my mom died few days ago and today i saw her birth certificate.the cause of her death is a septic shock.I m immediately trying to learn more about septic shock. my mother wanted me to be a doctor now i have got a new energy finding this.bcz doctors havent done much for my mother and im gonna save many lives one day.wish me luck....
I'm with you in Christ. I had 1 hour to live in 4 organ failure. The doctors told my family when the 5th organ goes, we call it. My family was advised no life-saving measures would be available. It was painless. The CDC said 1/3 of my blood pool was poisoned, but it had not hit my brain. To this day, my medical records don't state what the microbe was that hit my bloodstream. Both my kidneys, liver, uterus were bleeding and failing. I was 58yrs. Old. My near death experience told me God intervened. I woke up from unconsciousness, saying I was hungry. I left the hospital 2 days later. The medical people told my family I should not be hear and don't know why. I, too, will get the message out with you.
I was born with sepsis, the doctor already told my mom that I had only minutes. I am now in mid 20's alive and healthy, very grateful for God's daily grace! 😇
My septic shock story summarized. Last May put in ICU, contracted sepsis, went into a coma for 5 1/2 weeks. Placed on ventilator, my wife and brother were told I was not going to make it twice. Woke up, spent 3 more weeks in the hospital. Had to return to the hospital for another week due to an infection. Rehabilitating at home and gym trying to recover. I tell people this disease is like a hurricane, it doesn’t come and go, it ravages your body causing damage throughout your body. I feel very sorry for those who lost a loved one and those who went through this horrible disease. God Bless.
My dad used to get severe sepsis TWICE. The first sepsis left him disabled where; his doctors had to amputate his left leg to stop the infection from spreading further up into his body. He then went into a great depression. He believed that his life was over, all thanks to the amputation operation that left him permanently disabled; consequently, his will to live just diminished. The second sepsis was more severe as he went into shock, and the doctors couldn't do anything to sustain his life any longer. Thankfully, we could touch his hands and talk to him one last time before passing away. :(
I had sepsis from a kidney infection that went awry. I had the sweats so bad I soaked the sheet. I drove myself to the hospital. My ex worked nights, so I had to leave my kids alone. The oldest was 15. By the time I got to the hospital, I had the worse headache ever. I couldn't tolerate light, even blue light. The nurses gave me a folded sheet to cover my eyes. They thought, at first, I had meningitis. I was put in ICU. I hallucinated for almost three days. I had no idea what my body did at that time. When I came to, the dr told me I had sepsis. He said I was incredibly lucky to be alive. A lot of doctors and nurses stopped by to tell me how lucky I was.
Wow. I believe you are blessed! Btw, could you further explain to me about your night sweats? These past few days are weird. I wake up totally soaked in my sweats. I don't if this just nothing.
Nov 10, 2024 will be 2 years since I died and was brought back from septic shock. I was on a ventilator for 3 days. My heartbeat was as high as 224 bpm. My blood pressure tanked and was dead for almost 2 minutes before I was shocked back to life. I now suffer from PTSD. Thankful to still be here.
Honestly I saw nothing. At least that I know of. I was only dead for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. All I remember was waking up with a ventilator but my family told me I had to be shocked back to life.
I just found out about this channel and I love its videos. It's like medical school for us ordinary people. THANK YOU so much for your efforts and I hope this channel continues to grow and prosper. Much love and respect from Istanbul, Turkiye!
I lost my father just 2 weeks ago due to severe sepsis, my father was 63 years old but he is still strong and healthy, 1 day he got a fever and a diarrhea and thought it was just normal sickness until in 3days he was having difficulty in breathing and sweats a lot, his hands are cold and bloated stomach. I can feel his having a hard time becuase he always tells us that he couldn't make it.. We rush him into the hospital, he was taken care but unfortunately he only last 1day in hospital.. It was so sudden we are all in shock and couldn't believe it all happened..It was so heart breaking 😢😢.. I am praying for all people having sepsis, to keep the faith, keep strong and trust everything to the lord to heal you..
❤️ I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my amazing sweet dad to sepsis too 4 years ago. It's a nightmare to lose your dad like this... 😢 Sending you all my love! ❤️❤️❤️
I wound up becoming septic because I wound up developing toxic mega-colon and I would up becoming temporarily paralyzed and had to spend approximately three and a half months in an impatient rehab center so that I could learn how to walk and how to use my hands and arms again.
I just want to send prayers to everyone who is going through, ever has gone through or who has family experiencing this horrible infliction. Also giving thanks for all who have survived. Glory be to God.🙏🏽🫶🏽
My unele died yesterday and I Heard he has sepsis. This video helped me understand what i sepsis and what he had to go through. For a few weeks he had a pneumonia that he tought was just a cold. Along with this, he didn't even go to the hospital. Eventually, Thursday he was brought unconcious to the hospital, where he had 4 cardiac arrests
He died in his fourth one and left all of us in disbelief. At 52, he left his younger Brother (my dad), his mother (my grandma, of wich husband died 2 years prior), his kid (17yo), his wife and all of us suffering. Farewell uncle! 🕊️🤧
At 2:20 this should read: (need vasopressors to maintain MEAN arterial pressure ... ) which is a measurement typically calculated from the systolic BP, as the heart is pumping out through the arteries, and the diastolic BP, the pressure remaining in the arteries between beats while the heart is refilling. This is a more reliable figure for measuring progress during resuscitation. Also, "rapid heart rate" or tachycardia may seem vague but it is because we must look at what is typical or the recent baseline for the patient depending on age, medications, pain & anxiety, etc. Tachycardia is often a more reliable indicator in the very young. Babies tend to maintain a sufficient BP by beating faster. Older adults may be limited due to underlying heart conditions or medications.
