Blue skies and no wind in the Tararuas.....almost unheard of! Tough tramping but beautiful forest. I loved that sunrise. The Kapiti Coast is famous because that's where I grew up 🤣 (many years ago). A belated happy New Year.

Sweet! Yeah, we feel very lucky about our Tararua weather. When we saw the forecast, we knew we had to go for it!

Would like to hear the word "tramping " a bit more. Hiking seems to be taking over. Just an observation that's all. 😀

Waikanae, my home town! You had pretty good weather for the Tararuas

Every time we go for a hike in the mountains here we have to look out for grizzly bear, mountain lions, wolves etc. Do you have dangerous animals to look out for on your awesome trek?

      No, no dangerous animals here.

Not really. Wild pigs, goats, deer, possums, rats, weasels, stoats, ferrel cats, and native birds. Tsar above the treeline. Can't think of anything else atm
