ if they wanted to live. Not one did. Would you die the worst death imaginable for nothing? Something you knew for sure was a lie? I think not. Every one of them saw the risen Christ and refused to renounce Him.
This is baseless and doesn't mean anything. Lots of people throughout history were manipulated into cults and were willing to give their life up for a cause they thought was worth it, even if it meant death or pain. Doesn't make it true in any way. Invalid argument, fallacy in itself.
@@YoungMorroc that may be true but those who were manipulated wouldn’t have known the truth. If the disciples stole the body, then they would have known the truth. I say Jesus is real because the things that I have gone through and the things I personally experienced, there are no ways to explain, describe, or prove other than the coming to the conclusion that it was God himself
Life according to science is based on fear to keep us alive. To toss that built in feeling is simply losing your mind and abandoning thousands of years of evolution. So anyone who does, in this age is void of consequence. If you did this 1000k or even 500 years ago, could mean death. Enjoy your life, but you probably don’t got it right.
You cut the video before Chris replied to Joe's case to make it fair. One of the people who saw Jesus actually hated him and didn't want to see him. He was killing Christians for their belief cos he thought it was blasphemy. Then Jesus came to him and he became a believer. After that he started healing people just as Jesus did. His name was Paul. Best witness testimony there is of Jesus coming back from the dead.
There’s no best witness. There’s too many witnesses. How about James? Half brother of Jesus. Non-believer throughout his life. Then something happened. Ended up writing about events. Was martyred. Just look at who was at the cross when he died. Everyone thought it was a lie. Something happened after his death that compelled everyone to come out as lions.
Joe is the type of guy to say scholars from 2,000 years ago didn't know shit when it came to the Bible, but then say Ancient Egyptians were super advanced and intelligent.
So if Jesus was just a guy without any divine nature, that doesn’t explain the acts of his apostles in the aftermath of the crucifixion. They had to have seen and experienced something so profound that they shared this story in all corners of the known world at the time under constant threat of death where just prior to the crucifixion they were cowards, and willingly went to their gruesome deaths without hesitation or distress.
@@anthonydowney-uo2zo well, the point I’m making is more about the apostles themselves. They were not gods, but had witnessed the works of God enough to have absolute certainty that something better awaited them in the next life. Not a single one of them wavered in their belief over their lifetime, and most willfully went to their deaths for spreading the gospel.
@@iaddington I mean Christianity didn't invent martyrdom... Buddhist, Hindus, cynics, philosophers, essenes tons of people died for beliefs in altruism and spreading truth
@@anthonydowney-uo2zo again, not the point I’m making. In the gospels prior to the crucifixion, the apostles were cowards. They failed Jesus at every turn. Then after the crucifixion and resurrection, their backbones stiffened. Suddenly they were fearless. Why? Because they experienced something so significant that death was no concern for them.
The Case for Christ is by Lee Strobel, Lee Strobel was an investigative journalist who worked in Chicago and was an editor for The Chicago Tribune. He started his research as an atheist because his wife became a christian and he hated it. He did his research in order to discredit his wife's new found faith and in doing so became a Christian himself, and wrote the book. This guy Distefano didn't say one thing that I just wrote about the book or the author. Has Joe Roagn read any parts of the Bible? Would that be disingenuous to make statements and accusations about Jesus and the Bible without due diligence? He also contradicts what he's stating. Examples being Lee Stroble is not ignorant. There has only been one Jesus, so you can't go by Occam's razor, He's a one of. The Pharisees heard and saw what Jesus did and was doing, and still they refuse to believe. Heres an Occams razor, the simplicity of who and why Jesus came is because of sin, and He is the only way to everlasting life, that He came, died, and rose again, dying for all sin, and whoever should believe in Him should have everlasting life. In any case, Joe should have more Biblical apologists like Steven Meyer, and William Lane Craig( in my opinion weren't truly genuinely open without reservation when they were on his show.) Maybe having Frank Turek, or J. Warner Wallace on his show.
I think having John Lennox, Frank Turek or even Lee Strobel himself. I personally think Frank Turek with a good 2 to 3 hours would break it right down. He might not even need that much time to do that.

