Maxx C is far from ideal for this deck, but I don’t buy the sentiment that it didn’t see success in the OCG specifically because Maxx C exists there. Unchained was getting similar levels of representation as decks like Bird Up, Grass Chaos Piles and Valyantz - and it plays into Maxx C infinitely better than those decks.
With Unchained, you open a handtrap and/or archetypal trap, you usually just give the opponent 2 draws for 2-3 interuptions. If you open all engine, maybe you push to 3 draws for 3-4 interruptions. Both of these are obviously bad tradeoffs, but they’re by no means auto-losses. That type of endboard is comparable to something you’d see from a Maxx C-d Swordsoul pilot - and SwoSwo is a deck known for its better-than-nothing Maxx C backup plan that has had plenty of MD/OCG success.
IMO Unchained didn’t underperform because of its issues with Maxx C - there were plenty of other combo decks getting more tops than Unchained during DUNE format. It underperformed because the OCG playerbase is split between balls-to-the-walls combo deck players (with the mindset of “Maxx C doesn’t exist, it can’t hurt me”), and more conservative players who don’t want to risk bringing a deck with any level of Maxx C weakness to a tournament. You can’t convince me that Maxx C was the issue when decks like Phantom Knight were outperforming it.
Unchained doesn't lose to Snake-Eyes, it loses to Maxx "C". And going second into a board of backrow. And bricking on the doggo.

send LK with oak to get Flam
summon jet synchron, make formula with pop + jet, make baron get back oak and pop w/ flam
discard to special jet from grave
with 3 lvl 1s make i:p then make princess, princess get back flam, flam place i:p, baron pop princess