I had a lung infection turn sepsis. I didnt go to emergency room untill 6 weeks later. I had been going to Med Now clinic. Then at home i had an attack. Felt like heart attack. Dropped me to my knees. A week later went to emergency room and was trandported 2hrs away to a big city hospital that had specialist to treat me perform surgey on my lungs. I knew i was in bad shap when the nurses started praying for me. Praise God!! It over a yr later now, i was on every antibiotic for 12 weeks, i still have diarria, weekness in my muscles, leg cramps, irritability.
I am prone to frequent UTI’s &, since I don’t have the typical symptoms of a UTI, my infection usually gets out of control & turns into sepsis. I thank God for every day He allows me to live through such a deadly disease…🙏🙏🙏
I lost my mom to this in 2019. She contracted it from pneumonia and we all didn't even know she was sick until it was too late. It really took me by surprise and I can't believe how fast she succumbed to this thing. It's a horrible feeling to just sit there and watch your loved one as their life keeps slipping away hour after hour and there's nothing you can do about it. To this day I struggle to come to terms with her death.
My grandma passed away from this yesterday. My mom said it appeared as if she was fighting for her life for over an hour even though they did give her pain medication. My condoleances.
My father is 24 hours from being diagnosed with Pneumonia. They’ve been pumping him up with Antibiotics every 5-8 hours. I feel like he gets weaker & weaker
God bless you its not easy to understand lífe. Its important to stay updated for our love one about any sign of signs like stroke or take a Cpr course always reading about preventine medicine for the elderly😊
I lost my father due to Septic shock April 29th last month... he had Dialysis done 4 hours before his death and spent last 4 hours with us... I miss him a lot.
My brother n law jus passed away from septic shock 2 weeks ago.... It sucked seeing him like that we didn't have the best relationship but we got better the last 6 months RIP to him 🙏
I was just hospitalized for sepsis and the doctors were telling me that had I not come in sooner, I would’ve been dead. My body was basically shutting down and my heart was having issues keeping blood flow. My heart rate would jump to the 160s then suddenly drop to the low 30s. I had every single symptom you could think of and was sweating through everything. I was on so much mediation to stop the pain from my chest alone. Turns out my kidney was damaged and my heart but I had ignored it for weeks. I’m still recovering now and had to make some dietary changes and I can’t move around as fast anymore.
3 specialists Saud I would die 7 years ago. 18 years paying and I get zero no parents no spouse just ne felling l Ike a burden. I sincerely apologize, I'm just to the point I can't take it anymore Triesta Stone
This happened to my mom. She said before that she's tired already and getting weak and told us not to send her to the hospital anymore. I still wanna give it a try so we send her to the hospital. The doctors asked us to go home and meet my mom's doctor on Thursday. It was a Saturday. Then the Sunday comes, my mom started rocking her head sideways. Vitals normal. She still ate the food I gave her. After lunch her oxygen was back to being unstable. Then came the bpm dropping. Body aching so much. Her breathing is labored. Her heart kept on jumping from 160 to 30. She sweated a lot and became pale. If she died in the hospital at that time, I'll only be the person to say goodbye to her. Only 1 person is allowed there. She took her last breath in our house. With both my hand and dad holding her. She had late stage pancreatic cancer and she's 72 years old.
I was in hospital with endocarditis, strep b, sepsis! The shakes were horrific. They came every 4/6hrs like clockwork. They had me on a benzylpenicilin drip. It worked a treat! As soon as I showed signs of improvement they kicked me out with amoxicillin tablets and blood thinners as I got a blood clot on my right lung. I’ve been home a week and feel like garbage! Any who has had sepsis etc expect a slow recovery! It’s no joke!
@@bobibobe4886 yeah it showed up on a blood test. I knew something was wrong when I started shaking uncontrollably and looked blue. My dr who took my bloods rang and said get to hospital immediately. It was terrifying
My grandmother passed away due to septic shock and kidney ,heart failure..we admitted her the next day when she complained of feeling very weak and in pain.. unfortunately she succumbed 12 hours after admitting to CCU. May her soul rest in peace. Namah shivay 🙏
Same happened with my mom😭 My mom was alright 10 days ago. Suddenly she complained about pain in her lower back. We immediately took her to the hospital and admitted her. She passed away in 5 days due to septic shock 😭
😢my grandmother is also admitted in the hospital for the same reason. ICU doctors have clearly given us no hope and asked us if we wanted to stop medications so that she can go away at peace. 4 days she was totally unconscious. Once the meds were stopped, suddenly she has regained consciousness (partially), and warbling and kind of recognising her loved ones. We are unable to understand what is happening 😢. We are kind of feeling guilty about stopping medicines (doctor told us her right lung has collapsed, left one had pneumonia, kidney was not working..they were unable to get her bp on the machine as it was too low, spo2 was unreadable too)..we consulted with our physician before taking this decision. Can anyone please help if we should keep the medications going or pray to God to reduce her pain😢?
