At this level, technique is already a given. If there's no strong musicality and personality it is impossible to survive in today's competitive classical world. Trifonov is an artist with great sensitivity and a power to move people in his playing.
Played with an extreme sensibility. Very beautiful, since this performance I became a great fan of his clarity. With his performance of the Transcendental etudes of Liszt he proved his quality again, the best performance I have ever heard!
Why did Daniil win third prize? I thought he won first and suddenly I just felt so brokenhearted because he’s my favourite pianist! Amazing performance! Thanks
It was a minor scandal back in 2010. Wunder and Trifonov, both great young pianists with excellent artistic potential, were only awarded 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. Rumours say there was some foul play involved - this however remains unproven - but many warsovians were passionately debating the final result. Please listen to the 1st prize winner at your own discretion. I am not allowed to say more at this point. (As matter of fact, I'm pretty sure this comment will soon be removed by Chopin Institute.)
The guy is simply a genius. I'm quite a snob when it comes to classical music and he just blows everything away. How can one even grade that? He'd get zero points because he'd run so far off the scale that he'd come out the other end!
I prefer this to Ashkenazi's rendition. A little rubato goes a long way. Too much is like eating ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if you get the idea. Excellent interpretation with just the right balance of passion and restraint.
I feel bad for him. He isn’t aware of the awe and magnificence that his playing and skill bestow on those who listen. To him he’s just “playing the piano”

Besides his great sensitivity he has an extraordinary technique!
He’s a gift of God and one in a million!
My favorite Rondo of my favorite composer perfomed by my favorite player... what more?
If only it was played by your favorite piano in your favorite concert hall.
Fazioli ... my favorite piano
Perfect🎹🎶💐
I knew Danil will be the best to understand this piece!

6:15 - 6:35 this part is so beautiful
Uwielbiam tego wirtuoza. Jest niesamowicie porywający i poruszający😇
Pan Fryderyk Chopin jest dumą Polski! Cały naród jest z niego dumny! 🇵🇱
I would have said he was first place, definitely.

Third stage of competition; not third prize!
Fred Rutter yes, in the description it says that he’s the third prize winner
Fred Rutter Third stage of the competition, Third prize winner, III prize

Because Avdeeva was better
Verdammt gut ! Meine Herrn.
The Best
Bravo!
Super!

So that's why Entremont gave Seong-Jin Cho 1/10 on the 2015 competition
Makes sense

bozhanov?
Yes! His interpretation is my favorite, though this is also nice.
I think I would be intimidated to touch a $300,000 piano.
how is this piece not more famous? what a masterpiece. although Chopin did kind of rip off the Simpsons theme song if I'm honest ;)
Yeah, the fiend
He ripped it off in like 10 other pieces too
I prefer Sorita's flexibility

How do you know what he is and isn't aware of?
he should play even faster so he would breathe even less.
PASCAL Patrick are you saying he should suffocate?
