Took my daughter's corolla for the complimentary oil changes and they were not changing the oil. I decided to sign the oil filter and put the cover back on. They showed they changed the oil and filter . Got the car back. Oil looked too brown to be new oil. Removed the cover and my old oil filter i signed still there. While this is more the fault of the dealership, i have spoken to coworkers/friends that other dealerships lied and never changed the oil as well. Sad that big 5 star dealerships are committing this fraud. It only hurts toyota because then when their engines are failing because of the oil changes too.

As a Toyota tech our dealership replaces at least 2-5 transmissions a week. On top of it all, the quality overall has absolutely gone down hill inside and out the vehicles. Imo, Toyota will need to up their warranty to compete as a lot of their drivetrain components are failing a couple miles or months after warranty ends (mainly the 2019+ Camry, Corolla and RAV4 models) (and people still give me crap for getting a stinger with 10 year/100k miles warranty)

The RAV 4 was the noisiest car I have ever driven, disgusting engine and road noise, slow acceleration. Based on the recent stupid engine changes by Toyota (tested new 2.4 L Highlander and was completely disappointed with its noise), I have decided to switch to a 2-4-year old Toyota/Lexus V6 while you can still buy them with low mileage. Struggled getting a decent 2020-2021 RX 350 and a 2020-2021 Highlander Ltd/Plat in a good shape and price, as most people keep them for years. Tried 2022 ACURA MDX and fell in love with it and its V6, and bought it. Extremely nice vehicle inside and out. I stopped listening to a music in the car as I enjoy the engine sound more than any music! :) Although Toyota is experimenting with new power trains using its great engineering capabilities, it looks like it is moving the wrong direction with their V6 by eliminating it.

Glad to hear that the turbo engine is finally being discussed as to its negative issues. You are going to have to replace the turbo when you hit 100 to 150 k miles. Do the auto manufacturers emphasize that turbos need to be handled and driven quite differently than a normally aspirated engines. Start off slow for a few miles to ensure that the oil lubricates the turbo. On a hot day, be sure to run the engine several minutes before shutting down. That simple, but paying more for a turbo engine in any vehicle is crazy!

My wife and I have bought Toyota's for many years but, we have now decided we cannot trust Toyota to build a quality/reliable SUV any more. We are both retired, in our 70's and do a lot of traveling which includes traveling, sightseeing and visiting our relatives in other States. Now ask yourself, if you were in our position, would you run the risk of purchasing an inferior product sold at an inflated price? No, you would not, if you had any sense at all. Now, what should we do? We have decided to delay any purchase of another vehicle until we feel secure in doing so. Another factor that has entered the picture is the future uncertainty of who will be elected President on 11-5-2024. If our Country continues down the Liberal Far-left path, we will absolutely keep what we have and NOT buy any vehicles until the political climate changes along with a more secure future. I can't tell you what is best for you but we feel good about our decision.

Come on folk the situation is beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason a manufacturer can’t make a reliable product in this day and age. As of now, it’s impossible to buy any vehicle that doesn’t have issues but engine and transmission reliability should be paramount, and that isn’t happening. Honda with its 1.5 oil dilution issues (that buyers remain ignorant of) Hyundai and Kia have a decade of engine failures with newer vehicles only hinting they are improving, Audi SUV’s that cost double to maintain, Mazda with redesigns that look like the company executives fell asleep, American cars and trucks that just plain suck, dealer networks that are overwhelmed with recalls and inexperienced staff, cars that promise so much and get expensive to maintain Ike Subaru units…the list goes on and on. And now Toyota with its issue. And every car a small fortune now. Hybrid? Oh add thousands and thousands more. It’s all as bad as hopeless world politics, the demise of democracy, a failing planet. And on and on. And I’m a positive person. Then you have car review channels that say one thing one day and flip a month later. There is lots of click bait once content is watched (not necessarily this channel). My buddy drives older Volkswagen diesel cars here NorthAmerica. Or older Toyotas. Gas gets expensive. You have to do a shoulder check to change lanes. But so frigin reliable. Ugh.