I survived this intact last May. I’m blown away that I’m still here and in one piece. It was the scariest and one of the most painful things I’ve ever been through. My thoughts go out to those who weren’t so lucky. 🙏
Congratulations! Happy for you. Mine is lasted over a decade from start to finish. Presently purging all those memories and getting back to life. Hope you're coming out of this well also.❤
@@elijahangel2473 The sickest I’ve ever been in my entire life. Whole body hurts, needing help getting in and out of bed and needing a walker to walk 9 feet to the bathroom. A whole week of that. And having your blood taken every hour. It’s a mess.
@@akeames my wife is in the hospital with sepsis shock shes been there since last week tuesday and unresponsive on a ventilator shes never told me she had sepsis got off the phone with her grandmother she said its something I wanna tell you but if she makes it shes gonna be made I told you she has septis shock her blood is poisoned
My sister is currently in the hospital recovering from septic shock caused by bacteria from a UTI brought on by kidney stones. She was on the brink of death for a couple of days. We were all very worried. Even family from out-of-state were calling. I did everything to stay positive and keep my sister positive. I massaged and warmed her hands and feet to keep them from turning blue, because she kept complaining they were hurting as she was in those final stages. I did everything to keep her and everyone positive and knowing she could beat it, and she did. She is still in the hospital, but the infection is contained and she is finally moving around and able to talk without being out of breath right away again. It was so awful. But, I am so very grateful that she beat it and is improving every day!!
@ozzylopez She is doing great! She fought it, minute by minute and once her heart function stabilized without the blood medication, she was able to help the antibiotics fight off the infection and she got better.
@ozzylopez She is back working now and has been for a couple months. She is a head RN nurse as well for a whole medical building, so she was very much needed back at work!
Please give me feedback because I had that years ago when but I'm having some kind of issue with my bladder I'm type 2 diabetes I have this years ago and I was taking metformin I don't take metformin no more I'm having shoulder pains is at the hospital and I didn't have a good experience with people especially with someone with diabetes I have a Candida that was hard to get you still going on in my cervix are inflamed please tell me how to get rid of this naturally at home
i had blood sepsis when i had diverticulitis in my bowel and one of the bubble burst and all bacteria invaded my body causing organ shutdown, brain confusion and facing death in minutes, that was 2 years ago and now im on coagulated tablets to stop blood clots around my body and to take those tablets for the rest of my life till the day i hit the bucket, im grateful for my docs who saved my life twice in 2 months!
Ive had sepsis twice now , the first time when l was 25 and had just had a baby , it caused pulmonary oedema, heart and kidney failure , the second time November- December 2020 when as a none smoker / drinker l had an abscess on my liver which blocked my bile ducts setting of kidney failure again , this time l was 65 and boy of boy did it knock me off my feet . Coming home after CCU and then in isolation l found l couldn’t walk to the bathroom without stopping , now 6 months later lm still tired . But lm still here so thats thankful.
The pain from sepsis is incredible, my temperature was so high l thought l was on Mount Everest dancing with a lama who was wearing a top hat ........of my rocker l think we could say . It took them 3 days to get it under control , l became incontinent , could breath, kept thinking l was not in hospital and basically going crazy ....14 days later l was around 75% ok but needed to go home to my disabled hubby and son , who looked after me incredibly well. The drs at my uni's clinic were on the fence about sending me to the ER (i was 5 days sick with pneumonia), but i'm very glad they did. I came in with sepsis and my respiratory system was beginning to fail, and the worst part of it was that i kept drifting in and out of consciousness. It came on so quickly in a seemingly healthy adult and it still scares me knowing that if i had been sent back to the dorms that night i might've not woken up
I had gotten sepsis from amoxicillin that caused C diff and later C diff induced colitis. I also somehow managed to get Covid at the same time and have chronic asthma. I noticed small signs and started feeling very lethargic over the course of a few days after the antibiotic and then come one morning. I woke and had a temp of 101 come afternoon my temp was 103 and I was very cold and started sweating like crazy. Later that night I about collapsed in the shower and the paramedics were called. I had a temp of 104 and the next thing I knew I was placed on oxygen as my spo2 was at 85. Spent a little over 2 weeks in the hospital. Notice the warning signs and speak with your doctor. I was very lucky to have survived this but many people may not be that lucky notice the warning signs before it fully progresses.
Had sepsis twice and septic shock once due to MRSA from recurrent UTIs from indwelling catheter. It’s crazy that I am alive. I scared all my poor nurses. I remember the septic shock night that I was speaking to people I truly thought were in the room and no one was there. Really weird as that’s the only time I’ve ever experienced audio and visual hallucinations.

I've developed sepsis twice. Both times due to pneumonia. Once when I was 20 and once at 50. All together 4 weeks hospitalized. I have PTSD from the illnesses.