The question I would ask… is if the Apostles stole the body and it’s a lie…. How many people will die the way they died for a lie? That many people, someone would have caved.
If a bunch on people said they saw aliens and were threatened with death if they didn’t stop taking about it and chose to die instead of stopping, Joe would be all on board how that proves it happened.

We have to remember that Chris is a comedian and although i'm not saying comedians cant be theologists or apologists of Christianity - we can see here that Chris is not the best suited to articulate but, his efforts are definitely appreciative none-the-less. Joe needs to get a real apologist/theologian like Dr. Frank Turek on there.
I just think it’s funny how people believe that there was a random “big bang” that just randomly occurred for no reason and that was able to create a planet that just happens to be the perfect environment for human being to survive. That it has a sun which is just apparently some random star and a moon that orbit around this planet regulating the temperature and the tides. People believe all of that just happened randomly? It seems to me much more believable that there was a architect behind these things.
Yes.. and it just so happens to be that the sun and moon, although vastly different in size, are exactly the same size when viewed from earth (as is apparent in an eclipse) because they just happen to be "placed" at perfect distances from us in some crazy happy coincidence.
Joe doesn't understand that most of life goes along where everything seems to happen naturally but there are times that God steps in a supernatural way. And as an edit: when Joe moved to Texas he stated that whatever Texas is doing to make it great, that's what I want keep doing it and he immediately goes off on his child getting taught about Christ in school and says that he doesn't want his kid being taught that. Well, you don't want what made Texas great after all.
Uh.. or the gun laws, self defense laws, taxes, etc. trust me God has NOTHING to do with Texas being great. If anything there’d just be more rape crimes from priests molesting them
This presupposes they knew it was a lie. It also presupposes the disciples died for their beliefs and were given the chance to renounce him before being killed. Which we have very little evidence for.
Did the people at Jonestown die willingly for what they knew was a lie? Saul the Jewish zealot who became The Apostle Paul, in his defense before the learned King Agrippa said "I know that you know this because this wasn't done in a corner." See Acts chapter 26. Paul, who had hated Christ and Christians became one himself and spread the gospel over Asia and Europe before his beheading. He could have recanted and saved himself but chose death. He said, "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain." His experience like millions of Christians is hard to gainsay
It comes down to the extraordinariness of the claims and stories about them. An outlandish claim about Alexander is believable because it’s fun to believe and otherwise has little to no bearing on our lives. However, the outlandish claims about Jesus are apparently the most important facts about history (if true). Chris kept talking about how 500 people saw Jesus resurrect. Do we have their names and proof of their existence? Did they all write it down? No and no… the only support comes from the Bible and literally nowhere else.
@maddhopps there's plenty of support for it other than the Bible. Alexander is no more fun to believe than Jesus 🤣 you can't speak for everybody on that one. Unless you're just speaking for atheists.
@Christoph-hc2xr great so we believe that but not Jesus? How about the Spartans leaving a new born baby out in the woods to be exposed to cold, hunger and predators. Of course we are expected to believe that because the ones who "survived" could be deemed fit for Spartan culture. Stuff of legend of course.
The Bible mentions that 500 people saw Jesus after he resurrected, yet we have no idea who these people are. There are no testimonials from these people. It was just written as part of the story.
He was our brother. In my belief I’m not into or don’t care the Abrahamic religions. They were made to divide in my opinion into 3 hence the father son and Holy Spirit
Depends who you ask back then. Christian’s would say yes, but other (except for some Jewish sects) Abrahamic religions say no. Gnostics would say it’s metaphorical.
Joe is asking important questions and challenging cultural norms. Guess what - JESUS DID THE SAME THING! Jesus was more than a “great guy who said nice things”. In fact, if He isn’t who He claimed to be, His words are the ravings of a complete madman. He claimed to be God. That’s what drove His own people into a murderous frenzy. The whole of HIs message was revolution. It was counter-culture and it made people think on a deeper level than ever before. Looking at Jesus’ life in light of His deity is the only way to make sense of Him and truly, of life itself. Prayers to all who seek - that you will find. Life is better with Jesus.
One important thing about the tomb that wasn't mentioned, was that the tomb was being guarded by Roman soliders, day and night when the tomb was found empty. If the disciples or anybody else came and stole the body, the soliders would've seen/stopped them.
@@Ryan88881 the historians weren't there, at the time of these events, but we have 4 different accounts from people who were actually there. The same 4 who were later put to death in a brutal fashion, nobody would die a brutal death for a lie, let alone 4 different people for the same lie.
@@smokinjoe90 The fact that you think they would die a brutal death even if it WAS real says it all because that premise still makes absolutely no sense.
