My buddy's uncle toured with these guys for the "Rocket to Russia" tour as a roadie. He was invited to each member's funeral until the end. Says the tour was his favorite of all time. Still jealous.

I love how they almost only play downstrokes which is one of the first things you're told not to do when taking guitar lessons cause it's a lot of unnecessary movement of your wrist. But they didn't have the internet and no teacher back then. Plus fuck the consensually agreed-on way of doing things, this is punk 😁

@@leahflower9924 true, it's so simple and it's due to that kind of DIY attitude they had that it was left in the songs even when editing.
Usually you'd cut it out in the studio because it'd be considered "unprofessional" but with them it's simply authentic.
Saw them 89, with agent orange opening at csulb one of my first shows that year, last tour with dee dee

Apparently "punk" rock was basically 50's rock and roll with a 70s flavor. But it's catchy.
Myles JS Pop punk was anyway.
This tune has more bee bop influence. Other Ramones' tunes vary.

The disco era had overproduced, overly long songs. The music of the Ramones was a counterpoint to that. A stripped down, garage band sound, and songs that lasted about three minutes at most, offered a refreshing change.