Yes, now every feeling of pain or discomfort, I worry about a recurring bout It is nothing to fool with. It will kill you and cause damage to healthy organs
I had sepsis before im 13 now i had it when i was twelve but im ok now but my symptoms were constant vomiting stomach ache weakness and no appetite i mean everytime i would est i would throw it up but i needed to eat so i could take my medication but im ok now with a positive attitude it wasnt Really that bad. So to anyone that may have it i wish you luck and a healthy life and thinking positively helps try not to be scared i lnow its easy said than done but yeah love everyone
I never even heard of the word sepsis until it happened to me. Went to the ER for a kidney stone that had me barely walking and ended up being in the ICU for a week. The kidney stone got stuck in my urethra which lead to me having sepsis. Scariest day of my life! Your organs begin to shut down VERY fast with sepsis. I was shaking and sweating at the same time, hallucinating, and had extreme stomach pain. Long story short, I had to learn to do things all over again that some ppl take for granted. I was given a list of foods to avoid that are high in oxalates (that can contribute to kidney stones), and I drink plenty of water. Now I truly do try to live everyday as if it were my last because you never know. Many prayers to those who've experienced it, those who know someone who had it, and those who are reading this.
I got sepsis from a kidney stone also. 3 weeks ago. After antibiotics and hospital 16 days i was sent home. I still dont feel good. Can sepsis come back?
Thank you for this video I survived sepsis a few years back very painful experience….my brother-in-law passed away from sepsis in 95 RIH Ralphy he was only 3
I’m currently in the ICU with sepsis. I have sickle cell disease so my immune system is severely compromised and this nearly killed me. I’m recovering but please learn from me. Go to the hospital at the first sign of symptoms. My doctor said had I waited literally an hour, I wouldn’t have made it. I’m not out of the woods yet but I’m hoping to get out the intensive care unit soon and onto my regular hematology floor.
I developed sepsis from an infection in my spine. I ended up in the ICU, in a coma for 3-weeks. I’m actually still in the hospital 12 weeks later. I’ve had to learn how to walk again and my kidneys are functioning at about 10%, requiring me to need dialysis once a week. I’m praying that my kidneys come “back online,” otherwise I might need a transplant. I can’t imagine getting sepsis again, I’m not sure I’d survive it.
My mother had sepsis about 6 or 7 times. I lost count. The first time was very bad, because they could not understand what happened to her. Her temperature and her bloodpressure were way to low. When she got into shock she stopped breathing, her heart stopped and she got a epileptic seizure. They got her back immediately, but her chances were 0%. She survived. You don't have to get a fever!!! Be aware of that. Sometimes the temperature gets low. She made a good recovery, but had it again and again. Eventually she passed away from cancer in her blatter. I miss my little Mommy and her will to live.
I recommend asking your doctor to take specific blood test for septic sepsis. Excessive oxygen , waste and other things in the blood is an indication. We caught mine in time. I am presently septic sepsis free for a couple of weeks. Hope and prayers are with you
Same happened last day with my cousin brother ,we lost him on june 6 ,he struggles 9 days in hospital with septic shock disease 🥺🥺and I came here to find what exactly it is
In June I felt sick so went to ER and found out I had sepsis. They said I’d only be in there a day or so and that turned into almost 2 weeks. And was admitted on my 19th birthday. Also had to have IV antibiotics for 6weeks which then led to the development of gallstones from the medication (potential side effect). They then wanted to do surgery to remove the gallbladder. Also suspected endocarditis and they want to do heart surgery too. So glad I got insurance though. Got like 90k$ of med bills for just a few months haha.
@@elia.8993 oh my goodness. That must’ve been so rough. The covid protocols so are such a paid in situations like that. Know so many people who were never able to say goodbye. Poor thing
I had a fucking boil on my leg when I was 11, which progressed to sepsis so quick that I was barely able to stand in the space of a day. You really never know just how mildly these things can start.
I got sepsis about 2 years ago. I was in the hospital for three weeks on a respirator’s I was taking to a rehab and care center where I went though therphy the hold time I had a trake in my throat and a gtube in my stomach. I lost my ability to do anything had to learn to walk but now I’m in a wheelchair and useing a walker to walk a short distance
So, this is a very threatening condition, caused usually by an ignored infection that starts small and then worsens, when the immune system attacks the bloodstream over-reactively by releasing toxins systematically and in a widespread way when it is not supposed to. The leaked-out blood causes purple rashes, but the end-stage result that kills people from sepsis is toxic-shock syndrome caused by rapidly explosive methemoglobin buildup in the blood which depletes more and more O2 out of one's body, threatening irreversible damage and death to the vital organs of your body - which threatens sudden death to you. So keenly, it is a medical emergency just like bacterial meningitis - just like this meningitis - the sooner you go to the doctor or the emergency room if attacked by sepsis, the higher the chance you will survive and not die from sepsis! No lies about that!
This was truly an eye opener for me I survived sepsis and didn’t even know I had it which came from a uti if I have never feared anything I fear sepsis
Sepsis can also “be gotten’’ (as mine was) by way of an surgery/procedure. I had an kidney stone removed, and a stent placed, afterwards for drainage ….. and because of it being an “foreign object’ in the body ….. infection occurred. I did NOT recognize the signs, as who would notice an temperature of 100.1. But THANKFULLY I was staying with my daughter at the time, and she noticed I hadn’t eaten in 7 day’s ….. only had been drinking, and the last 2 days, sleeping. I was becoming incoherent. She demanded, I go to the hospital. It literally saved my life, the doctor told me if I hadn’t of came in when I did …..