"The likelihood of someone coming back to life is very low..." That's the point. If God were to come down how else would he prove himself as God? If not to bend the laws physical laws that he made? What Jesus didn't bend was the metaphysical laws that he made, morality for instance. Those laws he did not bend but rather obeyed perfectly because we weren't able to, in order that we might live as someone who did. That's why he died.
I think he's calling out the apparent hypocrisy/ double standard. Rogan has professed many beliefs that have very little or unreliable hisoricity, and some with otherworldly/supernatural claims and yet can't fathom how the Christian story could possibly be true.
Thing is, most people can subscribe to the idea Jesus lived and was a 'good guy', but as soon as you say He was God or seriously consider the resurrection they emotionally can't bear the thought, all while holding plenty of other unprovable ideas about reality. Perhaps that's because Jesus as risen saviour necessarily forces one off the fence. You can't claim neutral or ignorance is either yay or ney with very serious consequences. But that doesn't make it any less plausible, given the evidence.
That’s kinda how God works tho, he defies all logic. He is above all. Out side of space and time and the laws of physics. He is all powerful so resurrection would not be off limits. Things that are impossible for us to understand and do are nothing for God. He’s God. God. He can literally do anything because he is literally God. That’s the explanation. You can’t have a scientific or logical explanation. Well actually, the logic being, that he is God so he can do anything. That is the most logical explanation. We cannot resurrect from the dead, but God can. And that’s it. End of story. Either you accept that or you don’t. But remember, if you decide to live your live separate from God then don’t be surprised when he grants you that wish once you die. Eternity just is. There is no more time in eternity. That concept is gone. So choose wisely.
25 million children under 5 die every year . Most of them are in the " wrong religion" , out of 7 to 8 billion people the vast majority of them are not Christian, and according to your beliefs. No, it definitely doesn’t. It’s written by a dishonest professional apologist who is routinely corrected, but absolutely refuses to acknowledge the challenges laid out. For example, precisely zero contemporaries of Jesus wrote anything down about him. The earliest manuscript we have is a copy of a copy of Mark written at least half a century after Jesus supposedly died.
@@highpriestofgavinalmightyh1304 Then thats positive evidence along with geological evidence, time and place, church fathers, gospels of similar perspectives, etc. There's more evidence pointing towards than there is pointing away from. Especially, in relation with historical aspects that live outside of the biblical scripture lined up to the timeline. I think the hard part that people cant get passed is that there was an immaculate conception and that there was a resurrection from death. Both instances are incredibly improbable if not impossible and thats why the explanation is Divine, miracle - supernatural. Human beings who havent gone through all of the evidence cannot comprehend such an event without having to of been there physically.
@@trunorsemencrafts1369 to come to that conclusion, you had to ignore everything laid out. Even when we take translations of the Bible from over 600 years ago that were written in the old English prior to the modern English of 1611, texts convey different meanings. Then there is the issue that Protestants and Catholics can’t agree on the authenticity of certain texts. I’m fine with you liking the Bible (which ever version) as it is written today, but there is no need to resort to intellectual dishonesty to try and claim that a copy of a copy of a copy of an interpreted copy of a reinterpreted copy of a copy is 90 something percent unchanged from original texts we don’t even have according to “scholars“ most cannot even name. That doesn’t even get into the problem of interpolation overtime which is entirely distinct from interpretation. Generations of people who never wrote anything down listened intently to and repeated fantastical stories. It is still a colossal game of telephone, and in eras before mass literacy. We see discrepancies between the version of the Bible considered canon today, and the oldest copies of copies we have in possession of the original manuscripts. We have dogmatically opposing interpretations of the Bible because the Bible was written by largely anonymous authors who lived at different times, and the various books of the Bible are copies of copies of copies of copies translated over and over again into multiple languages. We have copies of copies of the Hindu Vedas. They have lasted up til today, and they pre-date Christianity and Judaism. Does that make them true? Comparing copies of copies of copies does nothing but give us different perspectives on those copies. It also helps inform us of the misspellings, grammatical errors, and outright changes made throughout the copying process. The Codex Sinaiticus is one of the oldest Bible manuscripts in existence (the other being the Codex Vaticanus). It was produced in about the 4th century AD. In addition to missing several books of the Old Testament, the New Testament has additional books: the Shepherd of Hermas, and the Epistle of Barnabas. This demonstrates that in the mid-4th century when the codex was produced, those books were considered canon by many Christians. While the Christian canon was forming, there were still differences of opinion on what was “God’s word” and what wasn’t.
All the writers of New Testament wrote what they witnessed before the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. The separate writings were gathered together and placed into chapters or books of the Bible later.

