Its something like thermo magnetic. Things at the same temperature are somehow magnetic to each other. With this, you can trick gravity for a short time. You can see similiar effects with normal printer paper.

Somehow I got the understanding that it was a Tenyo illusion, and I've tried creasing cards like that with another trick that involved cutting to the aces by creasing each one like I was shown in the video, but I couldn't even cut to one ace.

I'm pretty sure that a stripped breather deck will do everything you need... the breather for the pickups, and the strip for selection, cutting, finding, etc