The clinical features are conected with the patology process, such as the sign of the cold skin, which is a consequence of the peripheral vasoconstriction, in order to maintained the perfussion of the vital organs, other clinical characteristic is the serum lactate leves, which is related with the shock phases, especially with the progressive phase, where there is general hipoxia, so metabolism is shifted with the one that doesn´t need oxygen and that generates more lactic acid.
Back in 2018 I had sepsis not sure how bad my sepsis was but from what I've read it says it can kill you in as little as 12 hours I remember I felt shity for about a week before that and one day I got up to go to the bathroom and by the time I got back to my bed my heart really really hurt so I called 911 they picked me up they couldn't even test my sugar levels in the ambulance because it wouldn't read my blood I also was severely anemic and had endocarditis when I do research on sepsis it's shocking to think to myself that I was seriously on my deathbed I was considering waiting another week to try to go to the hospital but my heart was hurting I felt so crappy and I knew my entire family was going on a trip and I was going to be here all alone when they admitted me to the ER the very next morning literally minutes upon waking up and taking one bite of the breakfast I had ordered it was lights out because I had a fucking stroke. When I first got to the ER I also did mention to the doctor I was considering waiting another week and he said I probably wouldn't have even lasted more than a few hours if I wouldn't have got help when I did. I ended up having to spend 3 months in a Recovery Center as well because my body was so infected and I had such little red blood cells left. I was literally on my deathbed And something you said here explains a lot so now I'm about 90% sure as to what caused this to happen let's just say that I had a UTI and I have other medical issues not going to get too much into that into the comments here but thanks that explains a lot you just answered what I was wondering and what I've been wondering all these years.
I didn't even have to watch your animation. I sat at my husband's bedside 26 years ago and watched the whole nightmare unfold before my eyes. I often wish I hadn't done all that research while he was going thru chemo. I'd rather not know.
i once injected buprenorphine AKA Subutex at night then i fall asleep later in the middle of the night i woke up shaking and halucinating with fever 41 degree ... the morning my familly called the doctor i didnt want to tell him that i use drugs he ijnected paracetamol and other things to me and gave me treatment i was so sick then i felt better after 3 or 4 days .. u think it is a sepsis ?
My mom died on 10th September after fighting with Pneumonia(with sepsis) for 14 days. From normal cabin to ICU(with life support). It was really the most traumatic experience of my life.A healthy person got worse and worse day by day in front of my eyes. She was only 40 years old.Still I can't believe my beloved mother is no more with me.May the Almighty give her peace.
My father had sepsis & septic shock due to a recent diabetic foot injury, a series of organ failure occurred including problems in heart, kidney, blood, oxygen..
I just lost my mom 1/6/22 to septic shock. She was sent to a rehabilitation center from the hospital. She was healing at the hospital after a debridement procedure. When the center called 911 and had her sent back to the hospital they told us her wound had gotten so bad her pelvic bone was exposed. 😭😭😭😭
I am so sorry for your loss! Such a terrible tradgey!! I was very intrigued by your comment. I lost my mother April 2020. She went into hospital with sepsis in her foot. The hospital (Tennova North Knoxville TN) treated her with iv antibiotics and the podiatrist did a small surgery on her foot on a Friday. He left the wound open so by Monday it might look better and it did. She was doing great taken out of ICU and put in a room. Then all of the sudden a gastrologist Dr said something was wrong with her stomach and without the coloscopy surgery she would die. By this time sepsis was treated. She had surgery and it went good. They said she could go to rehab/therapy. But before she went she started having very bad pain her back. They treated her with pain killers and said she will be ok. Me and my sister's all live in other states. The Dr advised us she will be fine and we could go home. They transferred her to rehab. Her brother was with her. She never did any therapy and could hardly sit up. She started deteriorating. All the sudden she was loosing her hearing and was screaming constantly in pain. I went to Knoxville the 1st week of March 2020 before covid. Went up to 2nd floor of rehab and before I even got off the elevator I could hear my mother screaming constantly. I still had to go through 2 thick doors and down the hallway to her rehab room. She was right across from the nurses station. She was completely naked and a very soaked drenched pee pad under her. It was horrific. I had to put my lips to her ear and scream so she could her me. Her hair was so dirty and wrenched. I talked to her nurse and she changed the pad. She told me she was running a slight temp. I told the nurse she is acting delirious. She thought my aunt was the devil and her mother was alive. She said she is fine and she is due a tramadol in 1/2 hr. I yelled tramadol. Told her to not even bother with that. She needs something strong and all her symptoms tells me there is an infection. Nobody did nothing. I had to go back to NC and her brother would watch her. He said he has been there everyday and no Dr or anything. They said they don't change pee pad but every 12 hrs. I snapped. I pulled the pee pad from under her threw it on floor took pics of it and her bottom. The room stunk so bad u could not stay in there without gagging. Her brother said since she got there 2 weeks ago nobody has bathed her or cleaned her up. There was dried feces on the plastic covering of mattress. I took pics of everything. It was 4:30 p.m. and I left the room and went right to the hospital which was connected to rehab. I went straight to administrator office and I was bawling crying. I demanded to see top senior. Well she and her assistant took me to a conference