According to the New Testament's Gospel of Matthew, Pontius Pilate approved a request from the Pharisees and chief priests to station a guard at Jesus's tomb after his crucifixion and entombment. The guard was either Roman or Jewish, and other precautions included a large stone blocking the tomb's entrance and a Roman seal. The seal was a soft, moldable substance, likely clay, that was attached to the stone with rope and imprinted with the Roman imperial seal. Breaking the seal would have angered the Empire, even if someone managed to get past the guards.
He’s getting all of his information from the Bible. There isn’t any other information about Jesus outside of the Bible that’s what the main problem is. When he keeps the Roman’s say this and the Roman’s said that they said it in the bible

You're right, we have no other historical documents that mention his birth or life. Not even the Paul mentions the early life of Jesus and he actually met Jesus' siblings and disciples.
Joe saying that all those people back then believed in mythological stuff… they didn’t… the Jews were the last people to think that a resurrection could occur and that it would happen to the son of God. Many Jews like the Sadduccees didn’t think it was possible but then became Christ followers after it
Sure, the followers of Jesus lived in a greek society and adopted many of those beliefs. That’s why Jesus became the hellenistic Messiah who didn’t have much in common with the expectations that Jews had of their savior.
why not have Lee Strobel on and talk to him about his book so that he can better explain it to you. He is the one who interviewed all these different theologians. He can explain how the Pharisees had the Roman soldiers guard the tomb. This well intended man is not doing a good job explaining himself. If you want a real discussion about the subject that is.
It is difficult to prove a historic person really existed, but just think about how the days everyone of us are living started counting the day Jesus was born. Wouldn’t that mean something?

Moses was raised by the daughter of the Pharoah in Egypt. He was fluent in multiple languages and could write also. Not only that Israelites weren't illiterate either. Abram came from UR of the Chaldees in Mesopotamia and knew multiple languages. He would of had to to communicate with other tribes like those around Sodom and Gemorah. His descendants went to Egypt where Moses was born. So the idea of them passing it down by word is an odd one.

So he immediately commanded them to be taken down, and to have the greatest care taken of them in order to their recovery. Yet two of them died under the physicians hands while the third recovered."
I agree! The telephone game is a weak unrealistic argument. What was said at the end of the telephone game is only different from what was said at the beginning because of the fact that they are whispering the words into the next person's ear, which makes it sometimes impossible to hear what was said. If you were to have all of those people playing the game stand outside a room with one person inside the room to start off. Then have the second person come into the room and hear the first person say, "monkeys love bananas". Then have the first person leave the room and the third person come into the room and hear the second person say what they heard from the first person, and so on down to the last person - that last person is going to say, " monkeys love bananas. Analogies can only explain your opinion on a situation, but can never act as evidence!

