When we first got one of our rescue kittens at about two months old, he was unusually aggressive. I looked this up online and one site said when the kitten acts that way, hold him down firmly for a few seconds while saying “no” (not shouting, which just scares the kitten and won’t teach him how to act). Holding him down is what his mother would do to teach him not to act that way.
I am so fortunate to have 5 cats from the same family. Momma, her two older kittens adopted as rescues, they were taken out from under a shed. She was semi-feral (ie wild but not vicious) and took off before we could have her neutered and had more kittens. We brought everybody back as soon as we could, found homes for babies except for two that I kept. They are a true clan. I had the privilege of having one of the older kittens on my lap with one of the babies and he was being a true uncle as he was teasing the little kid. It was all feints and touches, no rough movements (I could feel it since they were on my lap). All of the mother’s babies are *the* most well adjusted cats I have ever seen.

That was incredible self-control on the part of the senior cat. Showed just enough power to keep the little one at bay instead of trying to hurt her.