room and I showed her the pics and told her all her symptoms and I cannot leave knowing they are letting her rot. They agreed the pics were horrifying. They asked do I need to go back in room I said I have to get my phone charger. They left and said they would bring it to me. They never did. Vi then went back to my mother's room. They had the door closed. The administrator and her assistant and a nurse were cleaning my mother they put a plastic outfit over their dresses. And the nurse they had kept saying this has never been my patient. While I was gone to hospital the nurses station saw me taking pics. So when I left they all went in and tried to clean her up and everything else the administrator told me. She promised that this will never happen again she had started developing bed sores. She gave me her card. I told them she has some kind of infection they did not react to this fr 1 and 1/2 weeks. She had developed sepsis in her spine prob from surgery to stomach. So for over 2 weeks no antibiotics no Dr no pain meds (tramadol). Needless to say they upped her to hydrocodone and started IVs almost 2 weeks after I had told them she has an infection. It was too late. Her brother was with her 12 hrs or more each day and no Dr. When I left that's when covid broke out. They should have moved her to ICU but they did not. She rotted and died. Your story sounds so familiar. God Bless you 🙏
I just got released from the hospital from sepsis from a kidney infection. Scary thing is, is if I wasn’t in so much pain all over and having trouble breathing, I wouldn’t have went to the emergency room. I probably wouldn’t be here today
Same here. I had a kidney infection and went into the ER at just the right time. My blood pressure dropped so low that they put me on this gurney that tipped my head down lower than my feet so my brain got enough oxygen. I’m blown away that I’m still here in one piece. Peace to you and yours. 🙏
I had never heard of sepsis before until I walked in the er a couple months ago for a uti infection then they diagnosed sepsis had to get antibiotics intravenously I didn’t know that sepsis could kill you if not caught in time I had no clue I had sepsis so it’s no telling how long I had it before it would have killed me and my family would have never knew the caused of death now iam terrified of getting sepsis again only because I had absolutely no symptoms but the urine output I couldn’t urinate at all and had to have a catheter inserted I wouldn’t wish sepsis on anyone
sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s excSepsis essive response to an infection causes damage to its own tissues. Sepsis may progress to septic shock, a body-wide deficiency of blood supply that leads to oxygen deprivation, buildup of waste products, and eventual organ failure. Without timely treatment, mortality rates are high. With sepsis, patients typically experience fever, weakness, sweating, and a rapid heart rate and breathing rate. As septic shock develops, blood pressure decreases, and signs of organ damage, such as confusion and reduced urine output, can be observed. The skin is initially warm or flushed, then becomes cold, sweaty, mottled or bluish. While any infection can lead to sepsis, bacterial infections in the lungs, digestive and urinary organs, are the most common causes. Sepsis may also develop from a post-surgery infection or an infected catheter. Septic shock occurs more often in newborns, the elderly and pregnant women. Other risk factors include having a compromised immune system or chronic diseases, extended hospital stays, having invasive devices, and overuse of antibiotics or corticosteroids. The pathogenesis of septic shock is not fully understood. In most cases, the immune system is overwhelmed by an infection that gets out of control, and responds with a systemic cytokine release that causes widespread vasodilation and fluid leakage from capillaries. These cytokines also activate the coagulation process, producing tiny blood clots that clog blood vessels, reducing blood flow. Bleeding may also develop because excessive coagulation depletes clotting factors. Poor capillary flow reduces oxygen supply and impairs removal of carbon dioxide and waste products, resulting in organ dysfunction and eventually failure. Diagnosis is primarily clinical but requires confirmation of an ongoing infection. An elevated blood lactate level serves as an indicator of shock. This is because in the absence of oxygen, the body switches to anaerobic metabolism, which breaks down glucose only partially, producing lactic acid. Blood tests may also indicate signs of organ damage, and infection. Other specimens such as urine, respiratory or wound secretions, may be taken for culture to detect infection. Imaging tests may also help identify the source of infection. Other causes of shock should be ruled out. Early and aggressive treatment is critical for survival. Treatments include: - Intravenous fluids, and possibly vasopressors, to restore blood flow. - Broad-spectrum antibiotics while waiting for culture results. Once the causative organism is identified, more specific antibiotics will be used. - Other measures to control infection. - Supportive care such as supplemental oxygen, and in case of organ failure, mechanical ventilation or dialysis.
My mother died of septic shock with multiple organ failure on the 5th of Oct 2022. She was fine till she caught up with fever only for 3 days and she is no more with us. This is so serious and life threatening. How I wish I knew the way to treat her soon. I guess Jesus loves her more 😥 Miss you mom - Gone too soon 😭
Right before I almost died from sepsis, I was “Very’’ tired & lethargic (unable to almost move). It was an Strangely peaceful feeling. I was fortunate, that I happened to be visiting my daughter when this happened, and she took me to the hospital ….. the Doctors say; right in the nick of time. I had some pain, but the pull or heaviness of that lethargy ….. overtook any pain. It’s difficult to explain. However having been in the Medical field, I do know that, when the body is in shock ….. it protects you from pain. I don’t believe your dad was suffering at the very end of his life. If he was feeling anything ….. it was only Love, for those he was leaving behind. ❤ I am so sorry 😞 for the loss of your beloved Father.