So if Jesus was just a guy without any divine nature, that doesn’t explain the acts of his apostles in the aftermath of the crucifixion. The Case for Christ is by Lee Strobel, Lee Strobel was an investigative journalist who worked in Chicago and was an editor for The Chicago Tribune.

I use that analogy all the time. People believe the history of Alexander the Great or Spartan lifestyle over Jesus.

I wanna see Joe talk about the 42 laws of Ma'at from ancient Egypt. Then talk to me about Jesus.
What would the 42 Laws of Ma'at have to do with Jesus? Genuinely asking.
Chris did a great job explaining his point!

@@Japangf2345 sure, do the research.
Guess what, Christians tend to "prove" this myth is real, lol. People who aren't Christian tend to say nope.
He did not exist. At all. It's a fantasy designed to control dumb people. Nothing more.
Whenever you look back on history it is extremely ignorant to think they were less or didn’t have knowledge
I think Joe needs to believe it's myth because if he had to take a deep look into himself I don't think he'd like what God expects out of us.For all thave fallen short of the glory of God. We are all sinners and we all need Christ. Knock and the door will be open. We are all children of Adam
I agree
I think that most people who convert to Christianity are just criminals who have much much lower moral standards than even the worst Atheist.
He may not be the best apologist, yet Christ is King 👑.
🤣🤣🤣
Fast forward 6 months and Joe admits he believes in Jesus Christ on his Netflix special
He’s getting all of his information from the Bible. There isn’t any other information about Jesus outside of the Bible that’s what the main problem is. When he keeps the Roman’s say this and the Roman’s said that they said it in the bible
Thats not true at all. Read the Case for the Christ!
Precisely. It's all bs from the Bible and heresay hundreds of years later, lol.
Never happened.
@MrCoolBeans-jg7dc lol, false. It's all fiction.
The only outside information we have of Jesus was that he was a jew who claimed to be the messiah and was crucified. You're right, we have no other historical documents that mention his birth or life.
Not even the Paul mentions the early life of Jesus and he actually met Jesus' siblings and disciples.
Tacitus and Josephus both mention Jesus. They are not in the Bible.
Jesus left a receipt....The Shroud of Turin. God knows the beginning and the end, and made sure all humans be aware.
To many people want to be their own God lmbo fools in reality.. just saying..
Roman, Jewish, Greek and Arabs all wrote historically relatable accounts of Jesus even if they didn't believe
They repeated heresay.
And?
lol no. name one example. i'll wait.
And no one who met Jesus wrote anything down about him.

why not have Lee Strobel on and talk to him about his book so that he can better explain it to you.
Christ Arose... He arose and they suffered rather than renounce him. They happily marched towards suffering, torture and death rather than renounce a risen Jesus Christ. Hallelujah i believe!
🤣🤣🤣This guys is nuts 🤣🤣🤣
I don't know why everybody has to shit on Jesus, he was a righteous dude. Looking at the comments it makes sense to why they crucified him.
They hate Christians and Christianity. But amazingly they don’t have the same criticism or vitriol for Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism....🙄
Ego Joe….
Nothing was written down until Moses
@@anthonydowney-uo2zo
Until 1000 years after Moses…
Harry Potter is real because JK Rowling wrote about him.
Seriously. 😂
@MrCoolBeans-jg7dc spamming nonsense doesn't make it true.
@MrCoolBeans-jg7dc There's nothing historical about that story, because it is a typological story.
@MrCoolBeans-jg7dc
"And when I was sent by Titus Cesar, with Cerealius, and a thousand horsemen, to a certain village called Thecoa, in order to know whether it were a place fit for a camp; as I came back I saw many captives crucified: and remembered three of them, as my former acquaintance. I was very sorry at this in my mind; and went with tears in my eyes to Titus, and told him of them.
It is called Faith, take it on faith.
The Christian version of "source: trust me bro"
Yeah, nope.
That's what cult leaders say. Get it?
@MrCoolBeans-jg7dc third time you spammed this ridiculous nonsense, lol. Still not true.
I like how he said, “easily manipulated”. Interesting!
Joe wants to do things his way. He wants to be his own God. He won't listen. God bless
He thinks a steroid eye poker is the goat though.....
Except there was like 9,999 gods before the concept of Jesus. And all the stories in the bible are derived from those prior religions.
Also Jesus could be a twin and the death of his brother was a way to prove their religion was real. Identical twins have been around for human history.
That's because it takes the Spirit. If it were a matter of reading comprehension, the Jews would believe.
@@dontcare7086you’re talking out of your anus.

