Bro, gear cycle is necessary for adults. Bachchoko thik hai single gear cycle. Wo jyada se jyada 2-5 km cycle chalate hai. Adults jyada chalaenge. To city ho ya bahar, terrain ups and downs hote hai. Bridges hote hai. Vaha pe single gear cycle chadhane me jaan nikal jati hai. Where as gear wali cycle aram se chadha sakte hai.
don't waste your money on a non-geared cycle, it'll be to hard to pedal uphill, you'll quit cycling. Geared cycles are more easy and fun to cycle. Dont look at maintenance costs, and other meaningless stuff, these are such simple machines, u can fix it urself by learning. Focus and enjoy cycling, stop worrying about what other people say about maintenance

Non gear would be a good option for you but if you choose to increase your distance toh go for a gear cycle, in the long run it would be better assuming if you will increase your cycling distance.

It wouldn't be a problem. You can go ahead with a 18 Inches one.
Single gear cycle is sufficient for majority of people. Buying geared cycle was my mistake. It was good bike but unnecessary