I was minutes from dying in the ER if they hadn’t seen me right away I would be dead rn, it was the worse pain possible and I don’t wish sepsis on my worst enemy.
My father had colorectal cancer and he survived by doing chemotherapy and radiotherapy he had surgery and it removed 7-8 inches of his colon he had a bag of sorts I forgot the name that would be used as a waste bag filling with stool he later got another surgery that removed his waste bag and maybe reconnected the large intestine to where the colon was supposed to be. And then the doctors thought he was cancer free but when he went to do a test 3 months later he got diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer he was getting the same chemotherapy and radiotherapy and did a surgery that uses a syringe to suck fluid from the lungs I think they got 1500 Milliliters of fluid out, and then one day he went to do the chemotherapy and then he was taken to the HDU - High dependency unit where he was there for 4 days before sadly dieing because he had septic shock it was very sad he was 35 year old when he died.
Sepsis caused me to have low body temperature and my kidneys eventually shut down. I was close to hypothermia. I think it was a combination of Omicron and Sepsis from a bacterial infection. I waited a few days, took many hot baths to raise body temperature, and woke up at 3 am with my heart feeling like it was going to beat out of my chest. I went to the ER and by the time I got there, they couldn't find anything. My body immune system kicked in and was fighting, and I was starting to pee again. Life is so fragile, pay attention to your body. It will give you clues. Doctors are good but you need to have a general knowledge to present to the Doctor, so they can make an informed decision. By the way, hope this also helps someone. I also had a MRSA infection a few months later. DANGEROUS. It progressed over night from my face to my jaw and ears. I got my antibiotics early and quickly. It probably saved my life. MRSA is deadly as it causes sepsis.
@@Itz_M0n0 Possibly. The best way to think of Sepsis is as blood poisoning. Bacteria has invaded the bloodstream causing havoc, which can cause an over the top nasty immune response.
@@Itz_M0n0 I had tests done. They came back negative, all of them. To the hospital nothing was wrong with me. However I documented the low drops of body temperature (within a degree of hypothermia) and all the other symptoms. Even without an official diagnosis my symptoms were symptomatic of sepsis. Low body temperature and inability to urinate are huge symptoms of sepsis. Omicron was a guess, but I had the signature 'scratchy throat', not sore, yet not normal. I'm one of the rare cases that Omicron was simply undetectable in me, and even my kidney enzymes were normal. Yet yet yet something was terribly wrong. It was a living nightmare for sure.
@@zebulonsatrap8020 Omicron gives you drop in temperatures, it doesn’t necessarily means you had sepsis. Most of the symptoms of sepsis are kind of like Omicron or COVID from what I seen.
We just lost my Dad on Feb 9 to a sepsis infection. He had a bowel instruction and a partially dead stomach. He had a lap band put in around 2006. The surgeon wasn’t sure if the bowel obstruction caused so much back up that it killed the stomach, or what…but he said my Dad’s upper stomach above where the band sat was swollen to the size of 6 Liter bottles of Coke…it was black, gangrenous, and was like wet tissue paper. They removed 1/3 of his stomach, the lap band and port, unkinked his bowels, and sent him to the ICU. He fought for his life for 9 days but ultimately the infection was just too much. He never fully regained consciousness after his surgery…when they tried to rouse him he had severe delirium and his heart kept going into A Fib. I miss him so much 💔 I am so sorry for anyone having to go through this, or watching their loved one go through this.
It's fascinating to learn about the human body overreacting to things like infections or allergens. "I dont like this thing. Better kill myself to get away from it."
So if i didnt take check up in hospital that day ill literally die in any mins or secs because i was literally breathing half of my oxygen and my vision is all black then my skin is so pale and im so cold i dont want to stand up, im vomiting. Super confused cant even put my index finger up. But that time i also have astigmatism the reason my head is in so pain like my head will pop out later. But now im all okay because i got check up.
Im only 16 even though im all okay but i still have low of breathing. My skin turned pale again😭 every night im watching how to treat blood infection. Because we dont have enough money anymore to take check ups but god will be by my side whenever where i suffer he will help me in all ways.
My father passed away due to septic shock. A few days before passing away he was hospitalised with liver cirrhosis. During that time he always complained of the catheter used. Now after watching this video, I doubt if the infection passed through that catheter! 😞
My mom passed away 12 days ago due to sepsis with septic shock 😢 She was suffering from the past 3-5 months.. She also had COVID last year..dunno if it was also factor in causing sepsis..worst part was we changed 4-5 hospitals nobody would detect she had sepsis.. at the last day of her she was shifted to ICU then they confirmed it was severe sepsis and with septic shock! I don't know who's a failure, me? for not researching much about this or the doctors who couldn't recognise this earlier! Either way my mom won't be back 😭
my mom died few days ago and today i saw her birth certificate.the cause of her death is a septic shock.I m immediately trying to learn more about septic shock. my mother wanted me to be a doctor now i have got a new energy finding this.bcz doctors havent done much for my mother and im gonna save many lives one day.wish me luck....

Don't you mean a death certificate
I was born with sepsis, the doctor already told my mom that I had only minutes. I am now in mid 20's alive and healthy, very grateful for God's daily grace! 😇
Thank the doctors that actually cured you not your imaginary friend.