my eyes glaze over listening to Christians. Its like listening to children talk about Santa Clause or the Easter bunny.
Seriously. You can hear that this clown knows he never existed, lol.
A big difference is that I know the latter aren't real, because I AM Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
Yeah im sure everyone is scrambling trying to talk to you 🙄
I’ve read the book. He’s right, without a Christian angle, the book proves 100% that Christ lived, etc…
The Alexander the Great twist is that, without him having conquered the known world “PRIOR” to Christ, everyone would have not known the same language.
The Case For Christ is such a badly written and logically flawed book.
Because it's like writing a book insisting that Harry Potter was real. 😂
The connection is Kyle.
Um a book proves what when. Are you insane. Let me write a book where you give me so money. Wait its already been done 1000 times shit
Love whenever this dudes on JRE and speaking of Jesus, I just wish sometimes I was there to help him with some things Joe ask that he can’t answer or can’t find the right words for 😂 that’s just the Christian in us though, and I’m not claiming to be an expert or theologian. Still, love Chris for trying to spread the Word 🙏
Joe Rogan needs to have on Dr. Gary Habermas to give him the real in depth history that proves that Jesus was indeed resurrected. Rogan has only discussed this on the podcast with people on the periphery trying to regurgitate the facts from Dr. Habermas, but not the true LIVING expert that has studied this for over 50 yrs. If you want to actually dive into the resurrection, debate the historical data, and get an education then have Dr. Habermas on the podcast. Also read ‘The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus’ by Gary Habermas.
No one resurrected, and no one is coming back. The truth is within. We are all made of god stuff. Read the Upanishads.

I’ve listened to Habermas. I find his minimal facts argument extremely weak. The dudes arguments are shallow and full of holes.

This guy is a lunatic...
At that time, Roman were one of the best soldiers in the whole world, so a bunch of guys, mostly with no training as Warriors, beat them Rob the body, and the Said to everyone that Jesus Rose from the dead... After that, ALL OF THEM were persecute for saying Thais "lie", and ALL OF THEM got killed and tortured, because of This and never ever denied Jesus...
Ive never see, anyone that would be tortured and killed, because of a lie.
This guy is clearly the head of religious studies somewhere,😂😂 sadly
First I want to say I will pray for yall, second All of you non believers when you face the lord will be told I sent you signs. People talked about me and you still didint believe. You have to believe that he died for you. Cause he did. Once you believe there’s no looking back and the feeling is amazing.
The delusions some people need to tell themselves... Hooooooly sh
Yeah nobody dies for a lie. People die for the truth. And they knew the truth.
What do you mean no one dies for a lie? People die for lies all the time. Also your presupposing they knew it was a lie. As if people are always aware of what’s true.
Of course, Jesus rose from the dead. It's the best explanation, given the facts.
lol No.
People don't die for a lie the way the Apostles were so eager and willing to go down if they knew they were personally being deceptive regarding what happened to Christ. Then there's the matter of Paul who was not a fan of Christians at first who then converted and witnessed these things.
Rogan also contradicts himself when he says they most likely stole the body, but are willing to then believe claims people saw Christ out of desperation? They have His body so they're not believing that either so those two arguments are not compatible unless they were thinking they saw Jesus in spirit form only but then there's the matter of them being deceptive again with their resurrections story knowing what Jesus said about the liar and the deceiver of truth.
joe is the most open minded person you’ll find on the internet, but every time religion is brought up all of that goes out the window 😂
Not really the arguments are all flawed that's why!
Maybe aliens brought him back medically???