May God give you all the health 😇

My septic shock story summarized. Last May put in ICU, contracted sepsis, went into a coma for 5 1/2 weeks. Placed on ventilator, my wife and brother were told I was not going to make it twice. Woke up, spent 3 more weeks in the hospital. Had to return to the hospital for another week due to an infection. Rehabilitating at home and gym trying to recover. I tell people this disease is like a hurricane, it doesn’t come and go, it ravages your body causing damage throughout your body.
I feel very sorry for those who lost a loved one and those who went through this horrible disease. God Bless.
My mother
You are right about the ravaging.
I'm glad you survived. My uncle didn't. He passed away yesterday from sepsis.
I’m so sorry to hear this. I hope you and your family have found some peace.
Stay strong, I'm so sorry for your loss!🙏🙏🙏

That sounds really scary! I'm glad you're better !!

Yes, now every feeling of pain or discomfort, I worry about a recurring bout
It is nothing to fool with. It will kill you and cause damage to healthy organs

Sepsis is generally identified only when it progresses to Septic Shock and/or ARDS. Delayed diagnosis is a major contributing factor to sepsis
Thank you for this video I survived sepsis a few years back very painful experience….my brother-in-law passed away from sepsis in 95 RIH Ralphy he was only 3
I have 2 wounds and there's 2 pimple like on side of them could it be sepsis?
My mother passed from sepsis when, as a resident of a nursing home, staff failed to manage her catheter care properly.
I'm proud to be a sepsis survivor ✊
Me too 😩 didn’t even know I had it and didn’t know I would have died if I didn’t get to the hospital sooner
@@Yo-yo-dt5ze oh I hope you're okay now
So since the symptoms are so similar to a lot of viral illnesses and sicknesses, how can you tell when it's really sepsis?
Usually if i remember correctly, it goes faster than usual viral sickness.
Correct me if I'm wrong
I recommend asking your doctor to take specific blood test for septic sepsis. Excessive oxygen , waste and other things in the blood is an indication.
We caught mine in time. I am presently septic sepsis free for a couple of weeks. Hope and prayers are with you
Doctors dont allways recognize the signs of sepsis. Even if you think you are dying from sepsis its there choice what to do.

My grandmother died also in Septic cause it's so sad that i can never hug her again🥺🥺🥺
I wasn't lucky enough to say bye to my mother who died alone due to this condition and other protocols which prevented us from seeing her a last time.

Doctors never told you what infection caused it
I am sorry to hear that, what were her symptoms? How long from diagnosis did she pass?
I had a fucking boil on my leg when I was 11, which progressed to sepsis so quick that I was barely able to stand in the space of a day. You really never know just how mildly these things can start.
I got sepsis about 2 years ago. I was in the hospital for three weeks on a respirator’s I was taking to a rehab and care center where I went though therphy the hold time I had a trake in my throat and a gtube in my stomach. I lost my ability to do anything had to learn to walk but now I’m in a wheelchair and useing a walker to walk a short distance
Is sepsis and cytokinin Strom same thing in Covid patient ?
Many people get this while in hospital due to prolong misuse of catheter. Some hospitals love to use catheters because it makes their job EASIER
I was literally on my deathbed
And something you said here explains a lot so now I'm about 90% sure as to what caused this to happen let's just say that I had a UTI and I have other medical issues not going to get too much into that into the comments here but thanks that explains a lot you just answered what I was wondering and what I've been wondering all these years.

God Bless you 🙏
Helpful for tomorrow's class❤
thank you thanks 🙏

sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s excSepsis essive response to an infection causes damage to its own tissues.
Treatments include:
- Intravenous fluids, and possibly vasopressors, to restore blood flow.
- Broad-spectrum antibiotics while waiting for culture results. Once the causative organism is identified, more specific antibiotics will be used.
- Other measures to control infection.
- Supportive care such as supplemental oxygen, and in case of organ failure, mechanical ventilation or dialysis.
But is it possible that you can also survive with that illness?

Right before I almost died from sepsis, I was “Very’’ tired & lethargic (unable to almost move). It was an Strangely peaceful feeling. I was fortunate, that I happened to be visiting my daughter when this happened, and she took me to the hospital ….. the Doctors say; right in the nick of time. I had some pain, but the pull or heaviness of that lethargy ….. overtook any pain. It’s difficult to explain. However having been in the Medical field, I do know that, when the body is in shock ….. it protects you from pain. I don’t believe your dad was suffering at the very end of his life.
My dad died on March due to Carcinoma Septic Shock, I was curious about that bcz the death was so surprising.
I had this once , didn’t think much of it at first but glad I went in when I did
Sepsis caused me to have low body temperature and my kidneys eventually shut down.
Aint sepsis when the immune system goes crazy ?
@@Itz_M0n0 Possibly. The best way to think of Sepsis is as blood poisoning. Bacteria has invaded the bloodstream causing havoc, which can cause an over the top nasty immune response.
@@zebulonsatrap8020 so how did you know that’s what you had without having any type of test done ?

What is the difference between sepsis and gangrene?
I miss him so much 💔
I am so sorry for anyone having to go through this, or watching their loved one go through this.
